Car plows into crowd of soccer fans in Liverpool, leaving some injured
A car has plowed into a crowd of football fans in Liverpool, central Britain, when they took to the streets to celebrate Liverpool Football Club for winning the England Premier League championship.
There were crowds of people who gathered to see the victory parade of Liverpool FC, which won the title for the first time in five seasons.
The car collided with the crowd at around 6 p.m. on Monday, local time.
Emergency services say a multiple number of people have been treated. But the number of the injured and the severity of their injuries are unknown.
Police detained a 53-year-old local man at the scene, and are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
Local media say the collision happened when roads were reopened after a bus carrying footballers and coaches had passed.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer wrote on social media, "The scenes in Liverpool are appalling -- my thoughts are with all those injured or affected."
Liverpool FC says in a statement, "Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident."

Hajime Moriyasu has already led Japan to qualification for next year's World Cup finals but there was no disguising his frustration at his understrength side losing 1-0 to Australia in Perth on Thursday. Maybe, a lack of experience cost us," Moriyasu said "I wanted to see what (inexperienced) players could do in a high-pressure environment. We have to improve and expand our squad." Japan rounds out its qualifying campaign against Indonesia in Suita on Tuesday and Moriyasu said his team would be aiming to get back to winning ways. "We wanted to continue our unbeaten run, but it's too late for that now," Moriyasu said. "We'll ready ourselves the best we can to round things off with a win."

Spain beats France 5-4 in thriller to reach Nations League final
Spain's teenage sensation Lamine Yamal inspired his country to a thrilling 5-4 win over France on Thursday to send the holders through to their third successive Nations League final where they will face Iberian neighbours Portugal. The European champions dazzled in the first half of the semifinal at the MHP Arena and raced into a 2-0 lead with fine goals by Nico Williams and Mikel Merino inside 25 minutes. Spain's 17-year-old starlet Yamal then got in on the act to coolly add a third from the penalty spot nine minutes into the second half before his Barcelona teammate Pedri clipped a sublime fourth into the net less than a minute later. The goals continued to flow as France striker Kylian Mbappe also slotted home from the penalty spot near the hour mark before Yamal added Spain's fifth after 67 minutes to cap an exhilarating individual performance. France then mounted an extraordinary comeback as a stunning strike from Rayan Cherki, Dani Vivian's own goal and a Randal Kolo Muani finish caused Spain some late jitters.
