
Coles shoppers lose their minds after spotting popular item finally back on shelves for $2: 'I started crying'
Shoppers are flocking to supermarkets to stock up on the much-loved Hass avocados after a less popular season of the Shepard variety.
Coles and Woolworths have delighted fans with the return of the fan favourite Hass avocados, which are now back in season from May through to January.
During its absence, the controversial green-skinned Shepard variety takes over the fruit and vegetable aisles between February and April.
After a long three-month wait, avocado fans are thrilled to see the ever-popular Hass back on shelves.
'I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Hass at Coles - I thought I was dreaming. It's been a painful couple of months without them,' a shopper told FEMAIL.
'I can't stand Shepard avocados. No matter how long I wait for them to ripen, they never taste as creamy or delicious as Hass. I've been avoiding buying avocados for the past three months... Until now.'
Dozens of fans have expressed their excitement over the return of the Hass variety.
'Almost shed a tear finding Hass avocados at Woolies today... There's light at the end of the tunnel. It is a weekend for miracles,' one said.
'The way I just started crying,' another shared.
'This has relieved my Shepard depression,' one revealed.
'Yay! I have missed avocados,' another added.
Many joked the 'war is over' while another pointed out: 'It's a good day to be in Australia' after spotting Hass at their local supermarket.
'Goodbye Shepard avocados and hello Hass I say,' one said.
'About time... I was sick of crunchy avocado,' another shared.
However, some were sympathetic towards Shephard, with one saying: 'I feel bad for Shepard avocados… it's not their fault they are inferior to the Hass avos.'
Every year, Australians vent their frustration at Shepard avocados, which are notoriously hard to tell when ripe.
'I had a bag of Shepherd avocados sitting on my counter for 15 days and they never ripened. Hard as a rock,' one said.
'In the history of the world has a Shepard avocado ever ripened because I've never seen one ripe,' another claimed.
'Shepard avocados are so much harder to get nice and ripe. I left one out for four days and when I opened it, it wasn't ripe enough and tasted like plastic,' one said.
'I wouldn't even call Shepherds a real Avocado - it has the consistency of a candle. Hass all the way,' another added.
Shepard always stays green, even when ripe, while Hass changes colour as it ripens - going from a green to purple black.
Hass has a creamy texture and taste while Shepard, which is less prone to bruising, has a nutty flavour and butter texture.
Keeping avocados in a fruit bowl or brown paper bag with bananas can help speed up the ripening process.

A leading psychologist has warned against the trauma of daily 'micro stresses' such as being stuck in traffic that have detrimental effects on your health. Dr. Becky Spelman, UK licensed psychologist, explained to Femail that human brains 'aren't wired for constant low-level friction' such as losing your keys and being in a rush. 'Repeated minor stressors can lead to the same physiological and emotional exhaustion as a single major stressor,' she explained. Indeed, Brits endure microstresses an average of eight times a day, increasing their blood pressure for as long as two hours daily, a new study from beverage company, Trip has found. Around 90 per cent of Brits experience these stressors - which include having an untidy house or not being able to find a parking space. 'When the small stresses pile up with no opportunity to decompress, they create an emotional static that affects concentration, patience, and even physical health,'Dr Spelman said. Dr Spelman suggested people 'incorporate small, daily rituals that restore calm', adding that overall management of stress should also focus on 'staying steady' during brief moments of strain. Microstresses are defined as small daily annoyances that, though seemingly small at the time, can weigh heavy on overall wellbeing when experienced in culmination. Among those counted as microstresses are seemingly minute aggravations such being being stuck in traffic, having an untidy house, or losing the remote control. Of the survey's 2,000 participants, a whopping 79 per cent admitted that while 'major problems' are less likely to get them down, the combined effect of microstresses resulted in poorer wellbeing. TRIP co-founder Olivia Ferdi, said: 'It's clear from the research that the smaller, more frequent stresses of daily life can really build up and grind us down, sometimes having more of an impact than the larger life events. 'Life is stressful enough so it can be really hard to find ways, and time, to chill out and relax. 'Taking some time to have a breather, sitting down and grabbing a drink can give you the break that you need to keep those microstresses at bay.' According to the survey, the single biggest trigger of stress for Brits was being stuck in traffic, with a whopping 53 per cent admitting to being impacted by road jams. Second on the list and causing aggravation to 42 per cent of people, was when a bin bag breaks during the process of taking it out. Losing keys and getting stuck behind a slow walker were equally stress inducing, with a third, 33 per cent, impacted. Additionally, 32 per cent stressed when their house is a tip, while 30 percent tense up when they spill something on their carpet. Other irritants included forgetting to charge a mobile device overnight, which 27 per cent said they were impacted by, losing the TV remote, cited by 26 per cent, and having a car parked outside your house, a strain for 23 per cent. Though minor in principle, the collective impact of several small stressors can be the equivalent to a single more significant event, Dr Spelman explained. 