NYON, Switzerland (AP) — Israeli soccer club Maccabi Tel Aviv was paired with Pafos of Cyprus in the Champions League second qualifying round draw on Wednesday.
Maccabi must travel from its home city — which has been under attack this week from Iranian missiles — to Cyprus for the first-leg game on July 22 or 23, and find a stadium outside Israel for the return game the following week.

European soccer body UEFA has required Israel's national and club teams to play international competition games in neutral countries for security reasons since October 2023, when the Hamas attacks provoked wider conflict in the region.
Maccabi could stay in Cyprus, or return to Hungarian capital Budapest where it hosted a game in the Champions League preliminary round one year ago.
Ukrainian champion Dynamo Kyiv was drawn to play either Zalgiris of Lithuania or Hamrun Spartans of Malta, who start in the first qualifying round next month. Last season, Dynamo chose to host Champions League qualifying games in Lublin, Poland.
UEFA has set a deadline of Monday for clubs to propose neutral venues for their European competition games.

Hours before its opening game at the Club World Cup, Salzburg was paired with Brann in a separate sections for teams that did not win their domestic title. The first leg in Norway will be the Austrian club's first competitive game on returning from the United States.
In the FIFA club tournament later Wednesday, Salzburg plays Pachuca of Mexico in Cincinnati at 6 p.m. local time.
Scottish league runner-up Rangers will host the first leg against Panathinaikos from Greece, and Viktoria Plzen of Czech Republic was paired with Swiss side Servette.
Three teams in Wednesday's draw played in the 36-team Champions League opening phase last season, though none advanced to the knockout rounds. Red Star Belgrade was best placed in 29th, Salzburg was 34th and Slovan Bratislava lost all eight games and finished 35th.

Red Star, the 1991 European champion, is away first against Vikingur of the Faeroe Islands or Lincoln Red Imps from Gibraltar.
Slovan hosts the first leg against Virtus of San Marino or Zrinjski Mostar of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Losing teams in the Champions League second qualifying round switch across to the Europa League, in the third qualifying round that is played in August.
Games in the first qualifying round are played from July 8-16.
Higher-ranked clubs enter the Champions League qualifying program in two subsequent rounds played in August. They include Benfica, Celtic, Club Brugge, Fenerbahce and Feyenoord.

Agent Of Paris Saint-Germain & Italy Superstar Drops Bombshell: 'He Will Leave This Summer'

Enzo Raiola has confirmed that Gianluigi Donnarumma will leave PSG by the end of the summer transfer window. Speaking to Radio Sportiva via FCInterNews, Raiola admitted the Italy captain will not stay at the Parc des Princes. The 26-year-old's fallout with Les Parisiens has come out of the blue. Indeed, Gianluigi Donnarumma has been a crucial component of PSG's success in recent years. One of the world's best goalkeepers helped the club win its first-ever Champions League title only last season. However, only a few months later, he is on the verge of leaving Paris. Donnarumma signed a four-year contract worth €11.5 million net per season in 2021 when he arrived from AC Milan. Although the perennial Ligue 1 champions sought to extend his contract, the two sides failed to reach an agreement on the terms. PSG's €8m contract offer fell short of Donnarumma's expectations. On the other hand, Manchester City and Inter Milan have set their sights on the star goalkeeper. Gianluigi Donnarumma Agent Confirms Immediate PSG Exit BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND – APRIL 15: Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain celebrates at full-time following the team's victory and subsequent progression in the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Quarter Final Second Leg match between Aston Villa FC and Paris Saint-Germain at Villa Park on April 15, 2025 in Birmingham, England. (Photo by) 'We were informed of his exclusion upon the resumption of training,' Raiola explained. 'During the Club World Cup, they told us that his contract would not be renewed. We responded by stating our intention to stay until the end of the current deal. 'However, even during the holidays, Luis Enrique called me to see if there were any options for a departure. 'I reiterated that his wish was to stay another year. 'But as soon as we returned, they informed us of the intention to remove him from the squad. 'Up to a certain point, the negotiations were very respectful,' he added. 'We were very close to an agreement for the renewal. 'Then, at some point, there was a sudden break. 'It cannot be just a technical matter, as Luis Enrique said; otherwise, we wouldn't have been discussing a renewal until a month ago. 'A month ago, we were talking about an imminent renewal. I don't believe Luis Enrique changed his mind over the holidays.' Final Verdict 'As for the future, I don't want to make any definitive statements,' Raiola continued. 'The Premier League is an option that is of huge interest from every point of view – it's one of the best leagues in the world. S 'o far, the only player to win the Premier League as a protagonist has been Mario Balotelli; maybe Gigio will be the second. 'Serie A? Top clubs are testing the waters, but you don't see them eager to finalise a deal anytime soon. 'It's not that we're unwilling to consider a return to Serie A – it's that the clubs are looking at other options and situations. 'The truth is, there's nothing concrete in Italy right now.'

