Chief Secretary Eric Chan said on Sunday the SAR will tell the world a good Hong Kong story by co-hosting the National Games this year, as well as other major sporting events.
He was speaking at a carnival hosted by clansmen associations at Victoria Park.
Chan said carnival organisers have set up an interactive stall, encouraging people to exercise more and promoting the major sporting event in November.
"The National Games will be co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, further deepening the cooperation and exchanges in different areas among cities in the Greater Bay area," the minister said in a speech.
"I'm sure all clansmen organisations will actively take part. The SAR government will work with them to call on more clansmen to support the National Games in various ways."
Chan also hailed clansmen groups for promoting patriotism, noting the administration has been supporting their development through the years.
"We've sponsored them to engage in various types of culture promotion activities through the Clansmen Culture Promotion Scheme since 2023," he said.
"These include hosting hometown markets, school activities, and mainland tours, allowing people of all ages to join. The scheme has achieved great results.
"It allows people to learn more about hometown culture, fostering the spirit of loving the country, Hong Kong and the hometowns."
Chan went on to say he expects clansmen associations to continue working with the government and contribute to Hong Kong's development.

Star shuttlers Tang, Tse win silver at Singapore Open Jordan Tang and Tse Ying-suet (R) were outperformed by their Thai opponents in the final. Photo: AFP The SAR's star badminton duo of Jordan Tang and Tse Ying-suet won silver in mixed doubles at the Singapore Open on Sunday. The Hong Kong, China pair were defeated 16-21, 5-21 by Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran from Thailand. Seeded second in the tournament, Tang and Tse were outplayed by the younger, more lively Thai pair, who came in as the sixth seed in the competition. Despite defeat, it was the second final Tang and Tse made in four appearances, since Tse returned to the court following a surgery. They had won their maiden Asian title in Ningbo in April, in what was their first tournament back together. The star pair will be back in action on Tuesday, when they play in the Indonesia Open alongside fellow SAR shuttlers Angus Ng and Lee Cheuk-yiu in men's singles, as well as the women's doubles pair of Lianne Yeung and Yeung Pui-lam.
