Driver arrested after pedestrian dies after being struck by a vehicle in Kingston, Ont.

Police arrested a driver for impaired driving after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Kingston, Ont. on Wednesday evening. The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Bath Road, between Portsmouth Avenue and Sir John A MacDonald Boulevard at approximately 5:30 p.m. Police say the investigation has determined a vehicle travelling eastbound on Bath Road crossed over the median into the westbound lanes and then onto the sidewalk, where a pedestrian was struck. 'The pedestrian was seriously injured and transported to hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries,' police said in a statement. 'The driver of the vehicle was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and transported to Kingston Police Headquarters.' Investigators would like to speak with the owner of a Tesla vehicle who may have dashcam footage to assist the investigation. Police say the Tesla was stopped in a line of traffic at a red light at the intersection of Bath Road and Gardiners Road at approximately 5:25 p.m. 'The Tesla was in the eastbound lanes of Bath Road,' police said. 'A black coloured Hyundai Elantra made an illegal maneuver at the intersection, narrowly missing the Tesla vehicle.' The owner of the Tesla is asked to contact Kingston Police Det. Const.
