Caste-wise census, success of BSP ideology, claims Maha gen-secy
Pune, May 4 (UNI) The decision taken by the central government to conduct a caste-wise census in the country is a victory of the ideology, demand and struggle of the Bahujan Samaj Party, claimed the party's state general secretary and West Maharashtra zone in-charge Dr Hulgesh Chalwadi here on Sunday.
He alleged that the Bahujan society is still being exploited, suffered and deprived due to anti-Bahujan policy of the Congress and BJP and claimed that there is a competition between BJP-Congress to take credit for the decision of the caste-wise census.
Dr Chalwadi said that it is because of the struggle of BSP, which is based on the ideas of the party's founder Kanshi Ram ji, who first gave the slogan 'The greater the number, the greater the share', that a caste-wise census will be conducted for the first time in the country after independence.
Basically, the origin of this demand is of BSP, he claimed and said if the policy of the Congress-BJP and other parties towards Bahujans had been pure, the OBC community would have become a big partner in development of the country, he said.
He further said that due to continuous struggle of the great man Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and the BSP, the OBC community has become very aware today. Due to this, these parties, which have set their eyes on the votes of OBCs like Dalits, are pretending to be acting for benefit of Bahujans, he charged.
Dr Chalwadi said that interests of Dalits, tribals, OBCs and the entire community are included in the BSP.
While taking credit for the Centre's decision to conduct the first caste-based census in the country after 1931 and independence, he alleged that the Congress, which was ousted from power due to the 'black chapter' of depriving crores of Dalit-OBC citizens of their constitutional rights including reservation, had forgotten them.

HP court orders attachment of govt property in over 27-yr-old land compensation case
Shimla, June 12 (UNI) Highlighting prolonged government inaction, the district judge (forest) Ajay Mehta has directed the attachment of key government properties, including the PWD rest house at Tara Devi, two official vehicles from the PWD headquarters, furniture, computers, and heaters, over non-payment of land compensation to farmers for the past 27 years. The case pertains to land acquired in 1998 by the Public Works Department (PWD) Rohru division for the construction of the Baidhar-Thana-Tikkar road. Approximately 15 bighas were acquired, including apple orchards, and the land acquisition officer had initially assessed compensation at Rs. 6,252 per apple plant. Unsatisfied with the award, landowners from Tikka -- Diwan Chand, Bhajan Das, Inder Singh, Narain Chand, Bahadur Singh, Nihal Chand, Jagdish, Mohan Chand, Jai Krishan, and Rameshwar -- moved court in 2012. In 2017, the additional district and sessions judge ordered an enhanced compensation of Rs 26,575 per plant. However, the state failed to implement the order or deposit Rs 2.5 crore compensation, prompting the petitioners to file an execution petition in 2020. The court noted that despite three prior orders to attach government property, no action was taken to disburse the compensation. It further observed that both the secretary (PWD secretariat) and the Land Acquisition Officer (Winter Field, Shimla) failed to cooperate with court proceedings. While the state government has now sought an additional four months to deposit the dues, the next hearing has been scheduled for June 18. The court has made it clear that the attachment orders will remain in force until then. In a related matter, a single bench of Justice Ajay Mohan Goel of the Himachal Pradesh High Court recently ordered the attachment of Himachal Bhavan and 18 properties of HPTDC over unpaid arbitration awards and pending dues of retired employees, reflecting a broader trend of judicial strictness over financial defaults by the state. Notably, this hefty $5 million investment will not guarantee citizenship in the US. While speaking to reporters in February, Trump clarified that he does not need approval from Congress to issue a gold card since it will not guarantee citizenship; nevertheless, it is a 'strong path for citizenship'. However, Trump did not provide details regarding how the gold card will be a path to citizenship. One of the common ways to secure US citizenship currently is through naturalisation, which requires being a lawful permanent resident for at least five years. The applicant must be at least 18 years old, able to read, write and speak basic English according to their age group, and be of 'good moral character'. Free sand to beneficiaries to build Indiramma homes: Telangana housing minister
HYDERABAD : The Congress govt will supply sand free of cost for construction of Indiramma houses to the scheme beneficiaries, revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced at a programme in Mulugu district where he distributed approval letters of Indiramma houses. Ponguleti directed all the collectors to ensure that sand stockpiles are kept ready and supplied free of cost to beneficiaries. Sources said the govt was also in talks with steel and cement companies for supplying them at a subsidised rate. He said that if beneficiaries begin construction within the next 10–15 days, funds will be released to them every Monday. Forest officials will be instructed to allow people living in makeshift homes within forest areas to construct Indiramma houses at the same locations, he said. Over 9,800 Chenchus were sanctioned Indiramma houses, which, he said, was a historic decision of the Congress govt. "In addition to 3,500 Indiramma houses for Mulugu constituency at the rate of 3,500 for each of the 119 assembly constituencies in the state, an additional 1,500 units were sanctioned in the Integrated Tribal Development Agency limits," he said. Responding to minister D Anasuya Seethakka's request, Ponguleti sanctioned another 1,000 Indiramma houses to the Mulugu and ITDA areas in the constituency. Stating that the incumbent 'Indiramma govt' was synonymous with Indiramma housing, Ponguleti said 25.5 lakh such houses were sanctioned to the poor by the previous Congress govt of the combined AP state in the Telangana region alone. "After the formation of Telangana state, the previous BRS govt, which held power for two terms, sanctioned only 92,000 houses and completed 60,000 of them. Nearly 30,000 houses were left incomplete with only walls standing. The contractors were not paid for their work by the previous regime," he alleged. The minister said there were at least 60 eligible beneficiaries in every village, but currently only about 30 houses per village can be sanctioned. However, he assured that all eligible families will be provided houses in a phased manner in future. "The target of the Congress govt is to construct 20 lakh Indiramma houses with a budget of Rs 22,500 crore over the next four years," Ponguleti said and appealed to the people to observe the welfare schemes being implemented by the Congress govt and support it in the upcoming local body elections. On the issue of Bhu Bharathi (land records), Ponguleti pointed out that during the previous govt farmers had to run from pillar to post for resolution of land issues. Now, revenue officials were proactively reaching out to the people to resolve their problems, he said.
