New Delhi, Aug 5 (PTI) A Delhi court has sentenced a man to rigorous imprisonment of 20 years for raping a 12-year-old girl in 2020, saying he did not deserve any leniency.
Additional sessions judge Aditi Garg observed children were a 'supremely important national asset" and the future well being of the nation was contingent upon their growth and development.
The court was hearing the arguments on sentencing against the accused who was convicted for rape under IPC and Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act.
Observing he did not deserve any leniency, the court on July 30 sentenced the 24-year-old man a 20-year a rigorous imprisonment under Section 6 of the POCSO Act.

ED files prosecution complaint in interstate investment fraud case

Panaji: The enforcement directorate (ED), Goa, has filed a prosecution complaint against Krishan Kumar alias Vijay Kumar Jaiswal alias Vijay Kishan Jaiswal, his wife Rashmi alias Rashmi Jaiswal, and three companies promoted by them, in connection with an alleged inter-state investment fraud. The ED filed the prosecution complaint before the special court (Prevention of Money Laundering Act or PMLA), North Goa. The prosecution complaint was filed for the commission of the offence of money laundering as defined under the act. The ED stated that the accused are the directors of the companies. The case arises from multiple FIRs registered by law enforcement agencies against Krishan and others in Goa, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh for offences under various sections of the IPC, the Goa Protection of Interests of Depositors (In Financial Establishments) Act, 1999, and the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978. The ED investigation revealed that the accused, acting in conspiracy, incorporated three companies, namely Yudivo Marketing Private Limited, Yudivo Lifecare Private Limited, and Yudivo Property and Profits Private Limited, and floated fraudulent multi-level marketing schemes under the guise of direct selling and investment plans. 'The accused projected the proceeds of crime as untainted by routing funds through multiple bank accounts of themselves as well as the companies owned and controlled by them and using them in sham business activities,' the ED said. Earlier, the ED attached an immovable property pertaining to the accused persons valued at Rs 72 Lakh, located at Gulshan Ikebana, Sector 143, Noida, under the provisions of the PMLA. This attachment was confirmed by the adjudicating authority under the PMLA.

In Dungarpur, a 33-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for the rape and brutal murder of his 6-year-old cousin. Meanwhile, in Dausa's Bandikui, police are on the hunt for a suspect in the rape of a 7-year-old girl with disabilities. In Dungarpur, the young victim's body was discovered in bushes near a pond after a four-hour search by her family. The accused, who confessed to the crime, cited a family feud as his motive. The incident unfolded in the Nithauwa police station area. The girl's mother had dropped her at school on Monday morning, only to find her missing upon returning home. After learning that school had dismissed early, the family launched a frantic search, culminating in the discovery of the girl's body at 4pm, her school bag was still on her back, and in a bloody state. Police, acting on the mother's suspicions, registered a case of rape and murder under the POCSO Act . The victim's father, who works in Mumbai, was informed and returned home late Monday night. In Bandikui, meanwhile, police have launched a search for an unknown suspect in the rape of a 7-year-old girl with severe disabilities. The child, unable to hear or speak, was found in pain and bleeding near her home on Sunday after being missing for five hours. SHO Sachin Sharma reported that the family brought her to Bandikui hospital for a medical examination. The father stated she disappeared around 2pm and was found distressed near their home at 7pm. A case was registered against an unknown assailant. The investigation faces challenges due to the victim's disabilities, which prevent her from providing a statement. Authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrator of this appalling crime.
