Fury in Israel as trolls post AI images of 'anti-Semitic sharks' wearing Hamas bandanas after man was savagely attacked by beast off Hadera beach
Trolls have caused outrage in Israel by posting AI images of 'anti-Semitic sharks' wearing Hamas bandanas after a man was savagely attacked by a beast off Hadera yesterday.
Two of the AI-generated images show a shark wearing a green Hamas bandana or keffiyeh with the caption 'the warrior in the Abu-shark force', with trolls also dubbing the predator the 'al-Qassam shark' in reference to Hamas' al-Qassam brigade.
Some of the trolls sharing the pictures said it was 'the anti-Semitic shark' who was 'fight to total victory', Israeli outlet Ynet reports.
A third one is a fake picture of former IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari next to a shark, which was posted with the caption claiming Hagari threatened retaliation against the animal and announced that the incident resulted in only 'minor injuries'.
The posts have caused fury in Israel, with local media saying the savage shark attack on Monday was used to incite anti-Semitic hatred.
The married father, who is missing and feared dead, said he wanted to swim with sharks was savaged off Hadera's Olga Beach.
Horrifying footage shows the man flailing in the water during the bloody attack as it quickly turned red.
'I warned him not to go into the sea, and then I received the bitter news,' his friend told Ynet, adding that the married father had entered the water to swim with the sharks.

The man's haunting last words have been revealed by an eyewitness, who said he screamed: 'I'm bitten, I'm bitten,' as he waved his hands in the air.
'After a few minutes, sharks bit him - and suddenly he disappeared,' the beachgoer told Channel 12 News.
But the man, whos is missing and feared dead after the savage attack, wasn't the only one interested in getting close to the predators off Hadera.
Videos shared on social media show other beach-goers, including children, standing in the water and marvelling at the sharks as they swam around their legs just moments before the man was attacked.
Some holidaymakers coming to the area to see the sharks would even grab them by their tails and beat them with an oar, according to the chairwoman of the Israeli Shark Association.
The association said people actively approaching the predators was 'unreasonable behaviour'.
The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel has reacted to the shark attack by saying it called on the state four years ago to regulate behaviour in waters sharks visit.
It said: 'Every winter, a unique phenomenon occurs in Israel in which sharks and rays gather at the outlet of the warm waters of the power stations.
A man can be seen right next to a shark as it swims by in the shallow waters
'In the case of such a fascinating and public-attracting phenomenon, it would be appropriate to take conservation and safety measures for the public, but over the years, chaos has developed in the area.
'I started recording and saw they were sharks. They got within 164 to 328ft of the shoreline, which caused panic among swimmers.
'Still, some tried to approach them despite the lifeguard's clear orders to get out of the water. The sharks moved from south to north, did a sort of 'dance', and eventually disappeared.'
Shark attacks in the Mediterranean are extremely rare, with 50 recorded since 1900, and only 11 fatal.
The man's body has not yet been found, with divers continuing their search off Hadera's coast today. He is believed to have been attacked by at least three sharks, Ynet reports.
The Hadera Municipality Coastal Department said it was 'conducting searches by jet ski to locate the diver and will continue to update as developments occur'.
'We urge the public traveling in the area to avoid entering the water and contact with the sharks,' it added.
Police and rescue workers were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 3.02pm on Monday, with the police saying in a statement that no casualties had yet been located.
Israel Police said: 'A short time ago, officers from the Hadera Police Station and the Maritime Police were dispatched to the Hadera stream following reports from citizens who claimed they saw a shark attacking a diver in the water.
'Forces are en route, but no casualties have been located so far.'
Footage uploaded to social media has also shown helicopters scanning the waters for the missing diver.

