Woke Triple J takes a dig at Taylor Swift at the end of their news segment - as they continue their hate campaign against pop star

Daily Maila day ago
A Triple J newsreader has taken a thinly-veiled dig at Taylor Swift following the announcement of her new studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Presenter Jack James raised eyebrows on Friday's breakfast show as he wrapped up his news bulletin by sarcastically announcing: 'That's the news for the day. I am off to announce my 12th studio album on my boyfriend's podcast now.'
His comment clearly poked fun at Swift for unveiling her 12th studio album on this week's episode of her boyfriend Travis Kelce 's New Heights podcast.
Triple J, an ABC-owned station that brands itself as an inde broadcaster, has made no secret of its dislike for Swift's music due to its mainstream pop appeal, having largely excluded her music from its rotation for a decade.
Back in 2014, the station famously banned the songstress' music after a social media campaign for her hit Shake It Off to take out the Hottest 100.
The campaign gained so much traction that even KFC jumped on board, with the fast food chain offering a $19.89 voucher - in reference to the pop star's 1989 album - to customers who posted their favourite Swift song.
The move ultimately breached the countdown's strict policy of disqualifying artists who receive commercial endorsement.
'Their #Tay4Hottest100 campaign bought Taylor a one-way ticket to Bansville,' the ABC wrote in an article revealing the decision to disqualify her.
However, in a statement to Daily Mail Australia in 2023, Triple J insisted Swift was not actually 'banned' from Australia's biggest annual music competition.
'There has never been a ban on Taylor Swift as an artist appearing in triple j's Hottest 100, however we were forced to disqualify one of her tracks in the Hottest 100 of 2014 because voting guidelines were breached,' a spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, Swift's decision to announce her new album on Kelce's podcast has also ruffled some feathers among critics.
Hannah Ferguson, who has been described as a 'next-generation feminist' and runs the news commentary platform Cheek Media, had some thoughts on the pop star's announcement, which she shared with her 193,000 Instagram followers on Tuesday.
'YES I will be the first listener but imagine being one of the most successful women in the world and announcing your next huge career milestone on your boyfriend's sport podcast,' Ferguson wrote across an Instagram clip that showed her looking bemused.
Ferguson's comments section was quickly filled with followers who were confused by her stance.
'Why yuck someone's yum? This is an exhausting take,' one person commented, while another said, 'This is a strange take.'
'Imagine being bothered by this,' wrote someone else, with one more saying, 'This ain't it. Support women and whatever decision they make to better themselves.'
Others supported Ferguson's view, with one fan commenting, 'Hard agree. I get she wants to boost up his podcast but, I don't see why he has to be involved in such a huge announcement for her mammoth career.
'It's out of character for her to be on a podcast period, let alone announce a new album on there. Will listen regardless and love that she is happy but for us very long term Swifties we know this is a strange move.'

Costeen Hatzi opens up on public breakup with tennis firebrand Nick Kyrgios and what she regrets about their time together

