‘South Park' creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are not happy about the Paramount/Skydance merger
'In response to the press release from Comedy Central about the change in premiere date for South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone said: This merger is a s**tshow and it's f**king up South Park,' the two wrote in a post shared on social media. 'We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.'
'South Park' airs on Comedy Central, which is a part of Paramount. The company is in the process of being sold to Skydance Media.
New episodes of 'South Park' were scheduled to air after a two-year wait on July 9. The Season 27 premiere has been pushed to July 23.
The delay comes amid uncertainty and negotiations over streaming rights to the popular animated property, according to Deadline. 'South Park' had an exclusive streaming contract with HBO Max that expired last week.
Paramount Global recently announced an agreement to pay $16 million to resolve a lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump over a '60 Minutes' news report aired on CBS last fall.
The merger is reportedly expected to close on July 6, though it could possibly be extended.

At the end of the game, Madix told the Islanders that America also voted for their favorite girl and boy in the villa, but this time, the vote would put them at risk of being dumped. Madix revealed the three boys and three girls who received the least number of votes, leaving them vulnerable to being dumped from the villa. The boys with the fewest votes were Taylor Williams, TJ Palma, and Austin Shepard. The girls with the fewest votes were Jaden Duggar, Gracyn Blackmore, and Andreina Santos. Although the plotting in all these films isn't really the point, this one follows Ethan Hunt as he battles an organization of skilled operatives known as the Syndicate. What's more crucial, though, is that this film introduces Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa Faust, a potential double agent whose loyalties remain a mystery through much of the film's running time. Ferguson was the first female lead in the entire series to go blow for blow with Tom Cruise, and she walks away with the entire movie when all is said and done. The movie, which is based on a true story, follows a pair of married outlaws who lose their baby to the state and become determined to get him back. After breaking her husband out of jail, the two set off on an extended car chase across Texas and eventually take a state trooper hostage. It's a thrilling, surprising movie that feels totally unlike anything else that Spielberg made over the course of his career. Anchored by a brilliant performance by Goldie Hawn, it feels like a window into a totally different career the director might have had. You can watch The Sugarland Express on Netflix. The Redeem Team (2022) Netflix has not one but two excellent basketball documentaries about the U.S. Olympic team. The Redeem Team is the first and tells the story of the 2012 U.S. men's basketball team as they fight for redemption on the world stage after a disappointing outing in 2008. Many of the biggest stars in the world were on hand to play in the Olympics and to discuss their experience in this documentary, including LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwyane Wade.
