Dubai welcomed Serbian powerhouse Partizan Mozzart Bet to Coca-Cola Arena on Thursday night following a shocking loss in Belgrade in the first leg of the semi-final. Needing this win to keep their league ambitions alive, Dubai Basketball prepared for what would be one of their best games this season.
A stark contrast from Game 1 of the semis, Dubai Basketball kept Partizan on edge with unrelenting momentum and strong defensive tactics. Hailing Dubai for their response, Partizan coach Zeljko Obradovic spoke about the intensity of playing Dubai at home, 'We knew they would try to be aggressive here [in Dubai], and they were.'
Dubai's physicality and determination were evident from the beginning moments of the first quarter. Holding a narrow three-point lead in the second quarter, the team gained confidence as they landed crucial three-pointers, pushing ahead into the second half. Arensman wins Tour de France 19th stage as UAE Team Emirates XRG's Pogacar retains yellow jersey
Dutch rider Thymen Arensman picked up a second stage win at the Tour de France on Friday, winning stage 19 at La Plagne ski resort as defending champion Tadej Pogacar closed in on a fourth title. Arensman crossed the finish line exhausted but delirious in the heavy rain, two seconds ahead of title contender Jonas Vingegaard and his great rival Pogacar. Barring a collapse, Team UAE rider Pogacar should claim his fourth Tour de France title aged just 26 years in Paris on Sunday. The attack-minded Pogacar explained how he had played it safe with just two days left until the race finish on the Champs Elysees. 'When Arensman attacked I let him go, setting my own rhythm. It was close, I did want to win, but I'm just glad it's over,' Pogacar said. 'It was a good win from Thymen, he deserved it.' The Slovenian exits the Alps with a lead of 4min 24sec on second-placed Vingegaard. Vingegaard for once finished ahead of Pogacar, but this was a fourth second-place finish on this 21-day slog. Pogacar has dominated the 2025 Tour de France, winning stages on rolling runs in the north and west at Rouen and the Mur de Bretagne in the first week, then twice on the mountain slopes of the Pyrenees in week two. This final mountain stage was shortened overnight due to an outbreak of a cattle infection along the route, reduced to just 93km, which ran to a rowdy finish at 2050m altitude. 25 July 2025 21:35 DUBAI (WAM) UAE Team Emirates-XRG's Tadej Pogačar tightened his grip on the Yellow Jersey during stage 18 of the Tour de France, finishing second behind Ben O'Connor (Jayco AlUla) and gaining 11 seconds, including bonus time, on rival Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) in the final 350 metres of the gruelling Queen Slovenian leads the general classification by nearly four and a half minutes with just three stages remaining. The 182.6km route featured over 5,000 metres of climbing, including the Col du Glandon, Col de la Madeleine, and the summit finish on the Col de la Visma-Lease a Bike's efforts to put Pogačar under pressure, UAE Team Emirates-XRG proved resilient. Teammates Jhonatan Narváez and Adam Yates were instrumental, especially in the final climb, guiding Pogačar through key moments and neutralising attacks.A key turning point came when Vingegaard attacked with 6km to go, but Pogačar responded strongly. As the race reached the final climb, Narváez and Yates took over, setting a fierce pace that dropped key contenders. Pogačar launched a decisive move 350 metres from the line to gain time on Vingegaard and Oscar Onley (Picnic-PostNL), although O'Connor, from an earlier breakaway, held on for the stage said, 'I wanted the stage win, but the priority is the Yellow Jersey. Visma went hard on the Madeleine and downhill, but we kept our composure. There was no cooperation in the valley, so I waited for my teammates. On the final climb, Ben was strong, but I had good legs and held on to Yellow.' With two key mountain stages left before Paris, Pogačar added, 'Today was the Queen stage, and tomorrow is another big one. Three more to go, then vacation.'
