Collingwood great to play on, ruckman signs fresh deal
Pendlebury, who has played 421 AFL games, is just 11 shy of the all-time VFL/AFL record of North Melbourne's retired legend Brent Harvey.
The 37-year-old Pendlebury has signed a one-year contract extension, while ruckman Darcy Cameron has inked a fresh three-year deal to remain at Collingwood until the end of 2029.
Pendlebury, a dual premiership Pie, six-time All Australian and former club captain, had been weighing up his future but will continue for a remarkable 21st season next year.
"Everyone throughout the league appreciates the influence and experience that Scott brings to our side," Collingwood's list manager Justin Leppitsch said in a statement on Monday."His professionalism is second to none, always ensuring he sets himself up to get the best out of himself and his teammates."In addition to his on-field contribution, it is the guidance he will provide his fellow teammates, setting the standards and embodying what it means to be a Collingwood person, that will be influential throughout our 2026 campaign and beyond."
Ruckman Cameron was contracted until the end of next season, but has signed an extension amid interest from rival clubs in the 30-year-old.
"Recommitting to Collingwood was an easy decision," Cameron said in a statement.
"This club means a lot to me and now feels like the right time to commit again.
"We have such a special group here, from the players to the coaches and all staff, and I can't wait to see what we achieve over the coming years."
Collingwood hold third spot ahead of a trip to Adelaide to play the ladder-leading Crows on Saturday night.

Fresh vision emerges of ‘inappropriate touching' during AFL match between Sydney and Brisbane
The AFL have concluded an investigation into a potential case of 'inappropriate touching' during Sydney's win over Brisbane. 7NEWS can reveal that Lions tall forward Henry Smith and Swans gun Nick Blakey were the players at the centre of the incident. It happened during the final minute of the first quarter when Blakey took a mark and fell to the ground with Smith in pursuit. Blakey was on the ground and Smith was standing over him as the star Swan reaches out and appears to make contact with Smith. Smith's foot then makes contact with Blakey, who reacts by pushing him away. The Lion then loses his footing and falls over. But as he is on the ground, he appears to reach out and make contact with Blakey's backside. The reverse angle of the incident, as revealed by 7NEWS in the player at the top of the page, was not seen as part of the match broadcast on the day. 7NEWS chief AFL reporter Mitch Cleary said the Swans, as well as Blakey, had no issue with the incident and did not issue a complaint. 'Both players and clubs were spoken to today and no further action will be required,' he said. 'The Swans stressing that neither the club or Blakey have any issue with the incident.' The AFL released a statement late on Monday confirming they will be taking no further action. 'Following enquiries by the AFL Integrity Unit into an incident during the Brisbane Lions and Sydney Swans match on Saturday, it has been determined that no further action is required,' the AFL said in a statement.

With two rounds left in the season and a deep finals campaign potentially ahead, Fyfe will finish as not only one of the most decorated players in the club's history but also one of the game's greats. 'Retiring has been a conversation that has been ongoing for probably the last 12 months with my family, my partner Bridget, my close circle, JL (Justin Longmuir), Joe Brierty and Simon Garlick,' Fyfe said in a statement. 'It just feels like it's the right time. 'I'm just immensely grateful for what my AFL experience and playing with Fremantle has given to me. The superstar midfielder has endured a torrid run in recent years as he battles injuries, but will be hoping to go out on a high as the club prepare for a deep September run. 'Nat's legacy at the Fremantle Football Club will live on forever,' Fremantle Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty said. 'What he has achieved over the span of his career, not only at an individual level but as a Club leader is something he should be immensely proud of,' Brierty said.
