PGIMER honours GMC, Jammu, principal & his team for best medicares to Pak shelling victims
Dr Ashutosh Gupta, principal dean, Government Medical College, Jammu, was honoured by PGIMER, Chandigarh, for his exemplary services and efficient coordination among doctors and para-medical amid recent war like situation, said officials.
PGI felicitated all medical teams which were sent to Jammu, Poonch and Rajouri during recent Indo-Pak conflict.
'All the doctors, who rendered services during the conflict, were honoured at a function held at PGIMER today,' said an official spokesperson.
In his address, Dr Gupta dedicated this achievement to the doctors and medical superintendents and nursing and paramedical staff of the institution, who remained available round the clock to provide tireless best comprehensive diagnostic, medical and surgical services to the needy.

Delhi CM: Over 330K registered under PM-JAY, Vay Vandana Yojana
Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta on Monday said that 330,369 beneficiaries have been registered under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), and 154,116 senior citizens have enrolled under the Vay Vandana Yojana since launch. She added that instructions have been issued to accelerate the registration process for the remaining eligible individuals. 'The government is actively working to further expand the reach of these initiatives. Under PM-JAY and Vay Vandana Yojana, all eligible beneficiaries can avail of treatment up to ₹10 lakh at empanelled hospitals,' Gupta said, adding that 729 citizens in Delhi have already availed of benefits under these schemes since launch. According to the CM, 83 hospitals in Delhi are currently empanelled under the schemes—59 private and 24 government-run. She also highlighted that patients requiring treatment not available in the city can access services at empanelled hospitals across India. Gupta further highlighted the government's commitment to enhancing awareness and accessibility to these health schemes, especially among vulnerable populations such as senior citizens.

Ludhiana: Fully vaccinated among COVID +ve patients, say officials
Most of the people found infected with COVID-19 in Ludhiana so far were fully vaccinated, with even the person who died of the infection last week having received a third shot, according to the local health officials. 'Most of the patients who have been found positive were vaccinated. In fact, the person who died last Wednesday had received three shots of the COVID-19 vaccination,' confirmed a senior health official on the condition of anonymity. However, There was no record on their history of having contracted the infection during the earlier waves. Ludhiana district so far makes the most of the cases reported in the state. At present there a nine active cases in the state and eight of these are here only. A man suffering from a co-morbid lung ailment died on Wednesday while he admitted to a Chandigarh hospital for treatment. He had shown serious symptoms on 23rd May and died on 28th May. Of the eight active cases, seven are confirmed to have been vaccinated. One of the latest cases include a 69-year-old lady, who is admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh. She, according to district epidemiologist Dr Sheetal Narang, was suffering from typhoid for last five months and had been visiting PGIMER Chandigarh regularly for last one month, which is where she could have contracted the infection. Her vaccination status was not confirmed. A family member of the patient, an 18-year-old boy was also found COVID positive, but he is asymptomatic and was also vaccinated. A 35-year-old OPD patient, who is three months pregnant and complained of having fever for last two days, also tested positive at the Civil Hospital on Monday. Dr Narang, however, said that she didn't have fever anymore and was asymptomatic. She was also vaccinated. Vaccine 'highly efficient': Docs State nodal officer for COVID-19 Dr Rajesh Bhaskar said that the vaccine was only 90-95% efficient and, in a few cases, even those with proper vaccination may end up contracting the virus. The efficacy of the vaccine, according to him, also depended on the level of antibodies present in the body which depend on how long back the person was vaccinated their history of infection. He noted that people in the vulnerable group, those above 60 and suffering from co-morbidities can voluntarily go for another short of vaccination if it has been over two-three years since their last short of the vaccine. For the rest he assured the vaccine was highly efficient despite the 5% of outliers. It is pertinent here to mention that of the five active cases in the district two are asymptomatic and the rest also only mildly symptomatic. Dr Rajesh Bhaskar said that the situation is very normal as of now and there was no reason to worry about and that any advisory wasn't required yet. No spike in testing reported Meanwhile, hospitals across the city have reported no spike in testing. Senior Medical Officer (SMO), Civil Hospital, Dr Harpreet Singh, said that the number of tests at the RT-PCR lab was no more than 18-20 daily. Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) and Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), two of the city's biggest hospitals, also reported no spike in testing so far.

Assam Health Minister Ashok Singhal reviews department's performance; issues directives to strengthen services in flood-affected areas
Dispur (Assam) [India] June 2 (ANI): Health and Family Welfare Minister Ashok Singhal on Monday reviewed the functioning of the Health and Family Welfare Department during a meeting held at the National Health Mission office in Guwahati, Assam. The meeting reviewed various aspects of the department's work, including implementation of schemes, infrastructure development and the delivery of health services, particularly in flood-affected areas. Minister Singhal emphasised the need for continuous health check-ups and the timely distribution of essential medicines in relief shelters. Singhal instructed doctors, nurses and health workers to remain fully alert to tackle the rise in waterborne and other infectious diseases during and after the floods. He also reviewed the department's efforts to control the spread of malaria in the Indo-Bhutan border areas of Kokrajhar and Chirang districts. During the meeting, the Minister identified several priority areas and issued directions for immediate action. He directed the department to establish a Fast Referral Unit (FRU) in each Assembly constituency to provide maternal, pediatric and emergency health services. He also instructed the Director of Ayush, Assam, to arrange regular yoga training sessions at every Ayushman Arogya Mandir as part of the Fit India Movement and to encourage community participation in health awareness initiatives. Minister Singhal stressed the importance of fully digitizing the administrative and information systems of the department to enhance efficiency and transparency. He asked officials to ensure the availability of essential medicines in every government hospital across the state. Additionally, he directed the department to conduct regular training and personality development programs for doctors, nurses, ASHA workers and all healthcare staff to improve the quality of service delivery. The meeting also included a detailed review of the current status of blood banks in the state, the progress of Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and Ayushman Assam, Mukhya Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AA-MMJAY) and precautionary measures to be taken in light of the recent rise in COVID-19 infections. Minister Singhal emphasised the need for a proactive and people-centric approach in delivering healthcare services, especially in times of crisis like the ongoing floods. The meeting was attended by senior officials including Commissioner & Secretaries Dr P Ashok Babu and Barnali Sharma, Commissioner & Secretary of Medical Education and Research Dr Siddharth Singh, Director of Health Services Dr Umesh Phangcho, Director of Health Services (Family Welfare) Kamaljit Talukdar and Executive Director of the National Health Mission, Assam, Dr Manoj Choudhury.
