Jonny Clayton has secured his third European Tour event win with victory over Germany's Niko Springer in the Dutch Darts Championship final.
Clayton defeated Springer, who is ranked 93rd in the world, 8-6 and secure his first European Tour event win since winning the Austrian Open two years ago.
Earlier in the day Clayton had defeated Ross Smith and Danny Noppert before a 7-5 victory over Luke Humphries.
The 50-year-old Welshman had lost to Josh Rock of Northern Ireland in the final of last year's Dutch Darts Championship.
"This is a great feeling," said Clayton, who becomes the new world number five following his success in Rosmalen.
"I missed out to Josh Rock last year and I've gone one better this year. I've also had a ProTour win in Rosmalen, so this may be my new lucky home!
"What a player Niko is. He's got such a big future. He's a great lad with a great attitude, and he shows it on that dartboard.
"I came back somehow, and then I managed to get ahead and stay ahead. I'm so pleased to get over the line; it's brilliant."

Tiger Woods' Win Percentage Outpaced by Scottie Scheffler amid Memorial Win

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Scottie Scheffler continues to reach new heights in his career, prompting comparisons to Tiger Woods. Comments like Jack Nicklaus's recent statement that Scheffler is playing better than he ever did certainly contribute to the conversation. The World No. 1's victory at the Memorial Tournament is another stone in the monument to his greatness, and not a small one. According to the X Underdog Golf tally, Scheffler has won 16 of his last 72 starts on the PGA Tour, representing an impressive 22.2% winning percentage. For comparison, Tiger Woods's career winning percentage is 21.7%. Scottie Scheffler last 72 starts (since first win): 62 top 25s (86%) 51 top 10s (71%) 16 wins (22.2%) Tiger's career win rate is 21.7%. — Underdog Golf (@UnderdogGolf) June 1, 2025 There is no doubt that Scheffler's growth from 2022 to the present has been exponential. During that period, he finished in the top 25 in 86% of the 62 tournaments he played and in the top 10 in 71% of them. This, coupled with his win rate, demonstrates his current overwhelming superiority. However, these statistics also demonstrate the enormous gap that continues to separate Tiger Woods from the rest of the golf world. Note that the winning percentage cited by Underdog Golf for the 15-time major winner corresponds to his entire career spanning 28 PGA Tour seasons. Woods has won 82 of the 378 PGA Tour tournaments he has played in (21.7%). This record still seems untouchable, even in light of Scheffler's extraordinary performance in recent years. Woods' impressive statistics include 339 cuts made (89.7%), 163 top-five finishes (43.1%), and 199 top-10 finishes (52.6%). Bubba Watson of the United States poses with the green jacket after winning the 2014 Masters Tournament by a three-stroke margin at Augusta National Golf Club on April 13, 2014 in Augusta, Georgia. Bubba Watson of the United States poses with the green jacket after winning the 2014 Masters Tournament by a three-stroke margin at Augusta National Golf Club on April 13, 2014 in Augusta, the four consecutive seasons in which Woods' performance peaked (1999–2002) makes it clear how far ahead of his competitors he was. During that period, the 82-time PGA Tour winner played in 78 tournaments and made the cut in all of them. He won an impressive 34.6% of those events (27), and finished in the top 10 in 70.5% of them (55). It's also worth mentioning that he achieved another five victories on the European Tour during that same period. The bottom line is that it's probably safe to say Scheffler is the best player on the PGA Tour since Tiger Woods. However, he is nowhere close to what the Big Cat achieved inside the ropes. Jones a contender as Cardiff hopeful on manager appointment

Cardiff City hope to announce their new manager this week, with Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones still in contention. The Bluebirds are looking for a ninth manager in four years as they prepare for life in League One following their relegation from the Championship this season. Advertisement After a sub-committee compiled a shortlist of around six, chairman Mehmet Dalman and chief executive Ken Choo have spoken to the candidates and presented their recommendations to owner Vincent Tan, who will have the final say. Jones has been a leading contender since Cardiff sacked previous manager Omer Riza in April, but hiring the Welshman would mean having to pay Charlton a significant compensation fee. Matters are further complicated by the fact Jones led the Addicks to promotion to the Championship last month, meaning they will start next season a division above Cardiff. But Jones is a lifelong Bluebirds fan and has spoken openly about his desire to manage the club one day. Advertisement Des Buckingham and Ian Evatt, former bosses of Oxford United and Bolton Wanderers respectively, have both been interviewed. Cardiff have also held talks with Leicester City assistant coach Brian Barry-Murphy and Wales captain Aaron Ramsey, who took charge of the Welsh club's final three games of this season on a caretaker basis. But Ruben Selles, who was considered for the job when Cardiff sacked Erol Bulut last year, has ruled himself out as he wants to stay in the Championship following his recent dismissal by Hull City. Sources have indicated to BBC Sport Wales that some board members would like to see Tan appoint an experienced manager with a proven track record at this level, such as Jones or Buckingham, who led Oxford to promotion from League One last season. Advertisement Others would favour a different route, with ex-Manchester City academy coach Barry-Murphy and Ramsey still in the frame. Ramsey, whose Cardiff contract expires this summer, has still not decided whether or not he will continue playing next season. The 34-year-old former Arsenal midfielder enjoyed his brief stint in charge of his boyhood club, where he was assisted by his ex-Cardiff and Wales team-mate Chris Gunter among others. If Cardiff were to choose Ramsey or Barry-Murphy, whose only managerial experience came at Rochdale between 2019 and 2021, it has been suggested the club would need to revamp its structure. Advertisement The Bluebirds have been heavily criticised for their perceived lack of football knowledge at board level, with fans and former players calling on Tan to appoint a sporting director or someone of similar standing between the head coach and the board.

Where Florida basketball's guard trio land on ESPN big board

Where Florida basketball's guard trio land on ESPN big board Florida's backcourt was arguably the best in college basketball during the 2024-25 season, so it's no surprise to see Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin and Will Richard land inside the top 80 on ESPN's 2025 NBA draft big board. Draft experts often use big boards to rank the top 100 (or more) overall prospects, regardless of the team making the pick or the player's fit. It puts the politics of the draft to the side for a moment and allows fans to see who the most talented players are. While none of the three landed inside the top 25 — there are 30 picks in each round — Clayon is still a projected first-rounder, landing at No. 27 overall. The college basketball world fell in love with Clayton's clutch factor and sweet stroke from beyond the arc during March Madness, and the same likely goes for a couple of decision-makers inside NBA front offices. Even if Clayton doesn't get selected in the first round, it's hard to see him falling lower than either of the other two Gators on this list. Next on the list is Martin at No. 61, two spots ahead of Alabama guard Mark Sears. It's a big drop from the 20s where Clayton is, and if the draft were to select these players in order, Martin would be left out. Still, he has a chance to sneak into the second round thanks to his tenacious defense and leadership qualities. Finally, Richard sits at No. 77 on the big board. He could very well sneak into the second round, but more likely will sign as an undrafted free agent, similar to Zyon Pullin last year. Richard improved his driving ability, defense and found his shooting touch from deep late in the year. He's an intriguing prospect with a lot of upside.
