
Mastermind behind police attack yet to be nabbed
Ranchi: The mastermind behind the attack on the policemen at Koinara village under the Lapung police station area, some 40 km away from the Ranchi district headquarters, is still absconding.
A mob attacked the policemen with sticks and sharp weapons on Tuesday, when they arrived in the village to oversee the law and order situation which was disrupted over a land dispute between two groups. No arrests were made in connection with the incident till filing of this report.
Two policemen, including the in-charge of the Lapung police station, Santosh Kumar Yadav are undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Ranchi. Two other personnel were discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
Ranchi (rural) SP Praveen Pushkar said that the mastermind who has Naxalite link and incited the violence is currently on the run. "Police have been trying to trace him," SP said. The situation is under control now, he added. TNN

Eid-ul-Zuha: Holiday for edu instts today, tomorrow; govt offices to function today
T'puram: The govt has declared holiday for all educational institutions in the state, including professional colleges, on Friday and Saturday owing to Eid-ul-Zuha. However, no holiday has been declared for govt offices on Friday as the govt has rescheduled the Bakrid holiday to Saturday, June 7, in accordance with the revised date of the festival. IMC files FIR against man for comments on social media
Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Thursday filed a First Information Report (FIR) against an individual for allegedly making 'abusive comments' and creating a reel on Instagram that 'damaged the image' of the civic body. The FIR was registered at the MIG police station under section 296 of BNS. The action was initiated under the directives of IMC commissioner Shivam Verma. According to the additional commissioner Lata Agrawal, IMC, in collaboration with the traffic police administration, conducted a joint operation to address illegal parking on both sides of the road from LIG Chouraha to Pardesipura Kalash Chouraha. The aim was to ensure smooth traffic flow on this particular stretch. During this operation, Vivek, using his Instagram ID, allegedly created a reel containing 'abusive comments' against the IMC's actions and used offensive language towards the municipal administration. Following this incident, and acting on Verma's instructions, Agrawal filed the FIR against the accused at the MIG police station. Section 296 of BNS deals with obscene acts and songs in public places. TNN
