Tony Robinson: ‘People are supposed to say 'I have no regrets' – but I do'

How do famous names spend their precious downtime? In our weekly My Saturday column, celebrities reveal their weekend virtues and vices. This week: Tony Robinson
7am
I'll write. I've been immersed in my new book, The House of Wolf. It's like steel shutters being slammed down, and I concentrate on what I'm doing, regardless of what's going on around me. I was an only child – my parents doted on me and were always talking to me, but I wasn't listening as I was always doing something else. My mum took me to an ear specialist because she thought I was deaf.
9am
A slow-burn breakfast because I don't want to eat again until evening. Microwaved porridge, zero-fat yogurt, and blueberries and raspberries decorating it in a pyramid, so you can't see the boringness of the porridge underneath.
10am
I drive to see my granddaughters, who are 16 and 13, play football. It's one of the most exciting new things in my life. Women's football has exploded exponentially. If you watch boys' football, from about age 13, you could cut the ambition with a knife. With girls, there's a whole different spirit about it. I shout praise, which might be embarrassing for them to receive from a 78-year-old man, but I would say, honestly, it's when I'm at my happiest.
12pm
Down the M4 to watch Bristol City. They're an extraordinary football team. Every year for the past 10 years – and I think I'm only slightly exaggerating here – they have come between 11th and 13th in the Championship, so a really exciting year is when they come 11th and a really depressing year is when they come 13th. This is not what most football supporters see as excitement. At the moment, it looks like we may make the play-offs this year, and consequently I'm in seventh heaven.
5pm
Back to west London, listening to the radio. There's been a real renaissance of Radio 4, the imagination of the programmes is great. It could be a show about Ray Charles's childhood, then 'Who's best, Aristotle or Plato?' followed by a documentary about tap dancers with disabilities. If I'm part-way through a programme and get home, I sit in the car until it finishes.
7pm
I'll read scripts, like the ones for The Madame Blanc Mysteries [Thursdays at 9pm on Channel 5; or streaming on channel5.com]. In fact I didn't even need to look at the script at first, I just thought, '[Co-creator] Sally Lindsay is lovely and it's filmed in Gozo,' but then I read it and it was fantastic. I had a cameo role that turned into a whole series this time. As an actor, the length of your employment is normally so short that there's always part of you thinking, 'How am I going to pay the phone bill?'
8pm
My wife and I always have Saturday evenings together; I can't remember the last time we didn't. I've been cavalier in my relationships as far as time is concerned – I think people are supposed to say, 'I have no regrets,' but I do. I wish I'd had the integrity to spend more time with partners. Sometimes you've got nine things on the go and the one you can put at the bottom of the list is your partner, but it's so damaging.
8.30pm
Around 60 paces from home, we have an Everyman cinema, which knocks every other cinema experience into a corner. I feel like a little boy living next to a sweet shop. The last thing we enjoyed was the Bob Dylan movie [ A Complete Unknown ]. I'd have thought that, as an actor, I would recognise great actors, but I've never particularly noticed Timothée Chalamet is the truth. He is stunning in it.
11.13pm
I turn to my wife and say, 'I'm thinking about going to bed,' and when we look at our watches, it is always 13 minutes past 11. In the middle of the night, I get up, go to my study and write down notes or plot ideas – 'his sister kills him', 'buy choc ices', 'get a new razor'…

Donald Trump leaves UFC Champion Kayla Harrison in shock with intimate gesture after president watched on

