Hyd -bound Lufthansa flight diverted over bomb threat
London/Hyderabad: A Hyderabad-bound Lufthansa flight made a U-turn and landed back at Frankfurt airport late on Sunday due to a bomb threat, said sources. The bomb threat was received about two hours after Flight LH752 took off from Germany at 2.14 pm local time on Sunday. It was scheduled to land at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday. However, the passengers were told that the flight was not given 'permission to land' in India.
Flight LH752 departed from Germany around 14.14 local time on Sunday and was scheduled to land at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday but flight tracker data showed a diversion a few hours into the flight.
A passenger on board the flight said from Frankfurt Airport that they were being provided overnight accommodation as their flight was rescheduled for Monday morning.
'We just landed back in Frankfurt around 15 minutes ago and all we were told is that Hyderabad hasn't given permission to land the flight there,' said the female passenger en route from the US to visit her mother in Hyderabad.
'It was a smooth flight and after about two hours in the air, we were told that we would be returning to Frankfurt. Now at the airport, they are providing us accommodation for the night and have told us that we will fly out later by the same flight,' she said.
There was no immediate comments from authorities in Hyderabad.
While Lufthansa has been approached for further updates and reasons behind the aborted flight, a Frankfurt Airport spokesperson confirmed that LH752 had landed back in Germany.
'We can confirm that there was a return to Frankfurt Airport. For further information, please contact the Federal Police or the airline,' the spokesperson said.
Lufthansa's live flight tracker on its website showed LH752 landed back at Frankfurt around 1730 local time.
According to the website, the aircraft is a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
Earlier tracker data for the flight showing it was en route to Hyderabad was updated just before the updated landing information for Frankfurt.
The flight tracker website flightaware.com also reflected similar information, though the exact reasons behind the diversion remain unestablished.
Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport received a message that the flight was
returning to Frankfurt a short while after it had taken off from the German hub airport.

Lufthansa flight diversion due to 'bomb threat' upsets travel plans of Hyderabad-bound passengers
A 20-hour layover at the Frankfurt airport has disrupted the onward travel plans of most passengers after their Hyderabad-bound Lufthansa flight was denied permission to land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. The flight LH752 departed Frankfurt at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday (June 15) and was originally expected to land in Hyderabad at 6:00 a.m. on Monday (June 16). However, the non-stop flight was diverted back to its origin airport due to a 'bomb threat'. 'After three hours of journey (on Saturday) the passengers were informed that the flight had no permission to land at Hyderabad Airport and hence the aircraft was going back to Frankfurt. All our onward journey plans were upset. I have to go see my parents who are very old,' Madhvi Latha, a passenger on the flight, told PTI videos. She said she had to go further to Guntakal in Andhra Pradesh. Another passenger, Venu, who was travelling from San Francisco, expressed shock over the turnaround and said his flight was airborne for nearly four hours before it returned. His onward journey resumed only around 10 a.m. the next day, significantly delaying his arrival in Hyderabad. 'They told us that the flight is going to return. We didn't understand. It was a shock for us that the flight was coming back. It was a shock when they told us that the flight was going to return. We did not understand what was happening,' Mr. Venu said, expressing relief that all passengers were safe. The disruption caused even longer delays for some passengers. Arogyam Chowdhury, who originally had flown from Canada, experienced the longest delay in the group with his layover in Frankfurt lasting nearly 72 hours. Another passenger Anay, a school boy, recalled watching inflight TV when the announcement was made that the plane was returning to Frankfurt. According to Hyderabad Airport sources, a bomb threat email targeting Lufthansa flight LH 752 was received at the Hyderabad airport at 18:01 hrs on June 15. They said a bomb threat assessment committee was formed and all procedures were followed as per standard operating procedure. In the interest of safety, the airline was advised to divert back to the origin or the nearest suitable airport. Flight LH 752 — operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft — departed from Frankfurt at 14.29 hours instead of its scheduled departure time of 13.05 hours, as per flight tracking website

Goa-Lucknow IndiGo flight faced mid-air turbulence, landed safely: Airline
A Lucknow-bound IndiGo flight from Goa experienced mid-air turbulence on Monday due to adverse weather conditions but the crew navigated the aircraft safely, the airline said in a statement on Tuesday. The flight 6E 6811 landed safely in Lucknow, the airline said without divulging further details. "IndiGo flight 6E 6811 from North Goa to Lucknow on June 16, experienced turbulence momentarily due to prevailing active monsoon weather conditions in western India," the airline said. It further said its pilots and cabin crew, trained to handle such situations, followed "established protocols" to ensure customer safety. Last month, a Srinagar-bound IndiGo flight from Delhi with 227 passengers, including a delegation of TMC MPs, on board encountered sudden hailstorm, prompting the pilot to report the "emergency" to air traffic control at Srinagar. All passengers deplaned safely but the nose of the aircraft was damaged.
