Nomads part company with head coach Paynter
Nomads were beaten 2-0 at home by Barry Town United, who secured the seventh spot and a place in the play-offs.
Paynter, a former player with Leeds United, Port Vale and Swindon, was appointed in August 2024 on a two-year deal after the departure of Neil Gibson.
Nomads, who won the Welsh Cup last season and face The New Saints in this season's final next month, failed to make the top six for the second half of the season.
"The Club would like to put on record their gratitude to Billy, taking on the challenge in August at a very difficult transitional time for The Nomads," the club said in a statement.

Football club launches sticker book after relegation
A recently relegated football club has launched its own sticker book as part of efforts to reconnect with fans and the local community. Aberystwyth Town Football Club ended a 33-year run in Welsh football's top tier last season following relegation from the Cymru Premier. The sticker book "is a way for fans to get to know the players and hopefully improve relations", said Tomos Roberts, the club's director and treasurer. Fans will be able to buy stickers of first team coaches and players, while there is also a special section to celebrate players from previous seasons. After last season's relegation, the club said it recognised the "devastation" caused to fans, saying they were doing everything possible to gain promotion at the first attempt. Mr Roberts said the book was a "unique little idea", and that the practice of collecting stickers used to be "iconic". "We want to bring back the tradition," he said. He added the team had changed significantly for the season ahead in JD Cymru South. Mr Roberts said there "was no squad and no coach" at the beginning of May, and that "only four local guys have stayed with the squad from last year". They have signed 16 new players and made a good start to the season, winning both of their opening matches. "As there are so many new players, and as we have lost contact with the community - this sticker book is a way for the fans to get to know the players and improve relations," he said. Mr Roberts said the club had been unsure how people would respond but described the feedback as "fantastic". "Something like this has not been done for a while by a club," he added. He said he hoped the situation at the club would improve, adding the council had granted permission for the current stadium to be developed. "We have sold around 30 books so far, and they will be available until the end of the month," he added. Mr Roberts said if it is a success, the club will continue to publish the books next year and annually afterwards.

Ex-Wales and Liverpool defender Jones dies aged 70
Former Wales, Liverpool and Wrexham defender Joey Jones has died aged 70. The left-back, who won 72 caps for his country, had three spells with Wrexham in addition to stints with Liverpool, Chelsea and Huddersfield Town. He enjoyed a glittering three-year period with Liverpool - winning a First Division title, two European Cups, a Uefa Cup and a European Super Cup. The Reds' victory against Borussia Monchengladbach in Rome in 1977 saw him become the first Welshman to lift the European Cup. It led to fans creating a 24ft banner that read 'Joey ate the frogs legs, made the Swiss roll, now he's munching Gladbach'. Jones lifted the Welsh Cup in his first spell with Wrexham and helped Chelsea secure the Second Division title in 1983-84. He sits joint-15th alongside Mark Hughes in the list of most capped male players for Wales. The Llandudno-born left-back became Wrexham's record signing upon his first return to the club in 1978 and held the record until Ollie Palmer moved to the Stok Cae Ras in 2022. Jones retired from football in 1992 at the age of 37. A Wrexham statement read: "Wrexham AFC are devastated to learn of the passing of club legend Joey Jones, who sadly died in the early hours of this morning aged 70 after a battle with illness." The Championship club announced plans to commemorate Jones by commissioning a statue to be placed in the public plaza outside the Stok Cae Ras' Kop Stand. Paying tribute on X, his great friend and former Wales, Wrexham and Chelsea team-mate Mickey Thomas wrote on X: "This morning I lost my best friend and soulmate, Sir Joey, our memories will never fade. "Today my heart is broken. Love you Sir Joey RIP. My condolences are with Janice and all the family." Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge said: "More sad news folks, Joey Jones passed away last night. "What a lovely man and an inspirational full back who gave his heart and soul in a red shirt and for all the clubs he played for! "Our thoughts are with Joey's family! I'm a lucky man to have met him many times. YNWA [You'll Never Walk Alone] RIP top man." Football Association of Wales chief executive Noel Mooney said: "Everyone in Welsh football was sorry to hear of the passing of Joey Jones - @Wrexham_AFC @Cymru legend. Loved by many. Haverfordwest trail the Maltese side 2-1 heading into Thursday's first qualifying round second leg at Parc y Scarlets (18:00 BST). "But we go into the game with a lot of confidence because we competed well with them in the first leg. "We went into that game not really knowing what we were up against, whereas now we know a bit more about the opposition. The boys should definitely take confidence from the first game."