'They interfere with our focus, elevate cortisol levels, and can even alter how we respond to bigger challenges. In a fast-paced society, giving yourself permission to slow down - even for a few moments - can be the most important form of self-care,' she said. Across the country, those most afflicted are in Birmingham, with Brummies enduring 10 stressful moments a day. In comparison, people living in Coventry reported having just six daily tense encounters. The study found that 86 per cent of Brits find life generally irritating at present, with nearly 80 per cent saying they couldn't help being impacted by daily hassles. Bearing the brunt of intense stress, 62 per cent said stress sometimes even triggers them to feel physically sick, with 59 per cent left with headaches. Australians have slammed the 'anger issues' of a reckless Ford Ranger Raptor driver after shocking dashcam emerged. The video showed the Raptor dangerously and illegally changing lanes at an intersection, accelerating behind another vehicle before sharply cutting in front. When the other driver made an attempt to continue on, they were aggressively pursued by the Raptor. The confrontation escalated when the Raptor swerved and collided with the front of the other vehicle during another reckless manoeuvre. After the crash, a man wearing a CFMEU-branded hoodie and a young boy, believed to be his son, then jumped out of the Raptor and approached the other driver. The young boy, could be heard through the car window yelling 'f*** sake' while filming the driver. Inside, the driver could be heard locking his doors and calmly informing them that the entire incident had been captured on his dashcam. Australians tore into the Raptor driver for his behaviour, condemning his 'anger issues'. 'Imagine getting so mad (due to your own dumb f***ery) you drive so aggressively and recklessly that you cause another car to crash into you,' someone said. 'All while your child is in the car, watching, learning. Weak men raise weak men.' Another criticised the illegal behaviour from the driver. 'In the wrong lane at lights, then drives erratically and intentionally cuts off dash cam driver, endangering not just him but this (driver) in the dashcam car and his mini-me son in the passenger seat.' One user also commended the driver of the vehicle recording on Dashcam for keeping their cool during the incident. 'Love that the DC driver is so calm as he knows he's 100 per cent in the right,' one said. NRMA's Peter Khoury told Daily Mail Australia he was left speechless by the video. 'I don't really know what to say, I'm pretty shocked. We hope that erratic behaviour and road rage is rare' he said. 'If you are going to drive like that, not only do you embarrass yourself but you've also broken a number of laws. Just don't do it,' he said. Mr Khoury added that NRMA data suggested at least one in 10 vehicles record dashcam footage. He said dashcams have become more common and subsequently issued a warning to drivers exhibiting poor behaviour: 'You've made the police's job a little easier.' He also advised that, for victims, 'safety is the priority'. 'Call the police, stay in the vehicle and, if you can, get yourself away from that location,' he said.

Woolworths customer films excruciating meltdown after she is stopped from leaving the supermarket with 'free fruit' - as staff try to explain why it's not allowed
A Woolworths shopper filmed the moment she had a meltdown after she was stopped from leaving a supermarket with free fruit because it was meant for children. A staff member stopped the customer as she was leaving the store in Dandenong, south-east Melbourne, after noticing she had not paid for some bananas and apples. In a video shared to TikTok on Monday, the customer told the female worker she took a banana and apple because she was struggling and did not have food at home. 'All I wanted is this free f***ing banana that you give out to kids,' the woman yelled. 'Why would you take the free food away from me when you know it's hard? It's a f***ing free banana, what are you on about. I don't have food at home.' The Woolworths worker calmly explained the free fruit was an initiative reserved for children and as she was an adult she would have to pay for the items. The interaction escalated and the customer, who is a refugee from Russia, accused the worker of telling her to 'go back to your home country'. 'It's embarrassing that you told me to go back to my home country,' the customer said. 'She told me to go back to my country and work harder. You can't treat people like that. It's not okay.' The worker denied the accusation and claimed she was also a refugee and she worked hard too. The customer continued yelling at the worker and demanded she apologise for what she said. 'I never said that love,' the worker said. 'If I have done wrong, then I would apologise to you. You know what you're trying to do, you're trying to be a victim and you're not a victim.' The worker added she would have to call the police if the woman did not leave the store. 'I have been trying to help you but when you're crying like this and yelling and you have been abusing my team for a long time, it's been an hour,' the worker said. 'I am not leaving. Call the cops,' the customer replied. 'It's easier to call the cops than apologise for what you said. I did not steal things, it was free. I am not leaving until I get my apology.' Security intervened and asked the customer what had happened an whether she had asked the staff if she could take a free banana and apple. The customer claimed staff packaging the fruit and vegetables said it was okay for her to take a piece of fruit as long as she told service staff she was struggling. However, the Woolworths staff member claimed the customer had more than one piece of fruit in her cart and that is why she was stopped on her way out. The customer said 'so you never said what you said?' to which the staff member gave in and replied: 'Okay, sorry love about that.' 'I'm so glad to have gotten an apology from her because saying that to someone just because they wanted a free fruit from kids section is not ok,' the customer captioned the video. Social media users did not agree with the customer, with many pointing out the free fruit was clearly marked for children. 'No kid, no banana. Period!' one person commented. A second wrote: 'It's only for children to eat in store'. 'The free fruit in Coles and Woolies are for children to eat while in store. They are not for adults to help themselves for free,' another added.
