Tottenham's James Maddison faces long spell out with ruptured ACL

Maddison collapsed in pain with no one around him against Newcastle and left the pitch on a stretcher in the 86th minute. The 28-year-old missed the end of last season with a knee injury but returned last month to feature under the new head coach, Thomas Frank.

A's place RHP Luis Severino (oblique) on 15-day IL
August 9 - The Athletics placed right-hander Luis Severino on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left oblique strain. The move is retroactive to Wednesday. Signed to a three-year, $67 million contract, Severino (6-11, 4.82 ERA) was in the midst of overcoming a disastrous start to the season by winning each of his last four starts. Severino, 31, is one season removed from posting an 11-7 record with a 3.91 ERA in 31 starts with the New York Mets. A two-time All-Star with the New York Yankees (2017, 2018), Severino is 71-55 with a 3.94 ERA in 196 games (180 starts) with the Yankees (2015-19, 2021-23), Mets (2024) and Athletics. Vikings WR/PR Rondale Moore carted off field with lower body injury
August 10 - The Minnesota Vikings' Rondale Moore, attempting to return to action after missing all of last season with a knee injury, exited the team's preseason opener on Saturday with an apparent lower left leg injury during a second-quarter punt return against the Houston Texans. With Minnesota trailing 7-6, Moore returned a punt 2 yards before Houston linebacker Jamal Hill tackled him along the sideline. Moore stayed on the ground and was carted off the field. This came nearly a year to the day after Moore, then with Atlanta, was carted off the practice field after suffering a right knee injury that required surgery and forced the wideout to miss the entire season.
