Ryan Yarbrough, Yankees shut down Dodgers to avoid sweep
June 2 - Ben Rice hit a two-run home run and left-hander Ryan Yarbrough went six strong innings against his former club as the visiting New York Yankees avoided a three-game sweep in a World Series rematch with a 7-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
DJ LeMahieu had four hits and drove in a pair of runs as the Yankees finished a 6-3 road trip against the Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels and Dodgers. It was LeMahieu's first four-hit game since June of 2021.
Yarbrough (3-0), who received his World Series ring this weekend after making 32 relief appearances with the Dodgers last season, gave up one run on four hits with no walks and five strikeouts in his fifth start of the season.
Tommy Edman, Andy Pages and Max Muncy each hit home runs for the Dodgers, who saw a late surge fall short after scoring a combined 26 runs in two victories to start the series.
Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto (6-4) gave up four runs while tying a career high with seven hits allowed in 3 2/3 innings as he gave up three walks. He failed to complete five innings for the first time this season.
The Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a single from Jasson Dominguez, before the Dodgers tied it in the second on Edman's ninth home run.
New York moved in front for good in the third inning when Rice followed a leadoff walk to Aaron Judge with a two-run home run to center field. Anthony Volpe and Austin Wells singled with one out and Volpe scored on a two-out wild pitch from Yamamoto.
The Dodgers closed within 6-3 in the seventh inning against right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga when Pages and Muncy hit home runs in a span of three batters. Muncy hit his third home run in two games and now has seven on the season.
LeMahieu's fourth hit of the game was an RBI double in the ninth.
Dominguez hurt his left thumb after stealing second base in the fifth inning.
The Dodgers were playing without Mookie Betts, who missed the series with a fracture at the tip of a toe on his left foot.

A Washington woman has gone viral after being filmed almost completely submerged underwater while digging for a seafood delicacy. Amber Fauci, an Arizona native, dove head first into the sand during her first ever time hunting for geoduck clams. In a video demonstrating the process, Fauci is seen struggling to pull herself out of the hole in her attempt to catch the saltwater clam. Geoduck clams are the world's largest burrowing clam, according to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. On average, they reach just over two to two-and-a-half pounds - including the shell, and can live up to 150 years. The woman recording the video, Michelle Weaver, told Fox 13 that it's important to remain still and stay vigilant for water shooting out of the sand. 'So we dug out quite a bit of sand first, and you get to that point where you gotta reach deeper - and I'm short. I am five-foot-one, so I don't have really long arms, so I'm in there, and I saw that opportunity,' Fauci told the outlet. 'Anybody who's gotten their feet stuck [in the sand] knows how far it suctions you down. 'So I'm sitting there trying to pull myself up from the sand, and that's the struggle everybody thought was, "Oh my gosh, she's stuck." I wasn't stuck,' Fauci continued. 'But I knew the tide was coming up, and that's when I decided to come up. It was when the tide hit my nose. I didn't feel like holding my breath, so that was when I started struggling to come up.' Fauci emerged up, sand and water over her hand, before fellow diver, Tyler Weaver, grabbed the geoduck and pulled it from the sand near the end of the video. He said that after digging three to four feet deep, a geoduck diver has to move quickly before it gets away. They used a 'geoduck gun' that has been in Tyler's family for three generations of his family, the outlet reported. Michelle described the device as a 'glorified soup pot that has no bottom, that clearly can fit an entire human in it.' 'That helps from the water - from the tide coming in, or the sand falling in while you're trying to dig, because there's nothing like digging and then a whole pile of sand lands right where you just dug,' she said. Comments on the viral video were stunned by Fauci's dedicated hunting attempt. 'I'm sorry WHAT ma'am did you almost drown for a [geoduck]?' one said. 'Her moving around was scaring me like I was thinking she needed help and I'm like WHY ARE STANDING AROUND LAUGHING AT HER GET HER OUTTT but she good,' another said. One wrote: 'I didn't see the tube at first and thought she was just stuck in the sand and water. Didn't understand why everyone was so chill.' After their hunting efforts proved successful, the group took the geoducks and celebrated with clam and geoduck chowder. Michelle described Fauci as a 'legit badass' for her 'geoduck digging dedication.'

Oregon high school star reveals shocking message from officials after protesting trans athletes
Oregon track star Alexa Anderson has revealed she was ordered away from the high jump podium by angry officials after she protested the inclusion of a trans athlete. Anderson and fellow competitor Reese Eckard were filmed refusing to step onto the podium during the medal ceremony, in an apparent protest of a fifth-place finisher who is reportedly transgender. Rather than taking their spots on the podium, footage obtained by Fox News showed the girls turning their backs to the crowd before being ushered away from the ceremony by an official. Now, Anderson has revealed that the official was apparently deeply unimpressed by the gesture. She told Fox: 'We stepped off the podium in protest and, as you can see, the official kind of told us "hey, go over there, if you're not going to participate, get out of the photos". 'They asked us to move away from the medal stand, so when they took the photos, we weren't even in it at all.' Anderson had finished third in the competition while fellow protestor Eckard had just clinched fourth place. Anderson continued: 'It's unfair because biological males and biological females compete at such different levels that letting a biological male into our competition is taking up space and opportunities from all these hardworking women. 'The girl in ninth who should have came in eighth and had that podium spot taken away from her, as well as many others.' She added: 'This was my first time competing against a transgender individual and the first public stand I have taken in this issue. 'But I have privately supported all the other girls who have done the same.' Anderson insisted at the time, in a separate interview with Fox, that she was not trying to stir hatred towards the trans community. 'We didn't refuse to stand on the podium out of hate,' she said. 'We did it because someone has to say this isn't right. 'In order to protect the integrity and fairness of girls sports we must stand up for what is right.' Daily Mail has reached out to the Oregon School Activities Association for comment on the controversy. Oregon is one of several states challenging President Donald Trump's 'Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports' executive order, which threatens to deny federal funding to rogue governments. The American Medical Association and American Psychiatric Association have both stated that gender is a spectrum and not a binary structure, as the White House argued in its January 20 executive order 'defending women from gender ideology.'
