Mason Greenwood breaks silence over Marseille future amid reports French giants will listen to offers for ex-Man United star this summer
Mason Greenwood has spoken out over his Marseille future amid reports the French club could listen to offers for the former Man United forward this summer.
Greenwood is the second top goalscorer in Ligue 1 this season having struck 19 times, with only Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele ahead on 21.
The 23-year-old's goals have proved key to Marseille sealing a return to the Champions League this season.
Roberto De Zerbi 's side will be assured of finishing as Ligue 1 runners-up should they beat Rennes in their final match of the season on Saturday.
Despite an impressive debut season, Greenwood has faced criticism at points this season for his work rate from supporters and was briefly dropped by De Zerbi.
French outlet RMC Sport reported this week that Marseille are not desperate to retain Greenwood this summer, following claims two Premier League clubs could look to bring him back to England.
Greenwood revealed he is settled in the French city and highlighted how he and his partner Harriet Robson had recently welcomed their second daughter
Greenwood, speaking at a press conference on Friday, has stressed he wants to remain at Marseille next season.
'I hope to be here next year and play in the Champions League,' Greenwood said. 'Players have told me it's special to play here.
'I think it's been a very positive season, we've reached our objective.
'I recently had a baby here with my girlfriend, I feel at home here, it is a very special place.
'Not a lot of people get to come to Marseille and get to experience playing for this amazing football club.
'I am happy and with the goals I have scored this season, it is a big achievement for me and with the players and staff we have here, anything is possible.'
In February, Greenwood welcomed his second child with his partner Harriet Robson.
Greenwood previously revealed his first child, daughter Summer, had been born in July 2023.
Greenwood and his family moved to Marseille last summer after he completed a £30million move from Manchester United.
The forward joined the club following a season long loan spell at Spanish side Getafe last season.
It was decided he would leave Man United after he was arrested in January 2022 before being charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.
Charges against Greenwood were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service following the 'withdrawal of key witnesses and new material coming to light'.
Reports recently claimed that Greenwood is 'pining' for a return to his home country, and believes that such a move would be possible because the 'vitriol' aimed at him during his time charged with domestic assault and afterwards has 'died down'.

Rangers transfer news as Cyriel Dessers to AEK hits snag, freed flop has three options and Cortes returns early
The 30-year-old striker is a target for the Greek giants but there is a stand-off over the fee Rangers are playing hardball with AEK Athens over Cyriel Dessers - as the Greeks look to land the striker for a cut price fee. He's verbally agreed a bumper deal that will see him earn around 1.8million euros a year with the former Super League champions. All that's to be finalised now is a fee with Rangers and 30-year-old Dessers is reportedly being made to wait as the Ibrox chiefs wrestle over a transfer fee with AEK. AEK - whose fierce rivals Panathinaikos face Rangers in the Champions League - were taken over by shipping magnate Marios Iliopoulos last year and the new owner is ready to push the boat out to land Dessers. But Sport Time report that AEK hope to agree a fee of around £3.8million - with Rangers 'not at that level yet' on a player they paid £4.5m for, instead holding out for nearer £5m. The Nigeria international has been the subject of regular interest in recent windows, with his agent Stijn Franics revealing that he had as many as TEN clubs sniffing about his signature back in January. Dessers' former Ibrox team-mate Tom Lawrence is on the hunt for a new club after his injury-plagued time in Scotland came to an end. The Wales international spent three seasons in Govan but was often on the treatment table as he failed to show his quality. Hometown club Wrexham - newly promoted to the English Championship - are said to be interested along with Midlands rivals Coventry City and West Brom. Meanwhile, the Rangers Review report that Oscar Cortes has returned to Glasgow early in a bid to hit the ground running under new boss Russell Martin. The Colombian cost the club £4.5m from French side Lille after an initial loan spell but has also suffered with injuries.