2025 English Premier League Predictions: Ranking the Top 6 Teams

English Premier League 2025 English Premier League Predictions: Ranking the Top 6 Teams Updated Aug. 13, 2025 2:35 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link With the 2026 FIFA World Cup under a year away, all eyes will be on the upcoming English Premier League campaign. The EPL is home to some of the biggest and brightest stars in world soccer, many of whom will star for their countries in next summer's 48-team tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States. EUROPE'S BEST TEAMS: WHERE BARCELONA, PSG, LIVERPOOL RANK AMONG TOP 20 Liverpool lifted the Premier League trophy last season after an outstanding 84-point season and added more attacking talent this season with big-money transfers for Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz. But is this the year Arsenal finally lift the trophy? Can Manchester City reclaim their throne? Let's take a look at the top of the Premier League and where each team ranks entering the season: Note: League positions reflect last season's finish. 1 Liverpool 1st, Premier League Last year, the Reds ran away with the Premier League title, besting second-place Arsenal by 10 points. Despite the tragic death of forward Diogo Jota, Liverpool has only gotten better this summer. Arne Slot's side has been the big winner of this transfer window, dropping north of $350 million on backup keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, defenders Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, and forwards Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz. No wonder they're the favorites to retain the English title. 2 Chelsea 4th, Premier League After finishing fourth in the Prem last term, the Blues stunned many by winning the expanded, 32-team Club World Cup in July. Can they harness that momentum and use it to challenge for English and European titles next spring? They've got the firepower. Chelsea already have an emerging superstar in winger Cole Palmer — this season he'll be supported by new recruits like strikers Liam Delap and João Pedro, Pedro's fellow Brazilian attacker Estêvão, and English forward Jamie Gittens. ADVERTISEMENT 3 Arsenal 2nd, Premier League The Premier League runner-up in each of the last three seasons, what Mikel Arteta's team is missing at this point are trophies. Still, Arsenal continues to improve. The Gunners knocked then-Champions League holders Real Madrid out of Europe's top club tournament last April, snaring a convincing 5-1 aggregate win. And they've added real quality this summer in the form of defensive midfielder Martín Zubimendi and forwards Viktor Gyökeres and Noni Madueke. City's unprecedented run of four consecutive Premier League titles came to a halt last season, when Pep Guardiola's side finished third, lost the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace, and were eliminated from European play before the Champions League's round of 16 even began. This team is too good not to bounce back in a big way this year, though — even without club legend Kevin de Bruyne, whose contract wasn't extended. 5 Newcastle 5th, Premier League The Magpies eked into the Champions League places last term only because UEFA granted England's top flight one additional spot. Newcastle fans aren't complaining though, though they will be if and when star forward Alexander Isak leaves for Liverpool on the eve of the new season. 6 Manchester Utd 15th, Premier League It's hard to believe that the 20-time English champions finished 15th last season, when they also lost the Europa League final to Premier League rivals Tottenham. But the Red Devils added forwards Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško this window, and they should fare better in Ruben Amorim's first full season at the Old Trafford helm. The home of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning renamed Benchmark International Arena

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The home of the Tampa Bay Lightning has a new name, Benchmark International Arena, after the NHL team unveiled a multiyear agreement Wednesday with the mergers and acquisitions company. The change takes effect immediately. The building that opened in 1996 had been known as Amalie Arena since 2014, and it was the site of the Lightning hoisting the Stanley Cup in 2021 for their second of back-to-back championships. Financial terms were not disclosed. Benchmark International and Vinik Sports Group, which owns the Lightning, said their partnership includes more than $3 million in nonprofit contributions to benefit the area. Vinik Sports Group CEO Steve Griggs called Benchmark 'a well-respected brand with global reach and strong ties to the Tampa Bay community' and said Amalie Motor Oil will continue to be a corporate partner of the organization. ___
