US promoting terrorism & dictatorship in the world—RSS mouthpiece days after Trump's 50% tariff bomb
'The world is in turmoil. All the promises of 'free' and 'democratic' liberal world order are proving to be elusive. The unruly world order monopolised by the United States and based on military might and economic exploitation is crumbling down,' the editorial says. 'Trade wars and tariffs are new tools of interference and undermining sovereignty,' the editorial said in the backdrop of the Trump administration raising tariffs on India to 50 percent. New Delhi: Under the façade of being a messiah of freedom and democracy, the United States is promoting terrorism and dictatorship in the world, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) mouthpiece Organiser has said in an editorial. US President Donald Trump on 6 August imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on India as a penalty for New Delhi's continued purchase of Russian oil. The duties are additional to the 25 percent tariff rate announced earlier by Trump. After the end of the world war, the editorial argued, 'it was assumed that the liberal world order had triumphed forever, leading to the spread of democracy, stability and peace across the world.' However, the situation today is 'drastically different from our assumptions', it says. The American unipolar world is in decline and the international institutions like the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation proving to be irrelevant and inefficient, it argues. 'We are witnessing trade wars, unnecessary tariffs, sanctions, and regime change operations. The United States, self-proclaimed messiah of freedom and democracy, is promoting terrorism and dictatorship,' it says. 'China is emerging as a major challenger to the existing system,' it said while underlining the country's 'debt trap' and lack of 'credible' stable institutions. 'Russia-Ukraine War, Israel-Hamas War and Israel-Iran conflicts are the symptoms of this crumbling international order—the clear sign of this crumbling world order—which was never orderly.' The RSS has been silent over the Trump administration's tariffs on India so far, even as its economic wing, the Swadeshi Jagran Manch, said that no country could 'direct' trade rules to another country in a multipolar world. It also appealed to people to adopt 'Swadeshi' products, urging them to boycott goods from US-based companies like Amazon, Walmart and Flipkart (in which Walmart has a majority stake). There is a concerted attempt by 'neo-colonisers' and their domestic agents with vested interests to suppress the cultural resurgence witnessed by India in the last few decades, the Organiser said in the editorial. 'Actions like Surgical Strikes, Operation Sindoor, and continuous assertion to ensure strategic autonomy through prudent foreign policy options are a symbol of the same national consciousness,' it said. 'The forces in favour of the status quo, driven by vested interests, continue to bully the world based on economic and military might. The new assertive Bharat is a bête noire for them. They are using all the neo-colonial machinations to suppress this instinct.' For short-term political interests, some players within Bharat are acting as agents of neo-colonisers, it stated. 'All proposed globalisations—whether American market globalisation, Islamic religious globalisation or ideology-driven Communist globalisation—are nothing but the forms of colonisation imposing a one-size-fits-all approach across the world,' it further said. In order to counter the challenges, it said, India 'will have to face the competition and conflicts based on the current parameters for which we need to be economically prosperous, technologically advanced and militarily self-sufficient'. It also draws a parallel between communism and capitalism, arguing that while the independence movement in India was based on the ideals of Swadharma, Swadeshi and Swaraj, 'unfortunately, the elite of Independent Bharat lost their resilience and succumbed to the binary of capitalism and communism'. Today in Politics: Bengal chief secy may appear before EC to ‘explain' Mamata govt's decision not to suspend ‘erring officials'
A day after the West Bengal government wrote to the Election Commission (EC) that it doesn't intend to suspend just yet its officers accused of committing 'irregularities' in electoral roll revision, the poll panel on Tuesday summoned state Chief Secretary Manoj Pant to Delhi to explain the decision, sources said. The state's top bureaucrat was directed to report in person to Nirvachan Sadan, the EC headquarters in the national capital, by 5 pm on August 13. The move came in response to Pant's communication to the ECI on Monday, stating that suspending the identified officers and filing FIRs against them, as directed by the poll panel, would be 'disproportionately harsh' and have 'demoralising impact' on the officers' community in Bengal. The government, instead, chose to remove two of the five EC-identified officials from active election duty for now and initiate an 'internal inquiry' into the matter. It is interpreted by observers as a fresh