Man, 24, faces nearly 20 charges after 2 armed home invasions hours apart: OPP
A 24-year-old man faces nearly 20 charges following a police investigation into two home invasions that happened within hours on the same street in the Town of Mono.
Dufferin OPP says the first incident happened Friday around 9 p.m. when a suspect forced entry into a home on Shady Glen Lane and demanded valuables from the occupant. Police say shots were fired, but when officers arrived, the suspect had taken off.
Around three hours later, officers responded to a report of a break-in at another home on Shady Glen Lane. Police say a struggle broke out between the suspect and the occupant and gunshots reportedly rang out.
Officers arrived and took one person into custody. The accused faces a slew of charges, including careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault causing bodily harm, and two counts of assaulting a peace officer. He is also charged with several other weapons and court-related offences.
It's unclear if any injuries were sustained in either incident.
