ESPN ranks Iowa football QB among top 100 transfer portal additions
Iowa hopes that South Dakota State transfer quarterback Mark Gronowski can help revitalize the Hawkeyes' offense and, in particular, its passing attack.
With his combination of leadership and dual-threat ability, Gronowski is expected to provide the proper trigger man that can truly unlock Tim Lester's offense at Iowa in Lester's second season with the program.
In ESPN's final transfer portal rankings, Gronowski checks in at No. 44 nationally.
This guy is the very definition of substance over style. All he does is make good decisions and win. It's not always pretty and his methods can be unorthodox, but the end result is among the elite in college football. An adequate athlete, Gronowski shines with his accuracy. He'll bring experience and smart play along with a sky-high expectation to perform, which he has done his entire career. - Tom Luginbill, ESPN.
Gronowski led South Dakota State to a pair of FCS national championships and his 49-6 career mark ties him for the most wins by a quarterback at the FCS level.

During his time with the Jackrabbits, Gronowski passed for 10,309 yards and 93 touchdowns and he ran for an additional 1,767 yards and 37 scores. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound quarterback passed and rushed for a touchdown in the same game 26 times across his 55 career starts.
What a win for the Hawkeyes. They were looking to improve their QB situation for 2025 via the portal, and their patience paid off when Gronowski hit the market. There's not a more experienced or accomplished QB in this cycle when you consider he's played more than 3,000 career snaps. Gronowski was productive in his lone start against Power 4 competition in 2024, throwing for 264 yards and two TDs with one interception in a 44-20 loss at Oklahoma State. He'll be eager to prove he can compete at the highest level in the Big Ten. - Max Olson, ESPN.
Gronowski had offseason shoulder surgery and is expected to resume full-time activities during Iowa's summer program.

Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua to discuss college athletics with President Trump
Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua to discuss college athletics with President Trump Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua and SEC commissioner Greg Sankey are reportedly meeting with President Donald Trump Sunday to discuss the future of college athletics. According to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo! Sports, Bevacqua and Sankey are traveling to Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster to have a round with the 47th President, who is interested in discussing the college sports industry's future while on the course. This reported meeting comes at a time when the state of college athletics has never been more in flux. The House vs. NCAA settlement was finally finalized this past Friday evening, clearing a path for future revenue-sharing payments to be made directly to student-athletes for the very first time, further professionalizing college athletics. It allows for the establishment of an NIL Go Clearinghouse, which would have to approve NIL payments of more than $600 to student-athletes beginning this summer. Trump's interest in college athletics is nothing new. Previously he was working on a college sports commission that reportedly was going to be co-chaired by former Alabama head coach Nick Saban. Certainly there is never a dull day in the business of college athletics. Texas A&M lands star outfielder and Flower Mound (TX) native from the transfer portal
Texas A&M lands star outfielder and Flower Mound (TX) native from the transfer portal Texas A&M's 2026 baseball roster will won't look drastically different, but will include several new faces from Florida Atlantic's 2025 roster, as pitcher Michael (MJ) Bollinger committed to the Aggies on Friday, while star outfielder Jake Duer, who was the Owl's best hitter before his season-ending injury, is also headed to College Station next season. With the news that Utility player/outfielder Jamal George has entered the transfer portal, Duer's addition is timely, and his Texas connection as a Flower Mound (TX) native started his career at TCU before transferring to FAU. At the same time, his elite statline included 428/.551/1.048 with 11 doubles, 27 RBIs, and 21 walks in 34 games before his injury. Knowing that infielder Wyatt Henseler is out of eligibility and junior outfielder Jace LaViolette is likely headed to the 2025 MLB Draft, it was vital for second-year head coach Michael Earley to land an elite hitter with experience, knowing that third baseman Gavin Grahovac is returning from his season-ending injury. Duer is an immediate starting option with plenty of production. However, he only hit two home runs, which is the only knock for a player hitting .428. Entering the 2026 season as a senior, this is a big year for Duer, who has his own MLB dreams, knowing that a great season in the SEC can solidify his baseball future. Star junior outfielder Caden Sorrell has yet to announce his return, but knowing that his former Marcus High School teammate is now on the team, that could all but seal the deal.