Caring Lionesses help friends & family with costs for 'very expensive' Euro 2025
The Lionesses kick off their campaign in Zurich against France on July 5 as they defend their European title, with stars reaching into their own pockets to ensure friends and family can watch them in Switzerland England midfielder Georgia Stanway has revealed some players are reaching into their own pockets to help ensure friends and family can watch them defend their European title in one of the world's most expensive countries. The Lionesses kick off their campaign in Zurich against France on July 5 before facing the Netherlands and Wales in the group stage. Euro 2025 host nation Switzerland may be a much shorter trip for supporters than the 2023 World Cup in Australia, but the cost of attending the tournament may prove prohibitive for some. 'I think it's all subjective, isn't it?' said Stanway when asked whether the friendlier time difference, compared to Australia, would make the Euros more accessible. 'My families can (attend), but I'm also aware that Switzerland is a very expensive country. 'Even just for flights, hotels, the cost of living there is extremely high, so we understand the demand it is on fans. And I think that's difficult for us as well, because we want to help and support as much as possible, even with our own families. 'A lot of us are putting our hands in our pockets to make sure that our families can get over there. We would love to see as many fans as possible and we want to thank them in advance because we know it's not cheap.' All 23 players are given an identical sum to put towards travel plans for loved ones, which can be used for transport and accommodation. The undisclosed figure is no less than England's men receive for the same purpose and comparable to what the Lionesses were allotted for the World Cup. Players are also granted a small allocation of tickets free of charge. England and Manchester United midfielder Ella Toone added: 'I've heard it's quite expensive. It's one of the most expensive countries in the world, that's what I heard. 'I think it will be a bit difficult for families who are staying out for the whole tournament, but I know that I'll always help my family be out there and make memories and make sure they're eating.' Arsenal defender Lotte Wubben-Moy was grateful for any fans who were able and willing to make their way to Switzerland. She said: 'I think it speaks a lot to the fans that we have in general here in England. A lot of people are willing to go above and beyond to be able to watch us and that's quite inspiring for us. It creates an energy that we not only felt during the Euros, but we still felt it in Australia regardless of the time difference. 'It's something that we see as our cliche of the 12th woman out there. I think us as a country, historically, but also for the next years, we'll lean on our fans as much as we can.'

Magpies face a fight to keep their top players and add quality signings
When Newcastle United were bought by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund many thought the club would soon be awash with new recruits costing kings' ransoms. It hasn't worked out that way. Profit and Sustainability Rules have kept spending at St James' Park in check and the Magpies have not made the anticipated huge outpourings, recently going a couple of transfer windows without making any significant new signings. That is certain to change this summer after a successful season in which the Toon Army won their first major silverware in 70 years by beating Liverpool at Wembley to lift the Carabao Cup before a strong finish took them to fifth in the Premjer League, guaranteeing a place as one of six English clubs in next season's Champions League. Manager Eddie Howe was able to work his magic because the lack of European action meant fewer games last season and he got away with using a thinner squad than he would have ideally wanted. But now Newcastle are sitting at the top table they will need to bring in three or four quality recruits if they are to cope with the increased demands placed on their resources. Their first task will be to secure the long-term services of star striker Alexander Isak, whose goals led them to success, while the Magpies may also have to repel bids from Manchester City and clubs in Saudi Arabia for captain and inspirational midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. But they are closing in on capturing Joao Pedro from Brighton and although they have been heavily linked with a move for Crystal Palace's England defender Marc Guehi it appears that approach may have gone cold. Instead, the talk in Tyneside is that they may make a double swoop on the Seagulls by also making a successful bid for central defender Jan Paul van Hecke, who has been attracting interest from numerous well-heeled clubs including Liverpool. Bookmakers bet365, though, have the Magpies at 12/1 to lure Jarell Quansah away from Liverpool, although the same company have Bayer Leverkusen as 4/9 favourites to have him on their books next season, and the better bet is for Newcastle to win the race to sign midfielder Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, which is 3/1 with Ladbrokes and Coral. There's no need to go fishing for alternatives in the betting market for the Gold Cup on day three at Royal Ascot as Trawlerman will net big rewards. Aiden O'Brien's classy Illinois is the market leader but Trawlerman, trained by John and Thadee Gosden and ridden by William Buick, can reel him after finishing second on similar good to firm ground in this race 12 months ago. He won at Sandown last time out and is easy to find at 5/2 with Ladbrokes, Coral, bet365 and many others. O'Brien's Charles Darwin is the favourite for the Norfolk, which opens proceedings, but preference goes to Richard Hannon's First Legion at 14/1 with William Hill. More Trending Also have an each-way nibble on Exclamation at 100/1 with Ladbrokes, Coral and Hills. Second behind Ali Shuffle at Chester last time out and third to Military Code at Newmarket before that, both winners have since run well in decent races. The big price shouldn't be a deterrent either as Cairo was third at the same odds behind Docklands in the Queen Anne on Tuesday. Serious Contender can live up to his name in the King George V for the O'Brien/Moore partnership at 7/2 with bet365 while Consolidation can improve on an eye-catching success at Goodwood last time out by winning the Britannia Stakes at 11/1 with the same firm, StarSports, Betfred and Bet Victor. Scottie Scheffler may smarting after failing to win the US Open at Oakmont on Sunday but preference for this week's Travelers goes to 2023 Open champion Brian Harman. He has six finishes in the top ten at this tournament since 2018 and is crying out to be supported each-way at 50/1 with BoyleSports to basically extend that trend At River Highland.
