Denis Villeneuve to Direct Next James Bond Film for Amazon MGM
The next James Bond chapter has begun. Denis Villeneuve, the visionary behind 'Dune,' 'Blade Runner 2049,' and 'Arrival,' has been tapped to direct the next James Bond film for Amazon MGM Studios, the company announced on Wednesday.
Villeneuve will also executive produce alongside Tanya Lapointe. Amy Pascal and David Heyman, as previously announced, are shepherding the franchise and producing for Amazon MGM after taking over from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

'Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since 'Dr. No' with Sean Connery. I'm a die-hard Bond fan,' Villeneuve said in a statement. 'To me, he's sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor. Amy, David, and I are absolutely thrilled to bring him back to the screen. Pascal and Heyman said in a statement, 'Denis Villeneuve has been in love with James Bond movies since he was a little boy. It was always his dream to make this movie, and now it's ours, too. We are lucky to be in the hands of this extraordinary filmmaker.'
The next big question for Villeneuve is when any new Bond film, which will be the 26th in the long-running spy franchise, would begin production and who will play 007. Villeneuve is expected to be working on a third 'Dune' film, with reports that it could begin shooting as early as this summer and could be aiming for a December 2026 release date, but nothing has been formally announced around the third film. THR however recently reported that Robert Pattinson was being eyed for a role in the film as its villain.
Villeneuve is a four-time Oscar nominee (and IndieWire Honors recipient!) and with the two 'Dune' films has made a statement as one of the bigger directorial names at the box office in the biz. Last year's 'Dune: Part Two' was nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture, and won two.
Villeneuve is represented by CAA, Carlos Goodman, and ID.

Pembrokeshire rider qualifies for Horse of the Year Show
Grace Gibbon and The Granite Way will be heading to Horse of the Year Show in October (Image: 1stClassImages) A Haverfordwest rider has qualified for the Horse of the Year Show. Amateur equestrian Grace Gibbon and her horse, The Granite Way, secured their spot at the prestigious event after winning at the SEIB Search for a Star qualifier at Pickering Grange in Leicestershire. Advertisement The pair claimed first place in the Working Horse class, judged by Michaela Bowling and Samantha DeCaprio, earning them a place at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) in Birmingham. Ms Gibbon said: "This is the only HOYS qualifier we have done together. "My mum and I work full-time but we both were off today so we decided to give it a go. "My mum and I share Fern, as we call The Granite Way at home, and we all aim to go out and have fun and anything else is a bonus." The Horse of the Year Show will take place at the NEC in Birmingham in early October. The Granite Way, affectionately known as Fern, came to the family through a friend. Advertisement Ms Gibbon said: "Fern came from a family friend Sarah Gould, he is brilliant—my mum takes him to West Wales Riding Club every week too. "I did Search for a Star when I was 12 back in 2009 with my Show Hunter Pony, Small Land Screen Play, and we took 4th place. "Having read the rules recently I realised I could now come back to give it another go." After a decade-long break from riding while studying and working, Ms Gibbon returned to the sport with her mother. She currently works as a chartered surveyor. The SEIB Search for a Star series has been running since 1996, giving amateur riders the chance to compete at top-level events like HOYS. Advertisement Nicolina MacKenzie, organiser of the SEIB Search for a Star, said: "Search for a Star is all about the journey and learning and improving over time. "Our team of judges and stewards are all invested in providing support and encouragement to help competitors and their horses and ponies perform to the best level they can." The series includes a range of classes for different types of show horses, with qualifiers held across the country. Winners earn a place in the championships at HOYS and at Your Horse Live. SEIB is well known for its specialist equestrian insurance, offering cover for horses, riders, horseboxes, trailers, and equestrian businesses.

André Rieu's 2025 Maastricht concert will be broadcast in more than 600 UK cinemas, including one in Bournemouth.. The performances on Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31 will feature the violinist and his orchestra in Vrijthof Square, Maastricht.
