Florida legend Tim Tebow included on AP's 100th anniversary all-time All-America Team
The Associated Press recently announced its All-Time All-America teams amidst the organization's 100th anniversary, bestowing one of the most prestigious honors in college football among a very select few. It should come as no surprise that Florida Gators legend Tim Tebow made the cut, but even the Orange and Blue faithful might be mildly surprised by which roster he landed in. According to the AP's latest lineup, the storied collegiate quarterback earned the First-Team spot under center, joining a star-studded group of historic greats. "Florida's Tim Tebow edged Texas' Vince Young (2005) for all-time first-team quarterback. Tebow won the Heisman and made the AP All-America team as a sophomore in 2007, his first year as the starter," AP writer Eric Olson offers. "He led the Gators to their second national championship in three years in 2008 and narrowly missed a chance at another when the 2009 team started 13-0 but lost to Alabama in the SEC championship game. He remains the SEC career leader in rushing touchdowns and touchdowns responsible for." First team by conference *Based on players' school affiliations at the time they were in college About the AP All-Time All-America team "Of the 25 players on the first team, five won the Heisman Trophy and 21 are in the College Football Hall of Fame, two are nominated for induction in 2026 and two are not eligible because they are not yet 10 years removed from their college careers," the article states. "A panel of 12 AP sports writers who cover college football selected the all-time team. It won't be, and shouldn't be, considered definitive. There have been far more great players over the last century than spots available. "For a player to qualify, he must have been an AP first-team All-American at least once. His professional career, if any, was not to be considered. Also, a member of the all-time team could only be listed on the side of the ball where he was named first-team All-America. All-purpose players could come from any position. "Voters were cautioned against recency bias, but it is notable that only three of the first-team selections played before 1970. Of the 12 players who were three-time All-Americans, only four made the two all-time teams picked by AP." Want to leave Man City? Guardiola tells Savinho and Ederson to 'knock on my door'
MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Pep Guardiola said if Brazil internationals Savinho and Ederson want to leave Manchester City they should just come ask. The City manager addressed speculation about the players' future on Friday, a day before the team opens its Premier League campaign at Wolverhampton. 'If they want to leave they will come to me. I'm working with them because I am here. If they want to leave, they will knock on my door,' Guardiola. The 21-year-old Savinho joined City last summer on a $45 million transfer and signed a five-year contract but has been linked to Tottenham, which has seen Son Heung-min leave this offseason and James Maddison go down with an ACL tear. Savinho, a winger, scored three goals in 48 total appearances last season. 'I don't know,' Guardiola responded when asked if Savinho would stay. 'Tottenham in that case or any other club (that) wants a player should call the club, right?' Guardiola insisted that he hopes Savinho stays. 'I'm only concerned right now today that Savinho will be with us until the rest of the season and hopefully for many, many years because with 21 years old with the potential that he has ... plays lots of minutes, he has to improve in the final decisions ... but he's an extraordinary player,' Guardiola said. Still, Savinho won't travel with the team for the season opener because of an unspecified injury from last week's friendly in Sicily. 'Savinho is injured, sorry I didn't remember,' Guardiola said. 'He's injured from Palermo. Had a problem. A few weeks he will be out.' The 31-year-old Ederson has been Guardiola's first-choice goalkeeper since arriving from Benfica in 2017. He's helped City win six league titles, among other trophies. British press reports say Turkish club Galatasaray wants to sign him. 'Ederson didn't come to me and say 'I want to leave, I have an offer,' so all the players (who) are here are our players, and I work with them. What's going to happen (in the transfer window) nobody knows."

Carlo Ancelotti's son wins his first Copa Libertadores match as Botafogo coach
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Davide Ancelotti, the son of Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti, has won his first Copa Libertadores match as the new manager of defending champion Botafogo. The 35-year-old Ancelotti joined the Brazilian club in July for his first experience as a full-time coach. Botafogo beat Ecuador's Liga de Quito 1-0 at Nilton Santos Stadium in the first leg of a round-of-16 tie late Thursday. Striker Artur scored after 14 seconds. For official purposes, assistant Cláudio Cacapa signed the match-related documents as Botafogo's coach. Ancelotti did not have full authorization from CONMEBOL to fill that role for a bureaucratic reason, according to Botafogo. Last month, Ancelotti was contracted through 2026 after Botafogo owner John Textor fired Renato Paiva following the team's round-of-16 elimination at the Club World Cup. The Italian has worked for more than a decade alongside his father in different roles at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton, and Real Madrid. He is also part of Ancelotti's staff at Brazil. ___
