A boy is in custody after an alleged armed carjacking and police chase in Wayne County Thursday night.
The Wayne Police Department says officers responded to a report of an armed carjacking around 10 p.m. Authorities say a Mitsubishi Outlander was stolen at gunpoint.
Responding officers spotted the Mitsubishi on Annapolis Street near Venoy Road and attempted to make a traffic stop, but the boy continued driving, police say.
The boy stopped around one block east on Columbus Street, near Annapolis Street, after a short police pursuit. He and another boy riding in the Mitsubishi then ran from the vehicle.
Police say officers chased the boys on foot for a short time. The boy driving the Mitsubishi was taken into custody and placed at the Wayne County Juvenile Facility.
The boy passenger was not taken into custody.
No one was injured during the incident.
It's unknown if charges will be filed.

Those who remained at the scene were detained, with one released with no charges and another held for further investigation and questioning, according to past reporting. Police dogs and a drone were deployed to locate evidence and the individuals involved, officials said. Charges have now been filed against three men in connection with the incident – Ellis A. Pryor, 20, 1700 block of Molitor Road in Aurora; Demeir L. Miller, 23, 800 block of North May Street in Aurora; and Francis E. Whitaker, 21, of the 800 block of Konen Avenue in Aurora, according to the press release. All three men face charges including armed robbery with a firearm; armed robbery, discharged firearm causing great bodily harm or death; aggravated battery involving a discharged firearm; armed violence, committing a felony with a Category I weapon; aggravated unlawful restraint; mob action violence; aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon; and unlawful restraint. Whitaker also faces a charge of unlawful possession of a weapon in a vehicle with a previous conviction, the release stated.

An armed robbery on Monday evening in Aurora Township left one person injured, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office. On Monday at around 6:36 p.m., the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an armed robbery with shots fired and an individual injured on the 800 block of Konen Avenue in Aurora Township, the news release said. According to a preliminary investigation, three people had approached a red Mitsubishi Outlander demanding its driver, a man from Aurora, give them his money and cell phone. The items were taken, and one of the individuals fired a weapon, injuring the Aurora man's right leg, according to the release. The man was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora with non-life-threatening injuries and later released, the news release said. DUI arrest made after pedestrian hit, killed in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – A woman is facing a DUI charge following a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on Memorial Day. Police charged 22-year-old Alyssa Rain Farmer in regard to the crash reported Monday around 12:48 a.m. near the 115 block of Swannanoa River Road. Officers determined that the pedestrian was walking east on Swannanoa River Road or near the center line of the roadway when the victim was hit by a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander traveling in the same direction. The individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The pedestrian's identity has not been released at this time. Farmer was reported not injured, police said. Once the investigation is completed, officers said they will consult with the Buncombe County District Attorney's Office.
