'I hired a nanny to teach him': Mother of Princess Beatrice's stepson Wolfie reveals the impressive skill he's mastered at just eight years old
Princess Beatrice's eight-year-old stepson, Wolfie, is already impressing those around him with his growing talents, most recently mastering the Chinese language to connect to his cultural roots.
His mother, architect and designer Dara Huang, revealed the news during an interview with London-based content creator World Microphone, saying Wolfie, whose full name is Christopher Woolf, has progressed so quickly that his fluency now surpasses her own.
"I have a son, he's eight years old," Huang said.
"Every year I throw him a big Chinese New Year's party. All his friends come over and they wear traditional Chinese outfits.
"His favourite things are bubble tea, noodles, and dumplings."
Huang added: "I hired a nanny to teach him Chinese. His Chinese is better than mine."
The 41-year-old, who was born and raised in Florida by Taiwanese parents, explained that preserving culture and identity is incredibly important in their family, particularly as Wolfie grows up with mixed heritage.
"When I was little my Dad always told me, 'You are in America, but you have an Asian face. You need to be more hardworking than everybody else'," she said.
"I think growing up Chinese in America is very hard. You have to pass down your identity and culture to your kids.
"He (Wolfie) has an Asian face, so he should speak and he should understand Chinese."
Huang's father, Po-Tien Huang, worked as a rocket scientist for NASA for more than four decades after relocating to the US.
Meanwhile, Dara went on to study at the University of Florida and Harvard before launching a successful architectural career that now includes celebrity clients such as Margot Robbie.
She met Wolfie's father, luxury property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, after moving to London in her mid-20s.
The couple dated for three years before welcoming their son in 2016 and becoming engaged.
After parting ways in 2018, Mapelli Mozzi, who is descended from Italian nobility, met and later married Princess Beatrice, with whom he now shares two daughters: Sienna, three, and five-month-old Athena.
It's understood that Dara, Edoardo, and Princess Beatrice maintain a cooperative co-parenting relationship, with Wolfie making regular appearances at royal family events.
Looking ahead, Huang said she plans to take her son to China this year to experience the culture firsthand, with visits scheduled for Shanghai, Beijing, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
"I want him to appreciate and absorb the culture," she said.
"You know, just to experience it all."
In addition to his bilingual talents, Huang also shared that Wolfie has a flair for painting, and that one of his artworks even sold for £40,000 (roughly AUD$80,000).
"I'm not sure I even told my client that it was done by a child," she told Tatler in January.
While they currently live in the UK, Huang said she still holds ties to the United States and has a residency in Florida.
She's even considering future schooling for Wolfie in America.
"England is known for its education because it's strict and regimented," she said.
"But I love the American spirit and that's something they don't really teach you here."
