Egypt calls for political solution to Russia-Ukraine War
Egypt has affirmed the importance of political solutions to international crises, with particular emphasis on the Russia-Ukraine war. Egypt has been following with interest the consultations that took place in Saudi Arabia aimed at reaching understandings to end the conflict.
For decades, Egypt has emphasized the need to resolve disputes peacefully, based on the United Nations Charter and various principles of international law. It considers these principles to be the main references for the international system and the fundamental pillars governing international relations, believing that settling disputes peacefully and addressing their root causes is the only way to restore security, stability, and peace.
From this perspective, Egypt has participated in Arab and African initiatives, as well as the 'Friends of Peace' initiative. It expresses its support for every initiative and effort aimed at ending the crisis. In this regard, Egypt stresses the need to consolidate political solutions as a primary basis for resolving international crises, which was reflected in Egypt's involvement in a number of initiatives aimed at settling the crisis, and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's call in November 2022 for the importance of finding a peaceful settlement to this crisis in light of its humanitarian, economic, and security repercussions.
Current trends, including those of the US administration, calling for an end to wars and conflicts around the world, particularly in the Middle East, could provide momentum and a glimmer of hope for ending the various military confrontations raging in several regions around the world, through fair political settlements that enjoy international consensus and take into account the interests of all parties, including in connection with the Palestinian issue and the conflict in the Middle East.
Humanity has long suffered from the ravages of wars and conflicts, and it is time to demonstrate to the peoples of the world that we indeed live in a world governed by the values of civilization, tolerance, understanding, and justice, by overcoming unilateral tendencies that ignite destructive feuds, and rising to common human principles, giving hope for a better tomorrow for humanity.

OPEN// Sisi, Erdogan warn of regional chaos amid Israeli escalation
CAIRO, June 14 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call on Saturday from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shenawy said in a statement. The two leaders discussed the escalating Israeli military operations in the region, expressing deep concern over the potential catastrophic consequences of the ongoing escalation. They emphasized that such actions could gravely endanger the region's stability and security and risk plunging the Middle East into widespread chaos, with consequences that would impact all countries without exception. Both presidents underscored the urgent need for an immediate halt to military operations and a return to diplomatic negotiations between the United States and Iran, with the Sultanate of Oman acting as a mediator. They agreed that this is the only viable path toward a peaceful resolution of the current crisis. President Sisi stressed the importance of adopting a comprehensive approach to address all regional security concerns related to nuclear non-proliferation. He called for the universalization of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), particularly in the Middle East, and the establishment of a region free of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), which should include all countries in the region. Sisi reaffirmed that a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian cause, through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only guarantee for lasting peace and regional stability. He also reiterated the call for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Erdogan expressed his full support for the Egyptian stance. Both leaders rejected any attempt to forcibly displace the Palestinian people or liquidate the Palestinian cause. They agreed to maintain ongoing coordination and joint efforts to restore regional stability. (MENA) M S H/R G E

Egyptian, Turkish leaders warn regional escalation risks ‘catastrophic repercussions'
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, warned in a phone call on Saturday that ongoing Israeli escalation in the region could have catastrophic consequences for regional security and stability. According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, the two leaders stressed that the current approach to the conflict could expose the resources of the region's peoples to grave danger and risked plunging the entire Middle East into 'overwhelming chaos' with consequences for all nations. Egyptian Presidency Spokesperson Mohamed El Shennawy said the leaders emphasised the need for an immediate halt to military actions. They also called for a return to negotiations between the United States and Iran, with Omani mediation, describing it as the only path to a peaceful resolution of the current crisis. The spokesperson added that Sisi stressed the need for a comprehensive approach to address all security concerns related to nuclear non-proliferation in the region. This would involve achieving the universality of the Non-Proliferation Treaty and establishing a Middle East zone free of weapons of mass destruction that includes all countries in the region. The two presidents also discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip. The spokesman said Sisi reiterated that a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the 'only guarantee' for achieving lasting peace and stability. Sisi called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, a position the Turkish president supported. The leaders affirmed their complete rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land or the 'liquidation of the Palestinian cause,' and agreed to continue consultation and joint work to restore regional stability.
