James Comey praises Taylor Swift, unloads on Donald Trump in vlog

Yahooa day ago
James Comey is sure to get under Donald Trump's skin once again — this time for extolling the virtues of Taylor Swift.
The former FBI director, who was fired during the polarizing president's first term, has revealed himself to be a superfan of the pop superstar his political foe 'hates' the most.
A new video posted to the Substack platform on Sunday shows Comey referring to Swift as 'a truly inspirational public figure' and noting her recent stream-crashing appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce's podcast 'New Heights.'
'Taylor Swift and I go way back,' the 64-year-old grandfather shared in the clip. 'I went to my first concert of hers 15 years ago. I've been to a second, and I have helped financially support the attendance of a lot of family members and others.'
He continued: 'I'm in a family Swiftie group chat. I know all her music, and I listen to it in my headphones when I cut the grass.'
Comey also shared that the 10-minute version of Swift's 'All Too Well' is among his favorites, which also include 'Exile' featuring Bon Iver. He said the 14-time Grammy Award winner has produced 'great art' that has been the soundtrack of his family's life.
He then went on to talk about standing up to bullies and mentioned Gavin Newsom's back and forth with the 79-year-old MAGA leader.
'I've got to be honest, it also leaves me with a strange feeling at times because I don't want us to become like Trump and his followers,' Comey said about the California Governor's recent mockery of the former 'Apprentice' star's social media habits.
He added: 'There are far more decent, honest, kind people in America than there are mean jerks, and don't get me wrong, we have our jerks, millions of them. You may have noticed! In particular, there's a stunning coarseness and ugliness in the Republican Party today. It's upsetting, but it's also a minority of America. On the whole, we aren't like that and we don't like that.'
Comey wasn't finished tearing into Trump, who has taken credit for what he believes to be the demise of the 35-year-old's popularity since expressing his hatred for her on social media.
'While our elderly, makeup-covered president is posting about whether Taylor Swift is still 'hot' and declaring that he can't stand her, what's she doing? Living her best life, producing great music, and, as she urged all of us to do during the podcast, not giving the jerks power over her mind.'

ESPN NFL Analyst Taking Heat For Joke About Jesus' Resurrection

ESPN NFL Analyst Taking Heat For Joke About Jesus' Resurrection originally appeared on The Spun. ESPN NFL analyst Ryan Clark can be pretty polarizing at times. But a recent joke he made about Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco seems to have been over the line for some fans. During a recent segment on ESPN, Clark spoke about the Browns' recent decision to name Flacco the starter for the 2025 NFL season. Clark started gushing about how Flacco has managed to continuously get work in the NFL despite having semi-retired several years ago. He then declared that Flacco's return to the NFL is "the greatest resurrection since Jesus Christ," which as you might imagine didn't sit well with some. "I'm gonna tell you what, man," Clark said. "Joe Flacco must have the faith of a mustard seed, right? Because this is the greatest resurrection since Jesus the Christ. Like, at some point, Joe Flacco was thinking about getting into TV, right? Joe Flacco didn't have a job. And then, now, you not only coming back and starting for the Cleveland Browns late in the 2023 season, but they came back around to you and you're now the day one starter for a franchise that just two years ago was in the playoffs." The reaction has been pretty nasty Fans were already pretty exhausted of Clark's hyperbolic analysis and were even less amused when he decided to compare an NFL quarterback to the legendary Christian figure. So after seeing that quote on their social media feeds, fans quickly made it clear how much they absolutely despised Clark: "Ryan Clark is literally the worst sports commentator of all time," one user said bluntly. "I think im honestly fine with never seeing Ryan Clark again," wrote another. "Ryan Clark is exactly why ESPN has been unwatchable for years. The dude is absolutely terrible," a third remarked. "Ryan Clark says he's a Christian and says something like that. Seriously. Comparing a guy who was pretty much named the starter before the pre season ever started is hardly a surprise. Ryan Clark is a terrible Stephen A Smith Wanabe." "Ryan Clark does not understand the parable of a mustard seed." "Does this show have a contest every day for who can say the dumbest (expletive) possible. Think so." Nothing new Ryan Clark has made a habit out of saying something ridiculous and then making it something about himself or his own beliefs. Perhaps the biggest example was his recent beef with Robert Griffin III, which is an entirely different can of worms not worth opening today. Suffice it to say, Clark's gift of gab may be wildly entertaining to the ESPN cast and crew, but it has a very different reaction from the audience they're trying to appeal to. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore's press secretary leaves for campaign role

BALTIMORE — Maryland Gov. Wes Moore's press secretary left his state government role on Tuesday, moving to a senior advisory role on the governor's reelection campaign. Carter Elliott IV, who served as senior press secretary since Moore took office in January 2023, announced his departure in an email Tuesday. 'As my last day in the Governor's Office comes to a close, I just want to reach out to say it was the greatest pleasure of my life to serve in this role and I'm grateful to have gotten to know some incredible people,' Elliott said in the email. 'I grew up in a family where the best career that you could follow was being a farmer, a teacher, or a public servant — this had been my dream for as long as I can remember.' The Baltimore Sun reached out to Elliott for further details about his new role on Moore's campaign. In an email to the governor's staff, obtained by The Sun, Elliott thanked his colleagues for 'making Maryland a home.' He lived in Baltimore before moving to Annapolis this year. Elliott expressed gratitude for his work in the governor's office, which this year included a tumultuous legislative session in which lawmakers increased taxes and cut spending to close a $3.3 billion deficit. He described Moore as 'the best governor in the country' and said 'to work for someone that inspires you is something special.' A native of Virginia, Elliott was previously communications manager for Moore's 2022 gubernatorial campaign, according to his LinkedIn page. He earned an annual salary of $104,000 as Moore's press secretary, according to government data. -------------
