Woman charged with 28 counts of cheating involving RM172,985 in commission
A.Puvanesvari, 51, was alleged to have deceived Altrapac Sdn Bhd into believing that there was a project to supply goods, prompting a man, who is an agent for the company, to deposit commission money between RM1,000 and RM19,500 in 28 transactions totalling RM172,985 into four different bank accounts controlled by her.
She was charged with committing the offence at Vista Perdana, Jalan Bagan Jermal here, between April 26 and June 24, 2024.
The charge, framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code, provides imprisonment for up to 10 years and whipping and is liable to a fine, upon conviction.
Magistrate Aini Adilah Muhammad Faizal allowed the woman bail of RM1,000 for each charge with one surety and set June 6 for mention.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Marissa Safina Saiful Adli requested bail at RM5,000 for each charge with one surety, but lawyer Teh See Khoon, representing the accused, appealed for a minimum bail as the woman was no longer working and now relied on her husband's income of RM3,000 to support their three school-going children.

RTD cracks down on motorists driving luxury cars without road tax, insurance
KUALA LUMPUR: The actions of a foreign man driving an exotic vehicle using a fake driver's licence were uncovered during Op Luxury 3.0 conducted by the Road Transport Department (RTD) here. The motorist was stopped in Gombak after he was spotted speeding in a modified orange colour Porsche from Kuantan back to Kuala Lumpur. During the inspection, he presented a driver's licence which was suspected to be fake, and checks confirmed the document was invalid. It is believed the man had been using the forged document for the past year and claimed that the car belonged to a friend. RTD senior enforcement director, Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, said his department detained 104 luxury vehicles of various makes in the operation, which began on Thursday. He said the operation involved inspections of luxury vehicles driven by both locals and foreigners. "Twelve foreigners were screened during the operations, of which nine had committed various offences. "These offences include using fake driver's licences, driving without a licence, expired licences, expired road tax, and possession of forged documents," he said at a press conference at the RTD Kuala Lumpur impound depot on Saturday. He added that authorities did not rule out the existence of a syndicate selling such forged documents. "A detailed investigation will be conducted, and future operations may lead to the exposure of this syndicate. "This case proves that there are foreign nationals who blatantly challenge our laws by driving luxury cars without following the rules," he said. Kifli said most of the vehicles seized were valued at over RM500,000, with the majority of drivers originating from South Asia. "They gave various excuses, claiming they forgot to renew their road tax or that the vehicle belonged to a friend or relative," he said. He added that RTD would intensify joint operations with other agencies, including the Immigration Department, to ensure that foreign nationals do not flout the law. "RTD will also step up integrated operations with other agencies such as the Immigration Department. "On Monday, we will submit a proposal paper to the Transport Ministry for more drastic action against these offences," he said. He added that records showed most owners immediately renew their road tax and insurance once their vehicles are seized. "The types of vehicles detained this time differ from previous operations. These are not repeat offences by the same individuals, but rather committed by different offenders," he said.
