Driver in viral video arrested for running over motorcyclist

SHAH ALAM: Police have arrested a driver for deliberately running over a motorcyclist following an altercation in Taman Sentosa, Klang, yesterday.
South Klang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ramli Kasa said police received a report from a member of the public at 10.20pm informing them of a fight between a car driver and a motorcyclist.
He said investigations found that the incident occurred around 10pm when the motorcyclist, a 50-year-old local man, was avoiding uneven surfaces on the road.
"This then caused the suspect, a 37-year-old local man, to believe that the victim was riding recklessly and could cause an accident.
"The suspect then honked to reprimand the victim. Dissatisfied, the victim chased after the suspect's car, leading to an altercation between them.
"During the altercation, the victim struck the suspect's front windscreen with a helmet, causing it to crack. The suspect then proceeded to ram into the victim, under the vehicle," he said in a statement today.
Ramli said after the suspect fled the scene, the victim sought treatment at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, was confirmed to have suffered injuries to both legs, shoulders and a dislocated left shoulder joint.
The victim is currently still receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Ramli said police opened an investigation paper under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
"The suspect was detained around 1.15am today, and checks revealed he has a criminal record with four past cases.
"The suspect has been remanded for four days until April 30, and the investigating officer is in the process of completing the investigation before referring the case to the deputy public prosecutor in the near future," he said.
Earlier, a video went viral on social media showing a man being hit and run over by a car. However, after the incident, he was seen getting up and moving to the side of the road.
