Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot has named Indian cricketer Nitish Kumar Reddy as its newest friend of the brand, marking a continued engagement with the sport. The partnership aligns with Hublot's 'Art of Fusion' philosophy, blending tradition with innovation across both watchmaking and sport.
Nitish Kumar Reddy, known for his all-round performance on the cricket field, joins Hublot's global network of ambassadors, following previous associations with global players and its ongoing partnership with the International Cricket Council since 2019, Hublot announced in a press release. The brand noted that Reddy's discipline and versatility in both batting and bowling reflect Hublot's values of precision, creativity, and commitment to excellence.
'We are thrilled to welcome Nitish Kumar Reddy to the Hublot family," said Hublot's managing director for the Middle East, Africa, India and Latin America David Tedeschi in a press release. "Nitish's exceptional talent and dedication truly embody the spirit of India's rising generation. We believe his passion and drive will resonate deeply with Hublot's values as we further strengthen our presence in this dynamic and vibrant country."
The collaboration will feature a series of curated events merging luxury timepieces with cricket culture. 'I feel truly honoured to be a part of Hublot family as Friend of the Brand," said Reddy. "I will always cherish these values through a Hublot watch wrapped around my wrist.'

Indian airline IndiGo orders 30 Airbus A350 widebody planes

"We are placing a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900s," said Pieter Elbers, the CEO of IndiGo, a company founded in 2006 and already behind the largest contract by volume in the history of civil aviation -- 500 Airbus single-aisle aircraft by 2023. The Indian low-cost carrier, the country's biggest by market share, is positioning itself as a significant player in the long-haul market. "This strategic move will enable IndiGo to spread its wings further and expand its long-haul international network", the company said in a statement. "This is yet another step in defining the airline's long-term plans of international expansion". The A350 planes, with ranges of up to 15,000 kilometres (9,300 miles), will allow it to further expand its network. Overall, IndiGo has placed orders for around 1,000 aircraft from the A320 family, Airbus's most successful model and rival of the Boeing 737 MAX, which has endured multiple setbacks after a series of safety scares. Willie Walsh, director general of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which began its annual industry conference in New Delhi on Sunday, said "the development of India's air connectivity in recent years has been nothing short of phenomenal". Indian domestic air growth is "running at over 10 percent" per year, Walsh said, ahead of the conference. The growth of its economy has made India and its 1.4 billion people the world's fourth-largest air market -- domestic and international -- with IATA projecting it will become the third biggest within the decade. Last year, India's domestic air passenger traffic reached a "historic milestone, surpassing 500,000 passengers in a single day", according to India's Ministry of Civil Aviation. The ministry boasts of a sector "experiencing a meteoric rise". Railways remain hugely popular but travelling by trains crisscrossing a country about three-quarters the area of the European Union is often slow and chaotic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is slated to address IATA delegates on Monday, has made the development of the air sector a priority since coming to power in 2014. India has doubled its number of airports in the past decade to 157, with plans to have as many as 400 by 2047.

UK and US buyers snap up used Rolex and Patek Philippe ahead of tariffs

Watch enthusiasts snapped up used Rolex SA and Patek Philippe SA timepieces at the end of April, splashing out before possible tariffs from U.S. President Donald Trump. Watch dealer and trading platform Subdial typically records a surge in activity after customers receive their end-of-month paychecks. In April, post-payday trading volume jumped 160% above normal levels—well beyond the 112% average increase seen on previous paydays over the past year. The volume growth was particularly strong in the U.S. and UK, Christy Davis, founder of London-based Subdial, said in an interview. 'People heard about the tariffs and went, 'Oh shoot, let's buy now,'' Davis said. 'They waited for payday and then sales volumes just went through the roof.' The phenomenon echoed another trend seen in Switzerland, where watch exports jumped by nearly a fifth in April — with shipments to the U.S. more than doubling ahead of expanded tariffs threatened by Trump. Watches made from precious metals, steel and bimetallic materials — products also targeted by Trump — saw the most growth, according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry. The U.S. jump was likely a one-off response by exporters seeking to avoid higher tariffs, rather than a structural increase in demand, Jean-Philippe Bertschy, an analyst at Vontobel, said in a note. Swiss watch exports fell 6.4% to the rest of the world in the month, continuing a weak start to the year. The secondary watch market has rebounded gradually since February's post-pandemic lows. Since reaching that nadir, the Bloomberg Subdial Watch Index has risen about 5.3% through late May, returning to levels last seen in October. It remains far from the levels it reached three years ago, when prices of used luxury watches surged as Covid lockdowns ended.
