Since winning the Scottish Album Of The Year award in 2015 for her debut record, Kathryn Joseph's music has evolved from intimate and delicate to something altogether more intense, skilfully combining raw emotion with piano, keyboards and electronic elements. Joined by longtime collaborator Lomond Campbell, Joseph ventures into darker, more experimental territory, marking a pivotal shift in her artistry. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Returning to the Edinburgh International Festival on 9th August after her acclaimed 2021 performance, she invites fans into a space where vulnerability and beauty collide in profoundly moving music. Kathryn Joseph New album We were made prey dances on the knife-edge: of action versus inaction, of want versus wanting, of self-fulfilment versus shame. Continuing her creative partnership withproducer Lomond Campbell, recording took place in the remote Black Bay Studios on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides last winter. Joseph's fourth long-player is both a reaction to and reprieve for the animal within. Eleven songs that accept her whole being, with all its hunger, lust and rage, and its devastating tenderness too. Through her hunt for answers to punishing choices, 'the kind that can absolutely f**k up your life,' the Glasgow-based singer-songwriter has come out the other side with something new to say. Joseph's pursuit of truth is the red thread that winds through each of her albums. It's there among the agonising beauty of bones you have thrown me and blood i have spilled, her Scottish Album of the Year Award-winning debut. It's there, too, in 2018's from when i wake the want is, sewn into the primal grief and grasping of the songs. And it made its presence felt again in 2022's for you who are the wronged, her powerful exploration of abuse in all its twisted shapes and guises, acclaimed for its 'luminous brand of minimalism' (Pitchfork) and as 'an outright masterpiece of emptiness and full-to-bursting-ness at the same time' (The Quietus). Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Joseph has also just announced a full UK headline tour for autumn 2025, taking in 12 dates across England to follow her Edinburgh International Festival appearance. In between, she will return to the road in support of labelmates (and bosses) Mogwai for a run of European shows in August-September. Lomond Campbell will be performing with Joseph at all shows. Andy Murray ditches granny's shortbread to become brand ambassador for rival
The Scots tennis icon has been announced as the first-ever brand ambassador for Walker's Shortbread - despite his gran being famous for her own sweet treats Sir Andy Murray could be in a spot of bother with his own granny – after he was named as brand ambassador for a shortbread firm, despite her own famous version of the biscuits. The Dunblane tennis icon has been announced as the first-ever brand ambassador for Walker's Shortbread. But the Wimbledon champ's own gran, Shirley Erskine, has often hit the headlines herself with her legendary shortbread. Her recipe has even featured in a special's Mother's Day recipe book created in support of Scottish charity Mary's Meals. The sweet treat was also a big hit with fellow contestants, pro dancers and judges when Shirley's daughter – Andy's mum Judy Murray – took part in 'Strictly Come Dancing'. Shirley even took along a tin when invited on to Mrs Brown's Saturday night chat show and made a tin which went all the way to Wimbledon in exchange for a £100 donation to the local Dunblane Centre. Shirley has even been known to serve up a baking masterclass to local schoolchildren to teach them how to make the traditional Scottish biscuit. Announcing the new partnership, Walker's Shortbread said the former Olympic champ had penned a multi-year partnership with the Moray-based firm. On the deal, Andy said: 'I'm proudly Scottish, and partnering with Walker's, a brand that has been representing Scotland around the world for well over a century, felt like a great fit for me. 'I come from a small tight-knit community and when I look back at where I have come from, I am proud of what I've achieved, which is something I share with Walker's. 'It's a real honour to be part of this next chapter for such a well-loved Scottish brand.' With 46 tour titles under his belt and three Grand Slam victories – the two-time Olympic Gold Medal winner, and self-proclaimed shortbread superfan, added: 'I've been eating shortbread since I was a kid – my gran would make it all the time for us. We even celebrated my Wimbledon win with shortbread. 'Shortbread is one of my simple pleasures. No matter where I am in the world, a piece of Walker's Shortbread always transports me back home.' The partnership also pays homage to Walker's own history with tennis. Winne Walker, mother of the late Joe, Marjorie and Sir Jim Walker, was a passionate tennis enthusiast who played a pivotal role in the local tennis community. Inspired by her love for the sport, which began during her university years, Winnie was instrumental in establishing the first tennis courts at Aberlour Tennis Club. Nicky Walker, Managing Director, Walker's Shortbread: 'We are incredibly excited to welcome Andy Murray as our very first brand ambassador. We've always admired Andy's achievements, his dedication and his cautious charisma as well as his very obvious close relationship with his own family. These are qualities that resonate deeply with our own values at Walker's Shortbread. We are genuinely honoured that Andy and his team have acknowledged Walker's as a suitable partner, and we are looking forward to this exciting new venture as we continue to promote 'Scotland at its Finest'.' The deal will see Andy featured in the firm's latest advertising campaign – where his image will appear at train stations across the UK.

