Yahoo01-04-2025

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Since 2009, Give! Pikes Peak has raised more than 19 million dollars for nonprofits in the Southern Colorado region. Tuesday, April 1, marks the first day the 2025 Give! Campaign is accepting nonprofit applications.
Applications run through May 9, and any nonprofit is encouraged to apply. Give! is designed to connect organizations with local donors who care about their community, providing visibility at a local level and helping nonprofits stand out in a crowded fundraising landscape. Executive Director Victoria Norton joined Loving Living Local host Justin Antweil to express her excitement.
'Give! Pikes Peak exists to inspire community philanthropy in fun, fresh, and innovative ways, and support our local nonprofits in our community,' said Norton. 'Our biggest thing is we provide workshops so nonprofits can learn and be so effective at what they want to accomplish.'

Loving Living Local is an integral part of Give! Pikes Peak because each Wednesday the show spotlights a nonprofit organization that is part of Give! Pikes Peak.
'We are so thankful for FOX21 and all the station and Loving Living Local does,' said Norton. 'Wednesdays are extra special knowing your show is giving a platform to a local entity in the area.'

Celebrate Father's Day and summer events at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Father's Day might be extra special this year at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (CMZoo), where a 34-year-old silverback gorilla, Goma, is expecting his very first baby! His mate, Asha, a 32-year-old critically endangered Western lowland gorilla, is pregnant and due anytime between now and the end of July. Rachel Wright from Cheyenne Mountain Zoo stopped by with Tatooine, a Kenyan sand boa, to chat with FOX21's Krista Witiak about Father's Day excitement for gorilla Goma and the Zoo's upcoming summer events. As visitors await the new arrival, the Zoo is also gearing up for its first 21+ event of the summer: Moonlight on the Mountain, happening Thursday, June 26 from 6-9:30 p.m. Adults can enjoy beer, wine, delicious food samples, and live music – all in support of animal care at CMZoo. Primate World will be closed during the event, so if the baby is born early, it won't be visible that night. James Norton and Rebecca Adlington take part in 10-hour charity swim

Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington and actor James Norton have taken part in a wild sea swim for a marine conservation charity. On Friday, the two were among those to take the plunge in a 10-hour endurance ocean swim at Joss Bay in Kent, to raise money for the Blue Marine Foundation, a charity committed to addressing overfishing. Ahead of the event, they shared their earliest memories of the sea and pressed the importance of allowing future generations to 'experience the magic of healthy seas'. Ms Adlington told the PA news agency: 'I've always felt a deep connection to water, so when the opportunity came up to support coastal restoration through this event with Talisker and Blue Marine Foundation, it just felt like a natural fit. 'As a swimming challenge, this one stands out because of its direct impact on protecting and preserving marine life, with £150 from every kilometre swum helping to fund essential conservation work.' The two-time gold medal swimmer added: 'I hope people see this event as more than just a challenge, it's a call to action.' A report published by Blue Marine Foundation in July 2024 noted a 92% UK reduction in seagrass meadows and a 95% decline in native oyster reefs over the last century. Happy Valley actor Norton said: 'Like everyone, I'm in awe of the ocean. It's wild, powerful, and under threat. 'Taking a stand is about protecting biodiversity and ensuring future generations can experience the magic of healthy seas.' He added that his family goes by the mantra 'you'll never regret a swim' but admitted he had never been involved with this level of endurance swimming. New government regulations came into force on Friday which give water industry regulator Ofwat the power to retrospectively prevent bonuses paid in cash, shares or long-term incentive schemes to chief executives and chief financial officers for breaches of environmental, customer service or financial standards in a given financial year. Ms Adlington did not have a direct challenge for water companies in the UK but added that the Blue Marine Foundation was committed to coastal regeneration and improving UK waters. Ahead of the event, Norton said: 'My earliest memories of the sea are going on day trips to Scarborough. 'My whole village would cram into a coach and head to the beach for a day of fish and chips, rock and candy floss.' For every kilometre swum by participants at Joss Bay between 7am and 5pm on Friday, Talisker, who are supporting the event, will donate £150 to the foundation. The company has also pledged a further £112,608 to Blue Marine Foundation through sales of a limited edition whisky.

Elden Ring Nightreign doesn't offer duos, so players are going online to ask for a third: "Hey we saw [you] from across the Roundtable and thought you looked cool"

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Elden Ring Nightreign is finally here, but to get the full co-op roguelike experience like FromSoftware intended, you need two buddies by your side to form a trio and take on the Nightlords together. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a pair of Souls-loving friends to play with, however, which is already leading to the action RPG's subreddit getting flooded with requests from people "looking for a third." Nightreign being tailored to three people specifically is somewhat of an unusual choice. You can play solo, although it's generally not recommended, or in teams of three with friends or randoms, but pairs aren't allowed to embark on Limveld together. In fact, director Junya Ishizaki previously revealed that the concept of allowing duos to play together "is simply something that was overlooked during development," and "we're very sorry about that." Although "this is something that we are looking at and considering for post-launch support," for the time being, duos are desperately searching for solo players on the likes of Reddit to round out their teams. The dedicated Nightreign subreddit is full of this, in fact, despite it being mere hours since the game launched. The responses to these requests generally appear to be helpful, with plenty of solo players offering the likes of their PSN names so they can be recruited. However, as you might have noticed at the very start of this article, the requests also tend to be worded in such a way that, well, some have noticed that the subreddit is kind of "looking like a threesome sub right now." While some are a little more specific with their requests for "a third player," others simply beg that they "need a third," or are "two Nightfarers looking for a third." Amused onlookers have already been making plenty of jokes about the situation, which, given the need for players to form trios, is unlikely to end anytime soon. "Hey we saw [you] from across the Roundtable and thought you looked cool," one jokes, while another says: "We espied you at the Roundtable Hold and my companion found your demeanor pleasing." …Anyway, the good news is that the modder behind the popular seamless co-op mods for the likes of Dark Souls Remastered and Elden Ring is already working on a two-player mod for Nightreign. The in-progress version they've shared a video of was apparently just "made for fun," so it's not clear if there are plans to release it, but hopefully they or another modder will soon come to the rescue of PC players who just want to play with one other person. Be sure to check out our Elden Ring Nightreign review to see if it's worth your time, or our list of new games for 2025 and beyond for more upcoming releases.
