EXCLUSIVE Richard Gere's wife reveals why they are planning a RETURN to the US months after relocating to Spain
But the actor, 75, has no plans to make the relocation permanent, with his wife Alejandra Silva, 42, revealing she misses America.
The couple sold their expansive Connecticut ranch and relocated to Silva's native Spain, setting up home in Madrid with their sons Alexander, six, and James, four.
But asked if they have plans to live there long-term, Silva told DailyMail.com: 'For a few years and then come back [to the US]. But we're always coming back. We'll come back here in the summer because we have the kids at camp. We just have to balance our lives there and here.
'I'm with my family... You know, I missed them a lot. But I miss the US. So we come back and forth.'
Silva, a publicist and activist, was speaking at the City Harvest Gala in New York on Tuesday night where she was joined by Gere and his son Homer.
The 25-year-old, whose mom is Gere's second wife Carey Lowell, said he is keen for them to return to the US.
'I've been told they're going to move back within the next few years, so hopefully that's the case because I miss them here,' he said.
He denied that they 'escaped because of politics' and remained coy when asked if they are much happier there.
'It's the same people,' he said. 'Just a different place. It doesn't change the world. Spain's beautiful.'
Gere and Silva first met on Italy's idyllic Amalfi Coast in 2014 when both were navigating a divorce: Gere from Lowell, and Silva from her husband, Canadian businessman Govind Friedland with whom she has a son.
They were married in 2018 at a private ceremony at Gere's estate in upstate New York and lived stateside until late last year.
'We're happier than ever,' he told Elle in January just weeks after the move. 'She's happy because she's at home, and I'm happy because if she's happy, I'm happy.'
Speaking previously about the decision to relocate, he told Vanity Fair that it was only fair for his wife.
Gere's son Homer (left) echoed the sentiments, adding: 'I've been told they're going to move back within the next few years, so hopefully that's the case because I miss them here'
'She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so I think it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers,' he told the magazine.
The Runaway Bride star is among a host of Hollywood stars who have turned their backs on the US for the sunny European hotspot.
Amber Heard quietly quit Hollywood for Madrid in 2022 as she wanted to raise her daughter 'away from all the noise.'
The actress sold her home in Yucca Valley, California, for $1.1million.
Eva Longoria and her husband José Bastón, 56, are plotting to quit Los Angeles for Marbella after splitting more time between the two.
'I live more in Spain than I do [the US]... I would love to be there permanently,' she told DailyMail.com back in June.
'I'm a Spanish resident, so I can work and stay there.'
Longoria - who married Bastón in 2016 - purchased a six-bedroom, seven-bathroom mega mansion in Marbella in early 2023, with the couple hiring architect and interior designer Nicolás Escanez to help renovate.
It came as they listed their Beverly Hills property for $18.9million.
Although not directly related to Donald Trump's election victory, the actress said she felt 'privileged' to be able to 'escape and go somewhere.'
'Most Americans aren't so lucky,' she told Marie Claire back in November. 'They are going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and my sadness is for them.'
Other celebrities involved in the mass exodus from the US include Rosie O'Donnell, who fled to Ireland with her daughter, America Ferrera, who was reportedly looking at schools in London for her children, and Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi, who swapped their Montecito mansion for a $19 million historic farmhouse in the British countryside.