Trump administration ends DHS program designed to thwart terror attacks
The Trump administration is planning to eliminate a Department of Homeland Security terrorism prevention program that former government officials and experts say has helped thwart attacks in the United States. The DHS budget submitted to Congress last month cancels the $18 million terrorism prevention grant program, saying it 'does not align with DHS priorities.' 'That line should be quoted after every future mass casualty event in this country,' said a current senior DHS official who declined to be named, citing fear of being fired. Former DHS officials say they believe the modest program, which costs about 4% of the military's marching band budget, has stopped violent attacks. It is designed to prevent a type of terrorism that has become increasingly common: lone-wolf attacks by individuals who are not members of an organized group. Examples include the recent firebomb attack in Boulder, Colorado, on demonstrators marching in support of Israeli hostages; the murder of a young couple outside the Capitol Jewish Museum; the killing of 14 people in a New Year's attack in New Orleans; and the shooting of a United Health Care executive in Manhattan. 'When people say, 'You can't prove prevention doesn't work,' I ask them, 'Do you go to the doctor? Do you have a smoke detector in your home?' Then you believe in prevention,' said Bill Braniff, a Biden administration appointee who oversaw the program as the director of DHS's Center for Prevention Partnerships and Programs. John Cohen, a former senior DHS counterterrorism official in the Obama and Biden administrations, said the threat is growing. 'Why was DHS created? To help the nation be better prepared to stop terrorist attacks following Sept. 11,' he said. 'We have had since January a number of school shootings and four terrorist incidents — all by people who fit those behavioral profiles.' The White House and DHS did not respond to requests for comment. The program, formally known as the Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Grant Program, recently drew scrutiny when ProPublica published an article about Braniff's successor, a 22-year-old former Trump campaign worker with no relevant experience. But the larger issue, experts say, is that the program is being zeroed out. They call that a short-sighted decision in an era when alienated loners are attempting mass violence attacks at a greater frequency than ever. 'Do I know for certain that we helped to avert school shootings and mass casualty attacks? I am 99% sure that we helped to avert a number of them,' said Braniff, who now heads the Polarization and Extremism Research and Innovation Lab at American University. Interest in and demand for the program is high and spans the country. In 2024, DHS reported receiving 178 eligible applications from 47 U.S. states and territories requesting $98.9 million for $18 million in available grants. The money funds state and local programs designed to help identify people who are radicalizing and potentially violent. They included school-based threat assessment teams, mental health teams and programs designed to inoculate children against extremist messages on social media. Specific examples are difficult to cite, in part because many cases are confidential, and in part because it's difficult to draw a straight line between a government program and a thwarted attack. But DHS documents cite a 2022 case as an example of how they believe the program helped stop a school shooting. After an outreach campaign at Palm Beach State College in Florida urging students to be vigilant about online threats of violence, a student anonymously reported to authorities about online posts threatening a mass shooting. Among the posts, according to court records, were threats to commit a 'massacre,' and an inquiry, 'who's selling an AR-15?' Authorities arrested and charged a young man, who ultimately was sentenced to probation and also was the subject of a risk protection order, records show. 'This is not the time to be ending that office,' said Cohen, the former senior DHS counterterrorism official. 'This is the time to be expanding activities that are designed to detect emerging threats."

Police attacked with fireworks on second night of violence in Northern Ireland
Police were attacked with fireworks during a second night of anti-migrant riots in Northern Ireland following the attempted rape of a teenage girl. Crowds of masked rioters launched fireworks at riot police in Ballymena, County Antrim, on Tuesday night. The disorder came a day after two 14-year-old boys, thought to be Romanian, appeared in court charged with the attempted rape of a girl. Fireworks and other projectiles were launched at police officers and their armoured land rovers as about 300 people gathered in the vicinity of Clonavon Terrace, in the town centre. A large fire was started by rioters shortly after 9pm in the middle of North Road, an A-road which overlooks the area. A water cannon and rubber bullets have been used against the rioters to contain the 'serious disorder'. The unrest has been condemned as 'racist thuggery' by police. Assistant Chief Constable Ryan Henderson said the violence was 'clearly racially motivated and targeted at our minority ethnic community and police'. A 29-year-old man has been charged with riotous behaviour following the disorder and will appear before Ballymena magistrates' court on Thursday. The victim's family condemned the riots, which were reminiscent of the disorder in England and Northern Ireland after the murder of three girls at a dance class in Southport last year. The Prime Minister's official spokesman said 'there is no justification for attacks on police officers while they continue to protect local communities'. Jim Allister, the North Antrim MP, said Ballymena had been 'overburdened' by 'unchecked migration', which was a source of 'past and future tensions'. On Monday, masked rioters threw petrol bombs, masonry, fireworks, and bricks at police after splitting from a peaceful vigil and setting up barricades in the Clonavon Terrace area of the town. Several officers needed hospital treatment and two police vehicles were damaged. Along Clonavon Terrace, six houses had their windows smashed, with two of them taped off after suffering significant fire damage. Those attacks are being treated as racially motivated hate crimes. In one video, one woman was recorded saying: 'If they are not local, let them f---ing stay there.'
