Priyank began his journey in Mumbai's technology sector in 2006. By 2008, his passion for patient-focused innovation led him into the medical technology field. Since then, he has developed transformative solutions in areas including blood management, infusion pump therapy, clinical diagnostics, and cardiac mapping and ablation.
Each project he has led is unified by a steadfast commitment to safety, usability, and effectiveness.
He led the UI development for a blood apheresis system that enables autotransfusion during surgeries, reducing the need for donor blood. His design dramatically improved workflow and reduced training time for clinicians. For infusion pumps, Priyank designed real-time safety-critical systems used in ICUs and oncology units to ensure precise medication delivery.

Priyank pioneered cloud-based verification frameworks that automatically test thousands of medical device functions daily. This drastically improves quality assurance while accelerating regulatory approvals in different geographies, such as FDA approvals in the U.S. Priyank Soni shares that he led the design and development of a custom automation framework that saved $9 million and over 200 days of manual effort for a major Boston-based medical device firm.
The automated framework design and architecture are now adopted by engineers located in the U.S., India, Canada, Germany, Costa Rica, and China, according to Mr. Soni.

Beyond his engineering achievements, Priyank is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of biomedical engineers. Weight-loss drug Wegovy starts at ₹17,345 in India
Mumbai: Wegovy (semaglutide), the popular weight-loss drug from Danish drug maker Novo Nordisk , is priced between '17,345 and '26,015 across dosages in India. The company announced at its launch that the easy-to-administer once-a-weekly pen-filled injectable will have the advantage of convenient dosing. The drug will be available in five dosing strengths (0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.7 and 2.4 mg) and will be prescribed for long-term chronic weight management and reduction in risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). New award launched honouring Chennai-based psychiatrist
Yunyu Xiao, assistant professor of population health sciences at Weill Cornell Medical College, was the inaugural recipient of the newly-launched Lakshmi Vijayakumar Rising Star Award for Impact and Innovation by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP). Dr. Xiao was recognised for her innovative work in data science and health disparities in suicide prevention, according to a press note. The recipients of the 2025 awards were celebrated at a special ceremony held during the 33rd IASP World Congress in Vienna earlier this month. IASP introduced two new honours designed to recognise leadership, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration, one of which is named after senior Chennai-based psychiatrist, Lakshmi Vikayakumar. This award was established to recognise early to mid-career professionals who have made notable contributions to suicide prevention across research, policy, practice, and community sectors.

Pb set to launch healthcare skill training programme for agniveers
Bathinda: Punjab is set to become the first state in the country to roll out structured healthcare skill training for Agniveers, as Faridkot-based Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) has approached the Western Command to start clinical and skill courses for the Agniveers when they finish their four-year stint. The healthcare skill training programme includes courses such as geriatric caregiver, which provides specialised care for older adults. Initially, two courses are being introduced: Geriatric Caregiver and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Each course will last approximately four months, with a target to provide skills to 200 Agniveers annually. This initiative not only supports the reintegration of Agniveers into civilian life with valuable healthcare skills, but also addresses the growing demand for trained medical professionals in the country. To start with, 200 Agniveers will receive training at the Faridkot skill centre of the university under a tripartite agreement involving BFUHS, Western Command, and the Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM). It will operate under a hub-and-spoke model, with the university acting as the hub to start the training of trainers (ToT) courses. A meeting between BFUHS and PSDM was held on Tuesday. The upcoming launch of the programme for Agniveers was the focal point of the discussions, making Punjab the pioneering state in this domain.