Why queer theatre matters, now more than ever
In a time of rising hate speech and political regression, queer theatre remains a force of resistance, healing, and joy. Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... Across generations and borders, queer stories offer more than entertainment. They give language to the unspoken and courage to those still finding their way. This year, one of the standout queer shows doing just that is A Drag Is Born, a wordless solo performance by Spanish artist Edu Díaz. Performed entirely without dialogue, the show is a universal expression of queerness and transformation. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'In these weird times of hate speech and rage — when in countries like Spain, youth are leaning toward the far right — queer theatre feels more urgent than ever. I'm not sure if I'm 'preaching to the choir' here at Fringe, but my dream is to perform for conservative audiences, where queer kids might be struggling to be themselves.' Edu Diaz in A Drag is Born 'The wordless nature of A Drag Is Born makes it borderless, universal and accessible to many different types of audiences,' Edu explains. Not only is the performance accessible, but it is also deeply personal for Diaz. A Drag Is Born was created in the wake of a homophobic outburst from a longtime acting coach. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Weeks before my first solo show, my longtime acting coach turned violent. He started throwing insults, and one day, he cornered me in a hallway and called me 'little f****t'. That moment made me think about the countless times I'd hidden, pretended to be straight, or felt shame for who I am.' Edu Diaz in A Drag Is Born 'Every show is different,' he says. 'I embark on a mystical ride of empowerment with the audience. A Drag Is Born, literally.' Edu's advice to emerging queer artists: 'Your truest work comes from your deepest self. Whatever's inside, the joy, the pain, the weirdness, put it out there. That's how you defeat monsters.' For A Drag Is Born producer Jess Ducey, the personal impact of queer representation also runs deep. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad "Representation matters! I didn't come out until my thirties, in part because growing up in Florida meant I didn't see many reference points for queerness. But in my twenties, I found myself drawn to queer stories, in books, theatre, film, and more, and they gave me the words to describe what I felt." Edu Diaz in A Drag is Born 'If our stories didn't matter, artists wouldn't find themselves silenced over and over and over throughout history. It's flattering, in a way, to realize that some sequins or a puppet or a silly dance can pose such a threat to the status quo. It's an acknowledgment of our power, and a reminder that, collectively, we can shape better, more equitable, and joyous worlds.'

Bonnie Blue and 'nervous' Ibiza Final Boss meet up as she makes wild confession
Bonnie Blue has flown over to the Spanish party island to meet viral raver Ibiza Final Boss after reaching out to him on Instagram and she has now revealed exactly what the encounter was like. Ibiza Final Boss has met up with controversial adult star Bonnie Blue after she flew out to Ibiza for a surprise visit. Geordie raver Jack Kay, who became an internet sensation overnight thanks to his distinctive haircut, had an awkward exchange with the sex star as he nervously hugged her during the unexpected meet up. Bonnie Blue, who has been booted off OnlyFans for her extreme content, is known to fly out to party hot spots to find men to sleep with and film for her work. Known for her rage-bait tactics, the 26-year-old was quick to jump on the opportunity to meet Jack, also 26, who had just launched his own single bragging:" Your bird listens to the Ibiza Final Boss ". The cringe clip shows Jack with his arm around Bonnie as he turns his head away from her. Another moment shows the duo awkwardly making conversation, standing noticeably far away from each other. Following their painful encounter, Bonnie said in a now-deleted clip: "It was my shortest video yet. I was shocked how nervous he was." The bizarre meet up comes after Bonnie sparked fury from Jack's followers when she sent him a cheeky message over the weekend, following reports that his girlfriend had dumped him over his partying ways, the Mirror reports. Making the most of his viral fame, the Ibiza Final Boss posted a video of him in the Spanish party island with the caption: "The final boss can't be slayed… your misses on the other hand? Her levels been completed". Bonnie was seemingly desperate to also profit off of Jack's viral moment as she replied to his post with a suggestive eyes emoji. Jack's fans flooded the comments warning him to 'stay away' from the star, but it seems he didn't listen. Bonnie's surprise visit comes after reports that Jack's love life is in trouble. His glamorous girlfriend Alisha Cook reportedly dumped him on his first Ibiza trip, just days before he went viral. The Newcastle lad is now said to be fighting to save his relationship with the model and debt collector from Co Durham. Alisha was allegedly so angry with her boyfriend's antics in Ibiza that she broke up with him before videos of his haircut made him go viral. The couple have reportedly worked things out since, but a friend of Jack's warned he was 'skating on thin ice' over his party lifestyle. They told the Daily Mail: "Alisha called it off when Jack went to Ibiza with the lads. They'd been together for almost a year and he was living at her place but things hadn't been right for months. "His car is still on her drive, she threw all his clothes in the back of it. She doesn't want him around anymore. She's had inklings that something was not right for a while. She just wants to wash her hands of him. Alisha is so beautiful. No one is quite sure what she saw in him." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! However, it appears Alisha had a quick change of heart as she's now publicly declared herself as Jack's girlfriend since he rose to internet stardom. In a series of TikTok videos captioned: "POV: ya boyfriend's now known as Ibiza Final Boss," Alisha is seen cosying up to Jack, including clips of him kissing her cheek and the two of them partying together. However, the video has since been made private and Alisha is yet to speak out following the video of Jack and Bonnie.