Love Island's Meg in furious clash as tensions reach new heights in villa
Love Island star Meg has found herself embroiled in a bitter feud with Malisha after the bombshell from Broxbourne waltzed into the villa on Friday with her eyes firmly set on Meg's man The drama is set to continue in the Love Island villa tonight as things get heated again between Meg and Malisha in the garden and as Alima comforts Malisha in the dressing room. After hearing her side, Alima has some thoughts on the situation, heading out to the kitchen to tell Meg and the group: 'I'm not gonna lie, that wasn't nice to see both of you, all the shouting…let's be nice to people.' Meg then says: 'I said [to Malisha] I don't want you to feel like this, you're now mugging me off and being disrespectful - I don't want to argue with her.' Sharing her thoughts on the situation, Shakira adds: 'I don't think she [Malisha] was being disrespectful going to the Hideaway.' To which Meg hits back: 'That's your opinion, not mine.' Meanwhile that evening, Toni and Conor debrief about where they stand and more importantly where he stands with new bombshell Emily. Toni tells him: "I think you know I have eyes for you, out of the three girls that came in last night, she's [Emily] obviously a sweetheart. I think her and I are very different. Are you looking for a sweet, mild girl or someone like me?' The next day, Meg is keen to bury the hatchet and pulls Malisha for another chat. Meg says: 'Third time lucky, we're gonna get it right this time…' It comes as Love Island viewers believe they have rumbled Meg's game plan amid the high tensions in the villa. Things have been heating up in the Love Island villa thanks to the arrival of the three bombshells on Friday night. The three bombshells include 24-year-old teaching assistant Malisha from Broxbourne, Commercial Banking Executive Yasmin, 24, and Insurance Development Executive Emily, 24, from Aberdeen. The boys left the villa earlier in the day for drinks, but what they didn't know was that the girls would be watching their every move on a giant TV back in the main villa. Meg particularly struggled watching the boys chat to the girls, with her even being branded "mean". She hit out at the bombshells and threw insults at them, including going as far as calling one of them a "b***h." Her behaviour didn't go unnoticed by fans at home as they believed they cracked why she was acting in that way. One fan shared: "Meg doesn't fancy him, she's just worried about her place in the villa." Another added: "Meg cannot convince me that she is into Dejon. He is just an easy option at the moment." "Like Meg your doing all this huffing and puffing for a guy you probably don't even really like," shared another. Someone else quipped: "meg isn't acting like this because she likes dejon SOOO much btw, she doesn't wanna get embarrassed and she doesn't wanna get dumped, i know her game." Shortly after they all established where they stood in their relationship, three new bombshells entered and caused a stir for the girls watching. They then headed off on one-on-one dates with three of the boys as the original girls watched on. Tensions rose once again when they boys and the bombshells returned to the villa where they discovered they had been watched the whole time. And it looks like tensions are only going to continue to grow in the villa from here on out.... LOVE ISLAND CONTINUES TONIGHT AT 9PM ON ITV2 AND ITVX.
