Sahith Theegala WDs for third time in last five starts, the latest at RBC Canadian Open

Sahith Theegala WDs for third time in last five starts, the latest at RBC Canadian Open The pain in Sahith Theegala's neck just won't go away. The 27-year-old Pepperdine grad withdrew from the RBC Canadian Open on Wednesday. He was replaced in the field by Cameron Champ. 'I've been battling the last few weeks, so this one stings,' Theegala wrote in a social media post on Instagram. It marks the third time that Theegala has had to withdraw due to injury in his last five starts. He pulled out of the Truist Championship in May after shooting 78 in the third round. A few days later, he withdrew from the PGA Championship before the tournament began. He returned last week to Muirfield Village for the Memorial but posted 74-77 to miss the 36-hole cut. Theegala is a RBC ambassador so he said it was with a 'heavy heart' that he was withdrawing to get treatment and rest his injury. Theegala didn't specifically mention if he'd be able to compete next week at the U.S. Open at Oakmont, but he hinted that he might be sidelined for a stretch. Theegala finished third in the FedEx Cup last year and was selected by U.S. Captain Jim Furyk for the Presidents Cup last October in Montreal. This season has been a disappointment to date with only two top-25s in 15 starts. He ranks No. 119 in the FedEx Cup and his world ranking has dipped to No. 39. "The RBC Canadian Open always treats players so well, and I was really excited to play the new venue at TPC Toronto this year. The place looks beautiful and I've heard so many great things about the golf course and the facility overall," Theegala wrote. "Doctors have advised me to put the clubs away for a little while as I get treatment and rest for an injury I've been battling the last few weeks, so this one stings."

PGA Tour Golfer a Late Withdraw From RBC Canadian Open as Wife Goes Into Labor

PGA Tour Golfer a Late Withdraw From RBC Canadian Open as Wife Goes Into Labor originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The RBC Canadian Open tees off on Thursday and players have already started to appear for the pro-am. But PGA Tour was hit with another withdrawal. Only this time, the news isn't so bad. Advertisement Greyson Sigg has decided to withdraw from the tournament midway through the pro-am because his wife went into labor. The nearly $4.5 million golfer is going to become a dad. This could be one of the best reasons for exiting the competition, if not the best. In his place, Zac Blair, the nearly $8 million golfer, takes the field. He participated in the Charles Schwab Challenge but missed the cut just like Sigg, carding rounds of 72 and 70. He posted a beautiful photo of himself and his fiancée flaunting the ring on her finger. Advertisement "Finally did the damn thing! Looking forward to life with my best friend ❤️. Couldn't have done it without my @clubcar. #committotheG" He captioned. They married exactly one year later in September of 2022 in Highlands, North Carolina. Sigg is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he was teammates with Sepp Straka, the Truist Championship winner. While at Georgia, he etched his name in the program's history by recording a 71.93 scoring average, ranking sixth‑best all‑time. Since turning professional in 2017, Sigg has competed in 117 events and made the cut in 64 of them. He has amassed nine top‑10 finishes, including one top‑5. Scottie Scheffler's Earnings in the Past 30 Days Revealed

Scottie Scheffler's Earnings in the Past 30 Days Revealed originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Scottie Scheffler secured his 16th PGA Tour victory at Jack's Place on Sunday. This past month has been incredibly successful for him. He won three of the four tournaments he entered, giving him a massive financial boost. Advertisement Scheffler's first win came at the Byron Nelson, earning him $1.782 million in prize money. He chose to skip the $20 million Truist Championship, won by Sepp Straka, to get some rest. His second victory came at the PGA Championship, giving him his third major title and $3.420 million. He then finished tied for fourth at the Charles Schwab Challenge (where Ben Griffin lifted the trophy), but still added $427,500 to his purse. Finally, with his Memorial Tournament win, he took home $4 million, bringing his total winnings for the month to $9.629 million, nearly $10 million. Immediately after securing the win, he went into the crowd, where his wife was waiting while holding their son, Bennett, and embraced them both. Advertisement 'We're so excited!' Meredith exclaimed. 'That was amazing… I'm so proud of you.' Scheffler then took baby Bennett in his arms and shared heartfelt moments with him as the audience cheered and clapped for the winner. Jack Nicklaus, the legend of the sport, was impressed by the World No. 1. He candidly said that today's competition at the top wasn't on par with Scheffler's level of skill. If Xander Schauffele or another top golfer had been there, things would have been a bit tougher for Scheffler. 'He is such a good player, and he drove the ball beautifully today,' Nicklaus said. 'He never put himself in jeopardy; he didn't put himself in a position to lose the golf tournament. He was always in a position to win.'
