Amazon to broadcast 17 NBA Cup games, including championship, on Prime Video
Amazon announced its NBA Cup broadcast schedule on Wednesday, with Prime Video slated to show 17 of the games, including the championship. The league also announced the overall NBA Cup schedule on Wednesday, with several matchups already assigned to broadcast networks. Prime will show 10 NBA Cup group games and the knockout rounds. Its NBA on Prime Cup Nights will feature five straight weeks of group play doubleheaders starting Oct. 31. That night, Boston will visit Philadelphia and Memphis will host the Los Angeles Lakers. On Nov. 7, Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs will host the Houston Rockets and new acquisition Kevin Durant. The other 50 group games will be split between ESPN, NBC and NBA League Pass. There will be group play Nov. 25 on NBC, when Philadelphia hosts Orlando and the Los Angeles Clippers visit the Los Angeles Lakers. ESPN will show a trio of group games on Nov. 26. Detroit visits Boston, MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and defending champion Oklahoma City hosts Minnesota in a rematch of the Western Conference Finals, and Golden State hosts Houston. Earlier this week, the opening night, Christmas and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day games were announced. The full schedule — 80 of the 82 games for all teams — will be released Thursday. Rangers place Adolis Garcia on IL with ankle injury
August 13 - By Field Level Media Adolis Garcia was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a sprained left ankle and the Texas Rangers activated fellow outfielder Evan Carter before the finale of their home series with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Garcia, 32, is batting .224 with 16 home runs and 64 RBIs this season. The two-time All-Star had a four-game hitting streak before going 0-for-4 in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Diamondbacks but is batting .196 in August. Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday night the Rangers "were just bad" in the loss and pointed to ongoing offensive issues as a concern as Texas attempts to keep pace in the wild-card race. Carter, 22, last played on Aug. 1 and is batting .238 with four home runs and 21 RBIs this season. Carter had a .185 batting average in July. Carter, drafted out of high school with the 50th overall pick by the Rangers in 2020, was placed on the IL with a back injury.

Report: Sun sale could be impacted by WNBA relocation fee
August 13 - By Field Level Media Looking for a greater say in the sale and relocation of the Connecticut Sun franchise, the WNBA is looking to impose an additional fee on the potential transaction, Front Office Sports reported Wednesday. The Sun has matching $325-million bids to acquire the team from the Mohegan Tribe in Connecticut, according to reports, with both prospective owners intent on relocating the team to separate cities in New England. The WNBA, though, is believed to be interested in Houston as the new home of the Sun. Whatever ownership group and city are selected, the WNBA reportedly now wants an additional undisclosed relocation fee to accompany the deal. A deal to buy the Sun was first agreed upon between Boston Celtics minority owner Steve Pagliuca and the Mohegan Tribe in July. But WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert reportedly never presented the deal to the league's board of governors for approval. When the exclusive sale window expired, former Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry submitted his own offer, CT Insider reported. Pagliuca is believed to be interested in moving the team to Boston, while Lasry is interested in Hartford, Conn., as the team's new home. According to FOS, the league would prefer that Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta purchase the team for $325 million, while also paying the undisclosed relocation fee to move the team to Texas' largest city. Fertitta's bid for an expansion team was not accepted earlier this year when Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia were selected as future locations of teams after each agreed to a $250-million expansion fee.
