Eileen Fulton, ‘As the World Turns' soap star, dies at 91
Fulton died July 14 in Asheville, N.C., after a period of declining health, according to an obituary posted by Groce Funeral Home in North Carolina.
She would become one of the longest-serving soap opera actors, playing Lisa with only a few interruptions from 1960 until the show's end in 2010. Fulton played the character as a villain, telling The Times in 1990 that Lisa was initially 'a conniving, screaming witch' who 'lied and wanted everything her way,' a characterization that led fans to scorn her. Throughout the course of the show, Lisa was married eight times.
But over time, Lisa evolved and 'matured and learned from her mistakes.' Fulton said she began to receive 'love letters' from fans who admired the character's spunk.
Fulton was inducted into the Soap Opera Hall of Fame in 1998 and received a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
Fulton was born Margaret Elizabeth McLarty on Sept. 13, 1933 in Asheville. The daughter of a Methodist minister and a public school teacher, she graduated from Greensboro College in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in music and performed in an outdoor drama in North Carolina before moving to New York to pursue a career in acting, according to her obituary.
She later adopted the stage name Eileen Fulton, and in 1960, she was cast in the drama 'Girl of the Night.'
In addition to her soap opera career, Fulton had a cabaret act for years in New York and Los Angeles.
She retired in 2019 and moved to Black Mountain, N.C. She is survived by her brother, Charles Furman McLarty, a niece and other family members.

When do new episodes of ‘South Park' come out? See Season 27 schedule
Season 27 of 'South Park' started off with a bang this week after creating a firestorm of discussion and controversy involving no less than Satan and President Donald Trump. 'South Park' tore into Trump in its season premiere, at one point depicting him getting into bed naked with Satan. The episode also referenced the president's settlement agreement with Paramount (the show's boss), the '60 Minutes' saga, and the surprise cancellation of CBS's "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." Show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone came out with an 'apology' the day after, slyly saying, 'we're terribly sorry,' at Comedy Central's Comic-Con animation panel on July 24. The events came shortly after Paramount and the show's creators agreed on a 50-episode streaming deal on Paramount+. Following its blazing start, here is what to know about Season 27 of 'South Park." What is the 'South Park' Season 27 episode schedule? The new deal between "South Park" creators and Paramount included an agreement for the show to produce 10 episodes per year, multiple media outlets including Los Angeles Times and The Hollywood Reporter reported. CBS Cancels Beloved Series After Ten Seasons
It looks like CBS is making a big move with the decision to cancel one of their most beloved series that currently has as many as ten seasons under its belt. While it isn't always surprising for a network to cancel a series without much of a success, this is an announcement that comes as a complete shock. Additionally, the announcement confirms that the CBS series will come to an end in May 2026 following its run of ten seasons. This gives fans less than a year before the series comes to a close. The announcement was confirmed by the heads of Paramount and CBS. The unexpected news has generated quite a bit of controversy – with many fans also expressing disbelief. While some seem to understand the decision – others are vocally voicing their frustration – hoping that anything could save the show. As shared via Deadline: ' The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will end its historic run in May 2026 at the end of the broadcast season,' CBS brass said in a statement. 'We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire The Late Show franchise at that time. We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television.' The aforementioned brass includes Co-CEO Paramount Global and President and Chief Executive Officer of CBS George Cheeks, President of CBS Entertainment Amy Reisenbach, and President of CBS Studios David Stapf. As for host Stephen Colbert, he issued a statement of his own when sharing the news on a taping for the series: 'I'm not being replaced, this is all just going away,' confirming that The Late Show as a whole is coming to an end and not just his role as the host. To further confirm why the series is being canceled, CBS execs insist that it had nothing to do with the show's performance, but rather it was 'purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night.' They emphasize that it's 'not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.' As such, we'll have to see what this decision means for the network moving forward and where we'll see Stephen Colbert headed next. For now, however, it's a major hit against the late night schedule and other related shows that have been suffering as of late.

‘Eddington' actor Micheal Ward charged with rape and sexual assault in U.K.
British actor Micheal Ward, known for the Netflix series 'Top Boy' and and most recently Ari Aster's movie 'Eddington,' is facing charges of allegedly raping and sexually assaulting a woman in the United Kingdom in 2023. London's Metropolitan Police announced in a Friday statement that prosecutors had charged BAFTA winner Ward, 28, with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault following an investigation into an alleged January 2023 incident. The statement did not provide details about the incident, including the location and the identity of Ward's accuser. 'Our specialist officers continue to support the woman who has come forward — we know investigations of this nature can have significant impact on those who make reports,' Det. Supt. Scott Ware said in the statement. Representatives for Ward did not immediately respond to The Times' request for comment Friday. The actor is due to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court in London on Aug. 28. Ward, who was born in Jamaica, broke into acting less than a decade ago, appearing in the British drama series 'Top Boy' and rapper Rapman's 2019 film 'Blue Story.' He won BAFTA's rising star award in 2020. That same year he appeared in 'The Old Guard' opposite Charlize Theron and in Steve McQueen's 'Small Axe' miniseries. His movie credits also include Sam Mendes' 'Empire of Light,' 'The Book of Clarence,' 'Bob Marley: One Love' and 'The Beautiful Game.' He currently stars as a young police officer in 'Eddington,' the latest film from 'Hereditary' and 'Midsommar' filmmaker Aster.
