Eric Idle was hospitalised for the second time in three days this week.
The Monty Python legend suspects he has Gastroenteritis - inflammation of the stomach and intestines, typically caused by a viral or bacterial infection - and thanked the medical staff at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai for their "kindness and help".

He penned to X on Monday (16.05.25): "So I'd like to thank all the doctors nurses and staff in the Cedars GI ward for their kindness and help to me today. The second time in three days. I think I'm suffering from Gastroenteritis. I love you people."

Last year, Idle admitted he "shouldn't be alive".
The 82-year-old comedian underwent surgery after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2019, and was thankful the disease was caught early as he now enjoys "every moment" of his life.

Asked if having cancer had changed him, he told The Times newspaper: "Oh, I shouldn't be alive. I'm a lucky b****** and I enjoy every moment."
He initially thought his doctor was joking when he broke the news of his diagnosis.
He said: "I had been working on a project called 'Death: The Musical' and I asked my doctor which type of cancer I could use to finish off one of my characters. He said, 'Pancreatic cancer, it can finish people off in three weeks.'"

Ten years later, Eric had routine tests with the same doctor and queried an ominous-looking blood result.
The British-born funnyman added: "He said, 'Pancreatic cancer' and I burst out laughing because I thought he must be joking."

Jack Draper laughs off snub as Emma Raducanu picks Carlos Alcaraz for US Open

Raducanu and world number two Alcaraz are among 16 big-name pairs announced by Flushing Meadows organisers on Tuesday. Asked if the two current British number ones could have got together instead, Draper said: 'A wise person once told me you should find the best partner – and that's what she did. I don't blame her at all for that. A STAR-STUDDED 🤩 lineup of teams have officially entered the reimagined US Open Mixed Doubles Championship! More info: — US Open Tennis (@usopen) June 17, 2025 'He's obviously the best player in the world probably right now, along with (Jannik) Sinner. Great at doubles, as well. She's gone about and chose the best partner, for sure. Hopefully they do well.' Draper, currently world number six, has linked up with Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng of China. 'I think it's a good format for the players to get prepared for the US Open, having a shot at playing with another top player,' he added. 'Qinwen I know from the Tour. I have seen her around. Obviously a great player herself and has a really good game. 'It will be fun to get out there and play with her and see how we get on. It was me who messaged. It was nice to get that together and let's see how we get on.' Alcaraz, who joined Draper in the second round at Queen's Club on Tuesday, said: 'She's gonna be the boss! 'I'm super excited about it. I think it's going to be great. It was an amazing idea for the tournament. 'I've known Emma since a really long time ago, so we know each other. I have a really good relationship with her. We are going to enjoy it, for sure. 'I will try to bring my doubles skill. We will try to win. But obviously it's going to be really, really fun.' It was announced earlier this year that the US Open mixed doubles event will be played over two days in the week before the main tournament. It was an attempt to attract more high-profile players, and it has certainly worked. As well as 'AlcaRad', Sinner will play with American Emma Navarro while other pairs include women's world number one Aryna Sabalenka and Grigor Dimitrov, Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios, Novak Djokovic and fellow Serbian Olga Danilovic and off-court partners Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas. The event will take place on August 19 and 20, with the winners scooping a prize pot of one million US dollars (approximately £750,000). Not all the pairs announced on Tuesday might make the cut, with entries open until July 28. The top eight teams with the best combined singles ranking – which currently would not include Raducanu and Alcaraz – will qualify directly, with eight further teams given wildcard spots.

Meghan Markle shares sweet way she keeps little Archie, 6, and Lili, 4, grounded

Meghan Markle explained how she and Prince Harry want their children; Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to know the value of money, particularly because they have "privilege" Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet sell homegrown fruit and vegetables at a farmers' market to understand the "value of things," Meghan Markle has said. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, believes the practice helps teach her kids the value of money because they are "very lucky" to live in a "privileged" home. She and Prince Harry encourage the children to do gardening regularly, and take pride in the crops in order to sell them at a market in Montecito, California. ‌ Meghan said: "There's a cost and a price for things, and I think that's key for children to understand, especially children who are very lucky to have a home, that has privilege, you need to know that just like manners, and taking care of the things around you, there is a value on things." ‌ Speaking to her friend and fellow podcaster Emma Grede, British-born CEO of fashion brand Good American and a founding partner of Kim Kardashian's Skims line, the duchess added: "Gardening is really really so great for children because it teaches them patience and teaches them to value and appreciate their food." Recently, Meghan posted a sweet image of the Sussexes' beagle Mia sniffing a basket of fresh produce seemingly grown in the garden of her mansion in Montecito. At the time, the mum said she prepares Archie and Lilibet's packed lunches with vegetables grown in the garden. "I love it at the end of a long day. The kids are down to bed at like 7ish. I can go downstairs have a glass of wine [and] I'm doing their little lunch. I find joy in it for whatever reason and it can be therapeutic. That for me is one of my simple pleasures," Meghan continued on the podcast. This is such a key age. I don't want to miss a moment for my children and I love that I can do drop off and pick up at school and do meetings in between and go to Disneyland for two days, as we just did. And, you know, volunteer to serve hot lunch at school or be the chaperone for the kindergarten field trip." The former actress, who grew up in California, juggles her business As Ever with parenting. She has been using podcasting - and other media - recently to promote her business, including dropping cryptic hints on Instagram at "surprises" which await fans later this week. A post on the brand's official page was captioned: "Oh yes, things await. Mark your calendars for June 20 at 8 a.m. PT – we're bringing back your favorites, plus some delicious surprises you won't want to miss!"
