ARNE SLOT admits nothing seems to be important at Liverpool following the death of striker Diogo Jota.
The champions return to action at Preston this afternoon, still mourning the loss of their Portuguese international forward ten days ago.

Jota, 28, and his brother Andre were killed in a car accident in Spain as they began their journey back to England for pre-season training.
Slot has spoken for the first time since the devastating news and says the club has to find a way to move on and start focussing on football again.
For now, he has told his players to be themselves as they come to terms with the sudden loss of their popular team-mate.
The Anfield boss said: 'Nothing seems to be important if we think of what has happened.
'But we are a football club and we need to train and we need to play again, if we want it or not.
'What I've said to the players, I can say it here as well. It's very difficult to find the right words because we constantly debate what is appropriate.
'What is appropriate in our actions? What is appropriate for what we have to say? Can we train again? Can we laugh again? Can we be angry if there's a wrong decision?
'And I've said to them, maybe the best thing for us to do is handle this situation like Jota was. And what I meant with that is that Jota was always himself.

'It didn't matter if he was talking to me, to his teammates, to the staff, he was always himself.
'So let us try to be ourselves as well. So, if we want to laugh we laugh, if we want to cry we're going to cry.
'If they want to train they can train, if they don't want to train they can not train. But be yourself, don't think you have to be different than your emotions tell you.'
Liverpool announced last week that they will retire Jota's No20 shirt in all their teams right across the club as a lasting tribute to him.
Slot has welcomed the move, saying: 'We will always carry him with us in our hearts, in our thoughts, wherever we go.
'Maybe especially in difficult moments but in any moment we are here, we will carry him with us in our thoughts and in our hearts.
'To retire his shirt is the one thing we could, should and have done.'
Slot and his wife Mirjam were among the thousands who have visited Anfield to pay their respects to Jota over the past few days.
And he said the fact the former Wolves forward had been through such an unforgettable few weeks gave him some solace in the dark days.
He said: 'What I take comfort in is that in the last month of his life he was a champion in everything.

'A champion for his family, which is the main and most important thing, because he got married.
'A champion for his country because he won the Nations League, [with] a country that he cared about so much.
'And of course a champion for us by winning the Premier League.'
The outpouring of emotion since Jota's death has only reinforced Slot's own bond with the club and supporters.
He said: 'In the title parade, it was only the Liverpool fans I assume. Now this time it was the complete city, it wasn't only Liverpool, it was also the Everton fans.
'And not only this city but also all around the country and in the world. To represent this club in this city now even means more to me and to my wife than it did before.'

