Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. goes multiplatform with crossplay and more

Digital Trends12-05-2025
Sunday's Virtua Fighter Spring Direct revealed a load of new information about upcoming games, including the as-yet-untitled Virtua Fighter 6 and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. The biggest news? R.E.V.O. is coming to Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, with full cross-play support and rollback netcode, although the team stayed quiet on exactly when it will release.
According to Siji Aoki, the lead for legacy Virtua Fighter projects, 'I know we've kept you waiting, but our Steam release, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., is finally coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2!' This is something fans have requested since the game first launched. 'To make your gameplay experience even smoother, the rollback functionality used in the Steam version will be supported on all platforms.'

In addition to the announcement that Virtua Fighter 5 is coming to more platforms, the team also teased more information about Virtua Fighter 6 and revealed the return of beloved character Wolf Hawkfield, redesigned with a bushy, Ganondorf-like beard and covered in tats. As Hawkfield strolled onto the stage, the in-game announcer referred to his return from a 'controversial retirement.'
'In previous Virtua Fighter games, the backstories and motivations of the characters weren't well known,' says new Virtua Fighter Project Producer Riichiro Yamada. 'This is one of the major differences between the previous games and our new game. Playing the new game will give you a much better sense of who the characters are, including their backstories and personalities.'
A behind-the-scenes look says the new Virtua Fighter project will borrow Ryu Ga Gatoku Studio's narrative prowess to flesh out the characters you know and love, including their origin stories. The studio is known for the Yakuza series, and the character designs for both new and returning characters will reflect elements of their backgrounds.
The Direct gave no clear release date for either game, but it demonstrated that both are well into development. It's a tease, but all fans can do for now is be patient until more information (and hopefully a release date) is revealed.

Accused Of ‘Battlefield 6' Cheating, VTuber RileyCS Banned, Then Unbanned On Twitch

While the vast majority of chatter on social media regarding the Battlefield 6 beta has been positive, there has been one very strange situation involving a specific player with a viral gameplay clip that has gotten her accused of cheating. That would be VTuber RileyCS, who posted some extremely fast, extremely accurate gunplay from the Battlefield 6 beta. The clip got millions of views, but so did all the comments and quote tweets saying that she was 'clearly cheating.' Twitch recently banned her, with people citing that cheating on stream is against its TOS, but then early today she was unbanned, making that duration incredibly short. You might as well start off by watching the clip, to see what you make of it: After RileyCS was accused of cheating and the clip blew up, she uploaded a handcam to try to prove that she was in fact, just really that good: The fact is, nothing can be proven either way at this point, and even a Twitch ban can come from mass reporting on the platform and was likely overturned on appeal. One side believes that she's really just that good, as evidenced by her other gameplay in other shooters. She's shown handcam and task manager, and it's one clip out of dozens of hours. Some say the problem is just dumb enemies, not her skill. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder The other side says that this is just very obviously aimbot cheating rather than 'flicks,' and that the evidence she has provided is not enough to explicitly prove that isn't happening. One claim is that you can turn an aimbot on and off at any given time with tech like a footpedal. Battlefield 6 has taken significant steps to curb cheating, but as of yet, EA or DICE has not said anything about this, nor was she banned during the beta (another question is 'Why would you bother cheating during a beta, and why would you then upload that?'). Again, the Twitch ban at this point does not mean Twitch inspected her gameplay and internally deduced she was cheating. It simply hasn't been proven one way or the other yet. There is an additional dynamic here where some claim RileyCS is being targeted specifically with such fervor because she is trans, and you only need to look at the comments on the clips to see at least some of that rhetoric cropping up frequently. But the main debate is the gameplay clip. The 50 million view gameplay clip. We'll see what happens next in this saga, and I have reached out to her for comment. There's A New ‘KPop Demon Hunters' Song You Haven't Heard

Golden by HUNTR/X from the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters just hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a first for any KPop group. Some have said that this doesn't 'count' because the group is fictional, but there are obviously very real voices behind those characters. And one of them just released a new KPop Demon Hunters song. Kind of. Rei Ami is an American singer, rapper and voice actress originally from South Korea, and she is the singing voice of the HUNTR/X rapper Zoey in the film, as each character had both a speaking voice actor (in Zoey's case, Ji-young Yoo) and a singing voice for their tracks. On social media, Rei Ami responded to a request from a fan about an apparently teased diss track from Zoey targeting the Saja Boys, wondering if she could do a full version. And she did. The track, which doesn't have an official name, was written by Rei Ami, Reibes and Hunters. The beat is BMTJ via YouTube. She says it was compiled via Instagram and Tik Tok Live over the course of two days. Here it is: The track is about 1:20, which is obviously shorter than most of the other songs from HUNTR/X and the rest on the official soundtrack, but despite its low-key production, easily sounds like something that could have shown up in the film. KPop Demon Hunters continues to break record after record, arguably its biggest being yesterday, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time for a Kpop group with the track Golden. But besides that? While there are rumblings behind the scenes about what Netflix has planned next for KPop Demon Hunters, like a trilogy of films and maybe even a live-action remake and a stage show, nothing official has been announced yet (Update: They've just announced a sing-along theater event). The movie is such a huge hit it is probably hard to process and figure out next steps, given that they've clearly given birth to an enormous franchise suddenly out of nowhere. But I expect we're about to hear the next stage of HUNTR/X and the Demon Hunters soon enough. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