President Donald Trump left UFC star Kayla Harrison in shock by kissing her on the cheek moments after she became a world champion with the promotion for the first time on Saturday night. Harrison tapped out Julianna Pena at UFC 316 to win the women's bantamweight championship with the Commander in Chief and daughter Ivanka Trump sitting cage-side for the bout. After exiting the Octagon, the president and his team were situated on the walk back to the locker rooms in New Jersey. The new champion walks over to Trump for a handshake, then a hug, with the 47th President then planting a smooch on her right cheek. Harrison, 34, did not look disgusted at the intimate act at the 78-year-old. Instead, feet from Trump's good friend and UFC owner Dana White, the former judoka looked honored. Also while posing for a photo, Trump again wrapped his arms around Harrison, including putting his left hand on her exposed stomach. Post-kiss and before she departed the arena, Harrison put her new belt over Trump's shoulder while the duo pointed at each other to get cheers from the crowd. When entering the arena, Trump took a moment to shake hands with podcasters and former Tennessee Titans teammates Will Compton and Taylor Lewan before taking his seat, feet from the action. Trump's son Eric and son-in-law Jared Kushner were also on hand, as was US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. At one point the elder Trump and Rubio were seen sharing a fist bump while grinning into a nearby camera. As always, UFC fans and fighters were excited to see Trump, who was showered with applause and later got a high five from Kevin Holland after his submission victory against fellow welterweight Vicente Luque. Trump last attended a UFC event in April in Miami alongside billionaire Elon Musk, but the President's relationship with his biggest donor has changed considerably since then. On Saturday, if he was to start bankrolling Democratic candidates. Their relationship disintegrated earlier this week as the former allies battled it out on social media after disagreeing on Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill.' The title fight in Newark was only Harrison's third fight with the promotion, as the two-time Olympic gold medalist quickly climbed the rankings.

Good Boy – K-drama Episode 3 Recap & Review

Episode 3 Episode 3 of Good Boy begins with Han-na's story, where she's about to compete in another championship and set a record. However, at a crucial moment, her long hair comes loose and distracts her, causing her to lose focus. The scene shifts to Dong-ju, who comes across Ju-young at the customs office and ends up creating a scene until he's reported. Back at the station, Dong-ju tries to explain that Min Ju-young is the culprit behind the hit-and-run case, but without proof, he has nothing more to say. This is when Jong-hyeon arrives, and the two end up sparring, with Jong-hyeon winning the challenge and revealing that he'd practiced Taekwondo from a young age. While the officers are out, Gyeong-il's arrest makes the news. Dong-ju visits his mother, who believes he'll be released soon once the real killer is caught. This motivates Dong-ju to investigate the imported car Ju-young had used the night of the murder. Meanwhile, Jong-hyeon learns that Gyeong-il's case is being transferred to a new prosecutor, his own brother. From their interactions, it's clear there's bad blood between the two. Elsewhere, Dong-ju tries to convince Gyeong-il to let the truth come out, but to no avail. In the background, Ju-young orders a prison guard to kill Gyeong-il. The next day, Dong-ju finds out that Gyeong-il has died, his death staged as a suicide. The police find the prison guard's watch at the scene. Following this, Gyeong-il's mother cuts ties with Dong-ju as well. In a fit of rage, Dong-ju visits Ju-young and attacks him, throwing punch after punch. Dong-ju then refuses to do anything Ju-young had previously demanded in exchange for dropping the case. In the meantime, Han-na, who had sent in her resignation, finds a watch similar to Ju-young's in her father's belongings. We learn that her father had been in the police force as well. She visits a pawn shop where the owner tells her the watch is a limited edition used by a powerful and notorious smuggler, but he's unsure whether hers is genuine. After Ju-young gets rid of the prison guard for doing a sloppy job, which led to Dong-ju identifying him, he realizes someone has been going through the documents and suspects Han-na might be a risk to his empire. Back in his room, we find out that Gyeong-il had been a competitor of Dong-ju's, and it had been during a sparring match with Dong-ju that he was injured. He had never been Dong-ju's brother. The next day, a real estate agent visits Han-na's house, where she discovers that her mother, who works as an insurance agent, has listed her father's house to pay off her debt. We also learn that her mother had been the reason behind Han-na's loss of focus on the day of her championship; she'd been busy fixing advertisements. That same day, Han-na had suffered from a long-term illness as well. After walking out of the police station, Han-na collapses, only to be caught just in time by Dong-ju. Meanwhile, Jong-hyeon finds out that someone has been searching for Han-na's details at the police station. After talking to Han-na, and after she returns the medal Dong-ju had pawned, Dong-ju resumes copying the book he needs to complete in order to prevent Ju-young from suing him. The next day, Han-na retracts her resignation, and Jong-hyeon joins the team to protect her from the growing threat. Later, Dong-ju breaks into the customs office and confronts Ju-young, warning him that he's coming for him. The episode ends there. The Episode Review With every episode, Good Boy is turning out to be a tonal mess, with too many genres overlapping within the same storyline. Not only that, the main characters' personas clash, and apart from Dong-ju, no other character is given significant weight in the narrative. As a result, the rest of the characters often fade into the background. The comic timing and exhilarating action scenes that had been keeping the show alive in the past two episodes have now taken a backseat. In their absence, the weaknesses in the plot and storytelling come to the forefront. Since Good Boy hinges on a weak and underdeveloped plotline, much of the episode feels disconnected and trivial. The characters themselves are painted with a shallow hand, their traumas don't land emotionally and feel trivial, mostly because the episode doesn't give enough time for those experiences to develop or breathe. Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's furious row that 'ripped the monarchy to pieces'