Costeen Hatzi had to endure the pain of a breakup being played out in public, but she found her own strength and has now spoken out about her high profile split from Aussie tennis star Nick Kyrgios. Hatzi is an Australian influencer and interior design graduate known for her strong social media presence, with over 174K followers on Instagram alone. However it was her high-profile relationship with tennis star Nick Kyrgios that really put her in the spotlight for most Australians. Hatzi and Kyrgios began dating in late 2021, with the tennis star confirming their relationship on Instagram in December that year. She quickly became a constant figure courtside, supporting him through the 2022 Australian Open where his fiery on-court antics drew headlines. Their relationship was often in the spotlight, with Kyrgios publicly praising Hatzi while also facing criticism for his behaviour during matches. Hatzi was a constant courtside presence during the 2022 Australian Open as Kyrgios drew headlines for his fiery play In early 2023, rumours of tension surfaced, fuelled by Kyrgios's absence from tournaments due to injury and speculation about their future. By mid-2024, Hatzi confirmed their split. Now she has spoken about the public breakup, the pain, and the healing she has needed to do since they parted ways. And Hatzi has also revealed the lengths she went to in order to keep Kyrgios happy, and the regrets she has from their time together. 'I was fully supportive,' she told News Corp. 'I went to all the tournaments. I was doing everything behind the scenes – his washing, his cooking … everything. 'I was happy to, because I loved him and we had a great relationship at the time. So I don't regret anything that I've done.' Hatzi said she had used the last year to work on her own career out of Kyrgios' shadow, which she admitted was tough at times. 'It's different now. I have all this time for myself. I'm in a really reflective but motivated place. It has definitely been a bit of an adjustment, but I mentally prepared myself for that; it wasn't a shock,' she said. 'This year has been like a transition period. Of course there are days where, you know, I'm not a hundred per cent happy, but I feel like I've been headstrong, and I have a positive outlook on life. 'Going through a break-up isn't going to tear me down or upset me too much. I just need to look forward and throw myself into work, throw myself into fitness – and that's what I've been doing, really. 'I have a lot of time on my hands now so I'm trying to grow and expand my business,' she says. 'I've been leaning deeper into my career with fashion and beauty and content creation. 'It's a big focus for me – building a brand that's accessible and empowering, and style forward for women. 'That chapter of my life was meaningful and I'm grateful for the memories and the growth that came with it. You know, life changes. 'And so do people. I'm really just embracing this next chapter of rediscovery and independence and building something that's truly mine.' And Hatzi credited her family and friends for giving her the strength to carry on after the breakdown of the long-term relationship in the public eye. 'They've given me great advice to just focus on myself and be the classier person when it comes to the break-up,' she said. 'I've really taken that on board, because I don't want to ruin his name. Sometimes my emotions get the better of me, but then I remember that it's not in my nature to say anything bad about him. 'We still had a beautiful relationship, even though things didn't turn out the way [I'd hoped]. I've found peace within myself, and I hope he's happy. I don't wish bad upon him at all.'

Jared Goff opens up on 'crazy' Taylor Swift shoutout on viral New Heights episode that broke the internet

After he was name-dropped by Taylor Swift minutes into her highly anticipated appearance on New Heights, Jared Goff has broken his silence on the 'crazy' reaction he received to the shoutout. Swift used Goff in her analogy when describing her level of football knowledge when entering her first date with now-boyfriend Travis Kelce over two years ago. Kelce, who hosts New Heights with older brother Jason, were coming off of being competitors during the most recent Super Bowl when Swift began her romance with the tight end. Swift inquired on the date about Kelce's personal life and asked what it was like to compete in a Super Bowl against your brother five feet away from each other. She described it as Jared Goff and Josh Allen on the field at the same time. Of course, offenses do not play each other, with Swift realizing now how 'insane' her question was. It's safe to say she's learned a thing or two since about the Lions and Bills quarterbacks since beginning a relationship with one of the best tight ends of all-time. 'Yeah, pretty crazy, huh?' Goff said of the shoutout. 'Very cool I guess, it was a crazy couple hours last night for me and my phone.' 'It was a crazy couple of hours for me!' #Lions QB Jared Goff on being name dropped by Taylor Swift on last night's @newheightshow podcast. — Hobie Artigue (@HeyItsMeHobie) August 14, 2025 Swift's appearance on New Heights was so in demand that the channel's stream temporarily crashed on YouTube. During the episode, Swift briefly broke down in tears as she opened up on her long battle to reclaim her masters. She also lifted the lid on her whirlwind romance with Kelce, her father's recent heart surgery and her epic Eras Tour. And the NFL star quickly went viral after showering his girlfriend in compliments and affection. 'I'm the luckiest man in the world,' Kelce said repeatedly. The couple finished the episode with a kiss, after he was also seen holding and stroking Swift's hand and even kissing her head - much to the anger of some of the 1.3million fans who tuned in for the live stream. Travis also gushed over his girlfriend during the near-two-hour show on Wednesday night. 'I give the Eras Tour credit (for our relationship) because if I had never gone to that show and been mesmerized and captivated and left with such a desire to want to meet you, I would never have gone on here and told everyone how butt-hurt I was,' Kelce said. 'I have never been just so engulfed in the curiosity of who you were.' Goff was not mentioned again during the show. However, one mention shows the influence of Swift with the Lions star's phone ringing off the hook.