Viktor Gyokeres is set to be reunited with his former Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim on Sunday when Arsenal travel to face Manchester United on the opening weekend of the Premier League Viktor Gyokeres insisted there were 'no hard feelings' when Ruben Amorim decided to abandon Sporting CP midway through last season. Amorim made the switch from the Jose Alvalade Stadium to Old Trafford in November last year while Sporting were still top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga. Gyokeres was left to spearhead the team without the manager that brought him to the club and, despite a rocky initial period, helped the side defend their league title and won the Taca de Portugal. Last month, Gyokeres followed his former boss to the Premier League, but opted to join rivals Arsenal over Amorim's Manchester United. The Swedish striker's £64million fee means he arrives with huge expectations to perform under Mikel Arteta as the Gunners look to go one better than their second-placed finishes over the past three seasons. As if Gyokeres' debut coming on Sunday against United at Old Trafford wasn't enough pressure, all eyes will be on his performance against the team and manager he effectively rejected. Amorim will know all too well of the threat the 27-year-old poses, as Gyokeres scored his first goal in an Arsenal shirt during the pre-season win over Athletic Club last weekend. And to make the two English giants' 2025/26 Premier League opener even more interesting, United have since signed former Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko. There is likely to be a warm embrace between Amorim and Gyokeres despite some Sporting players being upset by the manner of his departure last autumn. After United forked out £11m to release him from his contract, the 40-year-old tactician did not officially start at Old Trafford until 11 days later, remaining with the Portuguese side to oversee clashes against Estrela, Manchester City in the Champions League, and Braga. After a 4-2 comeback win in his farewell against Braga, wing-back Geny Catamo told Bar Da Liga the players were distraught that their manager was leaving after such a momentous victory, saying: "We were all celebrating in the locker room when he came in and announced he was indeed going to Manchester United. We were sad and cried. Most players cried. I believe I was one of those who cried the most that day." Gyokeres, though admitting his sadness upon hearing the news, made it clear that he didn't harbour any resentment towards the young manager leaving in an interview with SIC earlier this year. The striker said: "Of course, it was something that we, as a group of players, didn't want. Obviously, like you said, we were flying and winning every game in the league and doing well in the Champions League, too. "It was a sad moment, but we totally understood his decision and there were no hard feelings. We spoke to him. Everything was very clear and there were no hard feelings. "It was a difficult moment, but I think we all played a lot of games over a long period and then that kind of thing can happen. We've also changed coaches twice, we've had three different coaches. "Then you can change the way you train or the amount of training and of course that can affect the body. Yes, we tried to take the best out of the situation, it was a hard period, but we got through it and still finished top of the league." Gyokeres' comments came despite his agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, previously stating Amorim was the main reason his client joined Sporting two summers ago. Cetinkaya also revealed that a number of Premier League clubs were interested in signing the Sweden international last summer following his outstanding breakthrough season, but Gyokeres opted to stay due to Amorim remaining in charge. His soft stance on Amorim's exit may have also been a subtle indication that he was already planning his own exit, while his more distraught team-mates knew they'd be staying put. That, along with his agent's comments, mean it comes as no surprise that he too decided to leave this summer. Sunday's clash provides the perfect chance for both Amorim and Gyokeres to prove a point to one another.

