The tea shop belonged to a member of a scheduled tribe at Mamalakandam. The accused has been identified as Ratheeshan aka Kunjan of Mamalakandam. The tea shop owner, Vinod, and his neighbour, a woman who happened to be at the tea shop, were injured in the incident which took the residents by surprise on Sunday around 6 p.m. Both the accused and the victims were in the hospital undergoing treatment.
