6 lanes, footpaths: Revamp for key e-way link by early next year in Gurgaon

Time of Indiaa day ago
Gurgaon: The long-pending revamp of the stretch connecting Naurangpur Road and Rampura Chowk on NH8 may kick off early next year, with GMDA having received the administrative approval for the project in April.
According to the GMDA's plan, the upgraded stretch will have an 84m wide road, featuring a six-lane main carriageway, surface drains, footpaths and a central verge. The corridor will also improve connectivity with Tauru, Nuh and parts of Rajasthan.
The key arterial road — connecting Naurangpur to Rampura Chowk on NH8 — serves as a lifeline for residents of sectors 78, 79 and 80.

It has long suffered from poor road conditions and increasing traffic volumes due to rapid urbanisation in the surrounding areas.
This expansion is expected to ease mounting traffic pressure in the newly developed sectors along the highway. The existing 5.5-metre-wide stretch has become "increasingly unsafe" and inconvenient for daily commuters.
GMDA is now in the process of appointing a consultant to prepare a detailed project report (DPR), which is crucial, officials said, since multiple utilities — such as water pipelines, sewerage lines, electricity cables and telecom infrastructure — are laid along the 2km-long corridor.

A proper assessment is needed to plan their relocation and estimate the overall project cost. GMDA earlier estimated the cost of redevelopment at Rs 41.8 crore.
A GMDA official said, "The report will help assess the cost of relocating these utilities and help in executing the work in a planned manner to minimise disruption."
While the alignment of this master road was finalised years ago and land compensation awarded in 2016, the project faced multiple setbacks due to encroachments and administrative delays.
A breakthrough came in March this year when Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran carried out a demolition drive to remove illegal structures blocking the proposed alignment.
GMDA subsequently demarcated the road, clearing the deck for construction.
Dhirendra Singh, a resident of Mount Ville, said, "Development has picked up pace in the area, but this road has not seen any improvement. Over a dozen residential societies are coming up and there's constant movement of heavy trucks. Schools and hospitals lie just across the highway, but the existing road remains narrow and congested. Rampura Chowk has become a bottleneck. Any delay in the project will only worsen the chaos.

The dealership is under construction and is nearing completion. The picture of the under-construction dealership has been shared on social media, which is expected to begin operations soon. Once it begins operations, the carmaker will be able to serve consumers in Delhi and the national capital region. The Tesla Model Y was recently introduced in the Indian market. On the same day, the automaker's official website for India became operational. Initially, consumers could only select Mumbai, New Delhi, and Gurugram for their car registration. Additionally, the website states that the on-road prices listed may vary due to several factors. It also notes that customers in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram will receive priority for delivery. After finalizing the process, the car will be delivered directly to the consumer's location on a flat-bed truck. While self-driving capability is available in India for Rs 6 lakh, this feature will be introduced at a later date. The manufacturer has launched both the RWD (rear-wheel drive) and long-range RWD variations of the vehicle in India. The starting price for the RWD model is Rs 59.89 lakh, whereas the long-range variant is priced at Rs 67.89 lakh. As a result, the on-road cost for the RWD version comes to Rs 61.07 lakh. In contrast, the long-range variant's on-road price is Rs 69.15 lakh. The rear-wheel drive version of the Tesla Model Y in India is available with either a 60 kWh or a larger 75 kWh battery pack. The RWD version is equipped with a single electric motor that generates approximately 295 hp. Furthermore, the 60 kWh battery claims a WLTP range of 500 km when fully charged, while the long-range version is said to provide a range of 622 km.