Liverpool have held talks with Crystal Palace over signing Marc Guehi and Reds captain Virgil van Dijk has spoken out about the prospect of signing a new defender Virgil van Dijk has admitted that signing a new defender will "accelerate" Liverpool's improvement, with the Reds having held talks with Crystal Palace over a move for England international Marc Guehi. Liverpool earned a dramatic 4-2 win over Bournemouth in their Premier League opener on Friday thanks to two late strikes from Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah. However, their defensive performance came in for criticism and they also conceded twice to Crystal Palace in the Community Shield. Liverpool have signed a new defender, bringing in teenage prospect Giovanni Leoni from Parma, but BBC Sport are reporting that the club have also held initial talks with Palace about a move for Guehi. Palace are said to want around £40million for the centre-back, who is out of contract next summer, and Van Dijk was asked about the prospect of Liverpool signing a new defender after their win over Bournemouth. "You can say you have to accelerate it (improvement) but that is down to the market," Van Dijk said. "We have to focus on what's here and now. I think it (defensively) was much more improved than the last game but there is still work to do. "The manager already said we are playing with a right-back (Jeremie Frimpong) who came from the Bundesliga, is 24 years old and is trying to get used to how we defend, we play with Milos (Kerkez) who is a very young full-back, very eager and full of energy, who is trying to get used to the way we play. "It needs time, that's absolutely normal, but we also played without our six, Ryan Gravenberch, who missed out (with suspension). We have to keep working, that's the main thing, trying to keep clean sheets. "We conceded two goals in a transition moment where we have to do better. That's what we have to work on." Van Dijk's comments come after Palace chairman Steve Parish admitted they may be forced to sell Guehi this summer in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year. "We'd have to do that, of course," Parish said. "For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it's a problem for us unfortunately. Joachim [Andersen] went [to Fulham last summer] and we couldn't afford to lose both. "We then had another bid [for Guehi] in January but that was a different situation. Rangers spy delivers Club Brugge intel as specific threats to Champions League objective must be eliminated
There's a spot in the £40m league phase resting on the double header and Thomas Buffel reckons it's a tough one to call. Thomas Buffel will be back in Glasgow to catch up with some old team mates as Rangers tackle Club Brugge on Tuesday. He'll likely meet up with Barry Ferguson, Nacho Novo and Alex Rae amongst others ahead of sitting down for the first leg of the pressure pot play-off for a spot in the Champions League. Together the quartet were a key part of the Gers side that stormed to the last 16 of the competition under Alex McLeish 20 years ago - agonisingly crashing out to the La Liga side on away goals after a 2-2 draw at Ibrox was followed by a 1-1 draw in Spain. That run remains one of Buffel's career highlights. But times have changed, the competition has changed, and these days Rangers are doing well just to reach the main stage never mind the knockouts. A place in that league phase, worth £40m, is the prize on offer as Russell Martin's side take on Buffel's hometown club over the next 10 days. And while the 44-year-old might be born and bred in the Belgian town, a part of his heart still remains in Govan where he spent four seasons, winning a league and cup double in 2005. For that reason - or maybe it's more to do with his two spells at rivals Cercle Brugge - Buffel had no problem lifting the lid on the threat that faces Rangers come 8pm on Tuesday. He reckons the tie is too tight to call. But one thing is for sure - Rangers will need to be on their mettle in the wide areas. He told MailSport: 'I've not seen enough of Rangers this season under the new manager to say who I think will win. But it will be a close one I'm sure. 'I've seen more of Brugge. I saw the games against Genk and Salzburg, 'They like to play attacking football. They try to have a clear build-up with the wing-backs going high to pin the defence of the other team. 'Then they have the wingers coming inside between the lines. They have three midfielders with a lot of rotation to drive the ball and go deep. 'It's sometimes difficult to have a good press on them. If you are scared from the wing-backs going high and you go back with your own wingers, then they are going to sit deep also. 'If you don't have a good transition game then it's difficult to play against them.' The hype surrounding Brugge's Portuguese wide man Carlos Forbs hit new levels this week when captain Hans Vanaken claimed he's 'practically impossible to defend against'. That duo both netted in the last seven minutes as Brugge dramatically dumped RB Salzburg 4-2 on aggregate to set up the do-or-die double header with Rangers. And Buffel - who worked directly with striker Romero Vermont while Belgium U21 coach - said: 'The winger Forbs is a new player who has come from Ajax. 'He did quite a good job against Salzburg. He was fast but also without the ball he runs and you have Vanaken who can pass it through. 'They also have Christos Tzolis on the other side who has a good shot coming inside and dribbling and trying to find the far corner. You have to make sure you can block that. 'Then they have the striker Vermont, a young lad. 'I had him with my U21 team. He is a guy who works a lot and gives a lot of pressure. 'He can hold off a ball. He is not the one who is going to make a dribble on you but he can be clinical with a one touch finish. He is ruthless in that. 'He can come in front of his men and try to score. He is dangerous also. 'Brugge certainly have a lot of young talent throughout their squad. 'Of course the media will speak about the atmosphere of Ibrox and Scottish football. 'But actually if you have to compare a team in Belgium who also have these fanatic supporters and home crowds, it is also Brugge. 'Ibrox is still maybe a step higher but still I think they will not really be influenced by that I think. 'I'm actually coming over to watch the game. I'll hopefully see some friends, Nacho Novo, sometimes Barry is there and Alex Rae. 'I know the two sides drew 2-2 in a pre-season friendly. But I don't think too much can be read into that because both teams have changed quite a lot since.' Buffel left his position as manager of Jong Genk earlier this year and is looking for his next opportunity in coaching. But turning the clock back, he has fond memories of his playing days in Glasgow after signing from Feyenoord in 2005. He said: 'The Champions League qualification when I scored against Famagusta to qualify is one of my favourite memories. 'We reached the last 16, qualifying from a group that had Inter Milan and Porto and even against Villarreal in the last 16 we had chances to go further. We were so unlucky. 'But that year had magical nights at Ibrox and again when we saw the number of fans travelling to support the team. 'Also getting to the final of the UEFA Cup in 2008, that was great, although I didn't play too much because I was coming back from a double knee injury. 'I loved my time in Glasgow. That's why I like to go back and watch these big games.'