flash point in the ongoing face-off between the Mamata Banerjee government and the EC. Sources in the state secretariat Nabanna said that the chief secretary was likely to fly to Delhi on Wednesday and meet the Commission, as directed. Pant on Monday had responded to an EC-set deadline to execute a suspension order against five officials – two Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and two Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) – and a casual data entry operator for allegedly committing irregularities while preparing electoral rolls in Baruipur Purba and Moyna assembly constituencies in South 24 Parganas and Purba Medinipur districts respectively. The poll panel had also directed the chief secretary to lodge FIRs against all five accused and sought an action taken report from the top bureaucrat at the earliest. RSS chief Bhagwat in Odisha RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is likely to begin a three-day visit to Odisha from Wednesday during which he will meet Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati and attend an event in Cuttack. Senior RSS functionary Sumanta Kumar Panda said Bhagwat will reach Bhubaneswar in the evening on August 13 and stay at the Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti office in Mancheswar area. The RSS chief had last visited Odisha in May this year and attended a meeting of select volunteers of the organisation, Panda said. Trade unions to protest against Trump tariff Central trade unions and farmers have called for a nationwide protest on Wednesday to oppose US President Donald Trump's tariff threats and the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). The CTUs-SKM, a group of ten central trade unions and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, strongly condemned the recent threats by Trump to impose 25 per cent tariffs on India, and an additional penalty for the nation's oil purchase from Russia. 'CTUs-SKM calls upon all farmers, workers, students, and patriotic citizens to join the nationwide day of resistance on August 13, 2025, with various mass actions like tractor and motorcycle rallies, protest demonstrations, public gatherings, and other forms of protest as decided by different platforms and partner organizations.' the CTUs-SKM said in a statement. Will Jain monk begin hunger strike over pigeon issue? Jain monk Muni Nileshchandra Vijay has warned of launching an indefinite hunger strike from Wednesday against the decision to shut down Dadar Kabutarkhana to stop people from feeding pigeons and asserted the community would not abide by court orders on the issue if it went against their religious practices. The Jain community is peaceful, but if needed, it will take up arms for religion, he had said on Sunday. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Vijay said, 'We will follow the path of satyagraha and hunger strike. The Jain community is peaceful, but if needed, we will take up arms for our religion. If any decision goes against our faith, we will not accept even the court's order.' He claimed more than 10 lakh Jains from all over the country will take part in the protest. 'The ban targets Jain traditions. The move is politically motivated with elections in mind. ?From ants to elephants, no living being should die (from hunger), that is what our religion teaches. Why is Jainism being targeted? Show how many people die after consuming liquor and chicken,' the monk further said.

Kerala governor trying to turn universities into RSS branches: Hassan
Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Rajendra Arlekar 's suggestion to vice-chancellors to observe Aug 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is part of an effort to turn universities in state into RSS branches, alleged former UDF convener M M Hassan in a statement issued on Tuesday. "State govt should not accept this move by governor under any circumstances. During the freedom struggle, RSS adopted a stance that supported British imperial forces. Sangh Parivar collaborated with the British in the partition of India. Observing Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is a method devised by RSS to avoid celebrating Independence Day," Hassan said. "Central govt recognised this RSS event as an official programme after Narendra Modi came to power, and it has been mandatory in BJP-ruled states. Arlekar is attempting to impose this in Kerala too," he added. "Based on past experiences, it is understood that Modi's act of celebrating Independence Day by hoisting the national flag at Red Fort is a facade, as the day before is observed as Partition Day," he alleged. "Governor's stance tarnishes the sanctity of universities, which are centres of independent thought and knowledge. Governor is turning Kerala's universities into platforms for implementing RSS agenda. Students and the public should oppose this. The student community in Kerala should lead protests exposing governor's communal stance. If governor continues with his communal approach towards universities, the people of Kerala will act, as they did in the past by expelling Sir CP, to remove Rajendra Arlekar," said Hassan.
