In 'Very Short Stories', Judi Lightfield presents a collection of poetry that reads like miniature narratives, each with a distinct beginning, middle, and end.
With wit, sincerity, and a keen sense of observation, she explores themes ranging from nature and mental health to humor and everyday life. Her poems take unexpected turns, inviting readers on a journey that twists and meanders toward surprising destinations, much like life itself.
Judi Lightfield is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in Environmental Design and Fine Arts, later earning a Master of Arts in Education from Regis University. Her career has spanned teaching, gallery exhibitions, and numerous artistic accolades, but her true passion lies in the creative process itself. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder, she turned to poetry as a new artistic outlet, embracing its ability to shape chaos into meaning. This book marks her literary debut, offering readers a glimpse into her insightful and expressive world.
In 'Life As I Know It: A Biologist's View of the World', Richard Penner examines life through the lens of both science and faith, offering a unique perspective on evolution, the origins of Earth, and the role of religion in shaping humanity.
With a thoughtful and philosophical approach, Penner bridges the gap between generations, encouraging readers to reflect on their own beliefs and the interconnectedness of all life. Grounded in scientific knowledge yet open to broader existential questions, this book invites readers to explore the complexities of existence with curiosity and an open mind.
Richard Penner retired in 2013 and returned to Canada, where he now resides with his wife, Lillian, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. A dedicated scientist and thinker, his work reflects a lifelong passion for understanding the natural world and humanity's place within it.
Set in 1926 Arkansas, Margaret Tutor's 'We're All Just Passing Through' tells the moving story of the Ward family, sharecroppers who open their hearts and home to the struggling Cartwrights while their patriarch is away.
When Mr. Cartwright returns to find his family thriving without him, old wounds and deep-seated beliefs are challenged, forcing his sons to choose between their father's hardened ways and the kindness they have come to know. With richly drawn characters and a deeply human narrative, Tutor crafts a tale of resilience, transformation, and the enduring power of compassion.
Margaret Tutor is an author, genealogist, and storyteller who finds inspiration in the strength and perseverance of past generations. Born and raised in Morrilton, Arkansas, she draws from her family's history to create heartfelt narratives that celebrate love, friendship, and the ties that bind us together.
Paavo Hall's 'Genghis Khan's Mother's Advice to Her Son Before He Leaves Home to Conquer the World and Other Poems' is a bold and evocative poetry collection that presents a dramatic lens on life and death in contemporary America.
Inspired by his time teaching literature to enlisted sailors in the U.S. Navy, Hall's poetry does not focus on the sea but instead captures the struggles, resilience, and raw emotions of those he encountered. The collection is rich with vibrant, thought-provoking verse, influenced by literary greats such as Whitman, Yeats, and Rilke, offering readers a deep and sometimes controversial reflection on modern existence.
A playwright, historian, and poet, Paavo Hall holds a Master's in History from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and an MFA in Playwriting from Yale. His diverse career spans from serving in the army to teaching in Iraq and Saudi Arabia, as well as working as a cab driver and a casino dealer. His plays have graced off-off Broadway stages, the Utah Shakespearean Festival, and the Yale Cabaret. Now residing in Great Falls, Montana, Hall serves as chairman of the library committee for the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation, preserving history while continuing to explore the power of words in shaping human experience.

Paul Craig calls off dogs on UFC Atlanta criticism of Rodolfo Bellato
Paul Craig calls off dogs on UFC Atlanta criticism of Rodolfo Bellato Show Caption Hide Caption UFC on ESPN 69: Paul Craig post-fight interview UFC on ESPN 69 winner Paul Craig talks to MMA Junkie and other reporters post-fight after his no contest result against Rodolfo Bellato in Atlanta. ATLANTA – Paul Craig met the media Saturday after his controversial and bizarre no contest with Rodolfo Bellato at UFC on ESPN 69. The light heavyweight fight between Bellato (12-2-1 MMA, 1-0-1 UFC) and Craig (17-9-1 MMA, 9-9-1 UFC) on the prelims at State Farm Arena officially was waved off with a second left in the opening round after Craig landed an illegal upkick from his back. There was little question that the kick was illegal, but in the immediate aftermath it appeared that Bellato looked to referee Kevin MacDonald to see if he was going to call the foul – then hit the canvas and appeared to be knocked out, only to jolt back to consciousness, at which point he lightly tried to wrestle MacDonald. Although MacDonald could have disqualified Craig, he deemed the kick unintentional, which resulted in the no contest. But the talk quickly turned to whether or not Bellato was genuine in the effects the kick had on him, or if he was, as the post-fight ESPN broadcast crew put it, turning in an Oscar-worthy performance trying to get an easy win. And while Craig admitted after the fight it might not be a great look, he said he's going to choose to think Bellato was sincere. "A few people messaged me and they're saying it looked a bit 'flop'ish, like he was maybe hamming it up," Craig said. "I wouldn't think any fighter is looking for an easy way out in this sport. We're all fighters, we're all in the UFC at the pinnacle of our careers, and we're looking to put on performances. "But I can see where people are looking at it like it looks a bit 'flop'ish, like he's taking a dive. I don't want to think that, but I need to watch it back. Craig said he spoke to Bellato after the fight, and the Brazilian told him he didn't know what happened. Besides, Craig reasoned, there'd be no situation to have controversy over if he hadn't thrown the kick to begin with. "It's my fault as much as it is his fault," Craig said. "We shouldn't be looking to persecute him if he's taking the knee. It was an illegal move (by me)." Check out Craig's post-fight news conference in the video above.

Sam Rockwell Backed Out of 'G.I. Jane' After Drunken Night Out with Star Demi Moore When She 'Shaved Our Heads'
Sam Rockwell was cast in the 1997 action film G.I. Jane, but ultimately dropped out before filming began Rockwell said in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live that the training to portray a Navy SEAL was so intense he ultimately decided against the part While he didn't stay for filming, he did manage to have a memorable night with the film's star, Demi MooreSam Rockwell was nearly in the 1997 action film G.I. Jane — and while he didn't stay for filming, he did manage to have a memorable night with the film's star, Demi Moore. In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Rockwell, 56, said part of his reasoning for leaving the film was the brutal training required. "Well, I realized that when you play a Navy SEAL in BUD/S training, you have to be in the water a lot. So I probably should have read the script more thoroughly," he said. "I was in the water a little more than I wanted to be, and I was really, really skinny at the time, and I didn't have a lot of body fat on me, and I was getting early hyperthermia." Rockwell added: "I did the boot camp, and then I split." But despite the fact that he left before filming began, he did get to meet the film's star, Moore. "Demi Moore had just done Striptease, the movie," he said. "And she got a strip joint, and she got all these strippers and the Navy SEALs and the actors, and got us drunk on tequila — and the strippers and Demi Moore shaved our heads and we got drunk with Navy SEALs and got lap dances." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Moore starred as Lt. Jordan McNeil in the 1997 film, famously shaving her head before filming began. Rockwell, meanwhile, recently appeared on season 3 of The White Lotus as an old friend of Walton Goggins' mysterious, eccentric character Rick. His longtime partner Leslie Bibb — who starred in the show — has said he "got cast at the last minute" for the role, which included a very memorable monologue. "I read all eight [episodes] and I remember when I got to this monologue and this scene and I remember thinking, 'I've never seen anything like this on television,' and I felt like it's what Mike [White] was really trying to talk about with this show ... He comes in and he's like, 'Here's my truth' and he's unapologetic," Bibb said in a March appearance on CBS Mornings. Read the original article on People
