Blueshirts Are Feeling The "Messier Effect" With J.T. Miller

Yahoo04-03-2025

They all laughed at Christopher Columbus when he said the world was round. They all laughed when Edison discovered sound.
They all laughed at The Maven when I said – when New York got him – that J.T. Miller would become the Rangers new Mark Messier.
Well, who's got the last laugh now? The Maven! Sean Avery, too. (See below for Sean)
Or, did you not see Mister Miller putting you in the mood last night during the 4-0 blanking of the Islanders at The Garden?
J.T. – as in Just Terrific – extended his point streak to six games – or five goals and five assists for ten points – which also can be translated into four wins in five games.
"The Rangers have taken care of the teams they had to beat," says The Old Scout. "The next big test is tomorrow at home against Washington. With the head of steam they've built, they're
in shape to knock off the elites."
Since it takes one to know one, it's worth digesting former Ranger Sean Avery's thoughts on J.T. Obviously S.A. and The Maven are on the same page.
"J.T. is proving why people should not listen to certain armchair general managers," tweeted Avery. "Miller is exactly the number one center the Rangers needed; not an Elias Petterson."
Then a pause: "It's all about what a team needs, not what will look good on paper."
GM Chris Drury has until Friday's Trade Deadline to determine what else – if anything – his Blueshirts require to nail down the coveted playoff berth.
Obviously with two straight shutouts, the Jonathan Quick-Igor Shesterkin combo is running on all cylinders, also carbs – with batteries also included.
But at a time like this, we must be realistic. J.T. Miller cannot do it alone; nor the goalies nor the energized kids.
And if Sleepy Time Guy Alexis Lafreniere still is with the team by the Trade Deadline, him too!
Ergo: If these Blueshirts all pull on the same rope, they'll cross The Finish Line and into Playoff Land!

Hartlepool United - favourites of broadcast legend Jeff Stelling - dropped out of the English Football League for the first time in 2017. They finished 10th in the National League last season and are managed by Anthony Limbrick after legend Lennie Lawrence stepped back. After an internal review, club chiefs opted to priorities loan deals over B team matches. Tickets for the Hartlepool match are priced at £12 for adults and £7 for concessions and can be purchased here. Hartlepool United will also play a Leeds United XI in a friendly with the Elland Road side and Rangers now sharing the same 49ers Enterprises owners. David Moyes 'eyes' Rangers transfer raid as 3 exits on cards with 49ers clearing space for mega summer overhaul

Mohamed Diomande is reportedly a summer transfer target for Everton, with the Premier League club in desperate need of reinforcements in midfield. Despite Rangers' struggles last season, the Ivorian enjoyed a decent campaign, scoring six goals and registering nine goals in all competitions. Advertisement The 23-year-old initially joined Gers on a loan deal from FC Nordsjælland in January 2024, with the transfer being made permanent for around £4million in the following summer. READ MORE: Dundee Utd owner predicts Rangers takeover will change the SPFL game and fix a 'touchy subject' for good READ MORE: Dave King makes one thing about new Rangers owners crystal clear as he has word of 'caution' for expectant fans But the Daily Express claim that Diomande is one of several players being eyed up by Toffees boss David Moyes. With veteran Abdoulaye Doucoure leaving the club on a dree transfer and loanee Orel Mangala heading back to Lyon at the end of his season-long loan, the Merseyside club are keen to bolster their options in the middle third of the pitch. Advertisement They also add that Diomande's versality also makes him appeal to Everton as a potential target, with the Ivory Coast international able to play as both a holding midfielder or in a more advanced role. Diomande will be very familiar to Rangers new sporting director Kevin Thelwell and technical director Dan Purdy, who have both made the move to Ibrox from Bramley Moor Dock as part of the new-look boardroom team assembled by 49ers Enterprises. And the Rangers number 10 isn't the only player who has been linked with a move away from the club in recent days. Centre back Robin Propper endured a tough debut season in Govan and reports in the Netherlands claim that he could be set for a return to FC Twente. Advertisement The 31-year-old was signed by Philippe Clement last summer to add some much-needed experience to the Light Blues back line but a combination of poor form and injuries meant that the Dutchman wasn't quite able to make the impact he would have hoped for. 49ers Enterprises takeover at Ibrox should give the new Rangers manager - which should be confirmed next week - more money to play with in the transfer market, but moving players on to balance the books will also be required. And claim that Twente - who Propper previously made 115 appearances for between 2021 and 2024, could be on his way back to the Netherlands. Turkey international Ridvan Yilmaz is another man who has an uncertain future in Glasgow. The 24-year-old made just 24 appearances in all competitions last season, with an injury picked up in the Europa League quarter-final defeat to Athletic Bilbao in April ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign. The left back has long been linked with a return to his homeland in recent months and Turkish outlet Aspor insist that a deal has been thrashed out to take him back to Besiktas, two years after he swapped them for Gers.

Rangers transfer latest as Birmingham stance on Davies and Dowell revealed and Hagi told his 'last option'

All the talk at Rangers is over the incoming next manager and the soon to be 49ers Enterprises takeover. But behind the scenes talk over players' futures will be well underway as planning kicks up a notch. Advertisement The Light Blues return to pre-season on June 23 with crucial Champions League qualifiers one month later - but will Ben Davies and Kieran Dowell be part of the plan? READ MORE: There might just be one Rangers manager candidate no one's talking about and it wouldn't surprise me if it came out soon READ MORE: 12 stars leave Aberdeen as Jimmy Thelin summer transfer drive kicks off with host of exits from Scottish Cup winners The Daily Mail report that Birmingham City - where both enjoyed English League One title glory - are willing to wait until a new manager is in and settled before asking about the duo. Advertisement They played key roles for the Blues' return to the English Championship with boss Chris Davies keen to turn the loan deals into full-time stays. The same report states City are still putting packages together for the duo - despite a decision being unlikely until a new head coach gets a look at the squad. But while they are willing to be patient they won't hang around forever as they line up alternative targets if they can't get the pair back on board at St Andrew's. Elsewhere, Ianis Hagi has been told a return to his native Romania should be his LAST resort this summer. The former Rangers playmaker can move on a free and speaking earlier in the week, Hagi himself confirmed he has received phone calls and will weigh up everything that is offered to him. Advertisement But Romania legend Ciprian Marica has told the media in his homeland that Spain would be perfect - despite his Alaves loan not working out - as he told Ianis what he must find in his next club. Ianis Hagi is on the hunt for a new club as he leaves Rangers He told "It would be the last option for me if I were Ianis, to go back home. That should be the last, last, last option. "His father has a football club. He could come back to Farul at any time. At home, the door is always open. I would try to stay out. "Ianis didn't seem to have the best chance in Spain. I see him playing in Spain. I think if there's an opportunity for him to go to Spain I see him playing there. Advertisement "Now, you have to have a coach. That's the most important thing about a team when you arrive. A coach who wants you. "If he wants you, then he forces you, puts you in, supports you. He comes after an injury, he needs the support of the club, to feel loved, to feel important. No matter how good you are mentally, you need a coach or a man to know that you can always lean on him. "It's important that he goes where the coach wants him to go. I really thought it wasn't easy, it's a delicate situation. "I hope with all my heart that he stays out, that he finds a team and a coach who believes in him. But the timing is not good at all."