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton were said to have had a furious row during a clear-the-air meeting in 2018 A Royal expert has described a crucial meeting between Prince William, Prince Harry, Kate and Meghan as an event that "ripped the monarchy to pieces". The explosive encounter reportedly took place in June 2018 when the Prince and Princess of Wales sat down with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex amid rising tensions after Harry and Meghan's wedding. The situation escalated post-ceremony, as recounted in Prince Harry's memoir 'Spare', who cited early turbulence involving his wife and his sister-in-law. He detailed a dispute concerning bridesmaid dresses prior to his wedding which purportedly left Meghan in tears, mentioning that Kate "grimaced" when Meghan used her lip gloss. ‌ In an effort to resolve matters, both couples convened for a candid discussion after the Sussexes returned from their honeymoon. The atmosphere during the chat reportedly grew so fraught that it caused physical signs of distress in the Princess of Wales. ‌ According to Harry's depiction in 'Spare', the intense air-clearing session at Kensington Palace saw Kate demand an apology from Meghan while clenching a leather sofa, which saw her "fingers turn white". Harry detailed in 'Spare' that Kate's request stemmed from a comment Meghan made about her pregnancy hormones, referring to it as "baby brain". Meghan apparently offered her apologies, justifying the contentious remark as commonplace amongst her circle of friends, reports the Mirror. The situation escalated when Harry alleged that William "pointed a finger at Meg", and reportedly admonished: "Well, it's rude, Meghan. These things are not done here." Harry claims Meghan retorted: "If you don't mind, keep your finger out of my face." ‌ In the new Channel 5 documentary 'Meghan vs Kate: The Meeting That Changed the Monarchy', Royal commentators suggest this encounter was pivotal for the Sussexes, setting in motion their eventual departure from Royal duties. Richard Kay of the Daily Mail posited that this was the moment "the seed of Megxit was sewn", while his colleague Sarah Hewson reflected: "Had that meeting been a success, had they been able to put their differences aside, things would have been very different indeed." Newsweek's chief Royal correspondent Jack Royston commented: "If only they'd listened. If Meghan had listened to what was being said to her, she could have changed way back in 2018. ‌ "And even if they had still quit the monarchy, they could have saved themselves so much pain and so much conflict." He went on: "What happened in that room back in June 2018 was the defining element of the relationship between the two couples that ripped the monarchy to pieces." ‌ Valentine Low, a noted Royal author, also remarked: "They had pathetic little differences that should have been sorted out in two minutes. But it helped fuel the flames." Harry's candid reflections in his memoir 'Spare' come as Meghan shared her experiences with the royals on their Netflix series. Recounting their earliest encounters, she expressed surprise at the private formality of the Royal family members. ‌ In the second instalment of their six-part Netflix documentary, 'Harry and Meghan', the Duchess discussed her first impressions of her brother-in-law and wife Kate. "When Will and Kate came over, and I met her for the first time, they came over for dinner, I remember I was in ripped jeans and I was barefoot," Meghan explained. ‌ "I was a hugger. I've always been a hugger, I didn't realise that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits." The mother-of-two elaborated further on the Royal customs saying: "I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside. "There is a forward-facing way of being, and then you close the door and go 'You can relax now', but that formality carries over on both sides. And that was surprising to me."
