Driver arrested after woman injured in crash in Allendale
ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman was seriously injured and a man arrested after a crash in Allendale Monday.
It happened a little after 11:30 p.m. in front of the Allendale Township Fire station on Lake Michigan Drive east of 68th Avenue. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says a deputy happened to be nearby and heard the crash happen, quickly radioing it back to dispatch.
Deputies say witnesses told them an eastbound Honda Civic was going at 'very high speeds' before the driver lost control, hit the curb and then crashed into a power pole. The car was split into two pieces.
A passenger, a 25-year-old woman from Grand Rapids, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries to the face.
The driver, a 25-year-old Grand Rapids man, also needed treatment at the hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. He was arrested at the scene of the crash, though deputies did not explain in a Tuesday morning release what charges he might face.

4 Gulf World dolphins adjust to Clearwater Marine Aquarium, 7 still await relocation
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) – On Wednesday, June 4, News 13 broke the story about the four Gulf World Marine Park dolphins being relocated to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Crews arrived at Gulf World around 11 p.m. Tuesday, loaded up the animals and headed south. They arrived in Clearwater around 11 a.m. E.T. Wednesday morning. All the rough-toothed female dolphins appeared to immediately take to their new surroundings. The staff in Clearwater set benchmarks for the dolphins to gauge how they are adjusting. On Friday, June 6, they told local officials all four of the animals blew away those benchmarks and are 'thriving' in their new home. 4 Gulf World dolphins moved to Clearwater Marine Aquarium As for the seven remaining bottle-nosed dolphins still at Gulf World, local officials told News 13 they are still waiting on the results of some tissue and fluid tests done within the last week. The results will determine if the dolphins are healthy and able to be placed with other dolphins. Once they're medically clear, they'll be transferred to another facility that has yet to be confirmed. Some in the decision-making process don't want them to go to another 'Dolphin Company-owned' facility. They point to the fact that the company is currently in bankruptcy proceedings and the poor conditions at Gulf World. Five dolphins have died at Gulf World since October 2024. NJ man beat, strangled pregnant wife in front of her daughter: court documents
NEW JERSEY (PIX11) — A man has been found guilty of strangling his pregnant wife in front of her daughter in Newark, N.J., the prosecutor's office of Essex County announced Friday. Milton Chogllo, a 31-year-old from Newark, was found guilty by a jury of second- and third-degree aggravated assault, according to court documents. More Local News According to an investigation on March 5, 2023, Chogllo strangled and beat his 32-year-old wife outside their home on Bergen Street. At the time of the assault, the victim was six months pregnant, authorities said. The woman's 14-year-old daughter witnessed the assault, police said. 'Justice for victims of domestic violence is not just about punishment — it's about protection, dignity, and the unwavering message that abuse will never be tolerated,' said Assistant Prosecutor Ventola. Chogllo is scheduled for sentencing on July 18, 2025. The victim's daughter provided crucial testimony during the trial against Chogllo, officials said.
