Karnal: CM Saini, Ramdev among 1 lakh to be part of state-level Yoga Day celebrations
Addressing a press conference, Sudha said that all preparations have been made for the event, where more than 1 lakh participants from Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haryana Yoga Aayog and various institutions of the district will take part in this yoga programme.Similarly, DC Neha Singh said that for the programme, the Brahmasarovar complex has been divided into 64 sectors and the fairground into 37 sectors, 1,000 participants will do yoga in each sector.
'A yoga instructor, Patanjali member, policeman, administrative nodal officer, volunteer will be present in each sector, while 31 LED screens have been installed to connect all the participants with the yoga programme, out of which 20 have been installed in the Brahmasarovar complex and 11 in the fairground. 37,000 school students, staff and family members will participate in the yoga program, 40,000 participants will come from Patanjali Yogpeeth and Haryana Yoga Commission and apart from this, about 25,000 people will come from various institutions of the city,' she said.
The DC further said that a temporary arrangement of 100 mobile toilets has been made at the event venue and apart from this, more than 20 permanent toilets are also located around various ghats in the Brahmasarovar complex.
'Live telecast arrangements have been made to broadcast the programme live and to connect with the programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Photography-videography will be done with drone cameras at the yoga event venue. Media center has been set up in the auditorium of the KDB office located at Brahmasarovar. Parking arrangements have been made near Kurukshetra University,' she added.
SP Nitish Aggarwal said that atleast 2,000 cops from neighbouring districts have been deployed on duty and several CCTV cameras have also been installed.

The chief minister was addressing a gathering at Panchjanya Auditorium in Mathura and reiterated the commitment of the double engine government for purity of Yamuna and its uninterrupted flow. He claimed that the world was looking up to India's spiritual wisdom for sustainable peace. 'The spirit of Shri Krishna's selfless karma is our power, making us invincible. I bow countless times to this holy land. Guided by the teachings of Lord Krishna, Uttar Pradesh is scripting a success story,' the chief minister claimed. 'The world is eager to study India's spiritual heritage, which, in times of global crises, offers the path to lasting peace and harmony,' he said. Talking about a new master plan of ₹30,000 crore for the holistic development of the Braj region, he said that this plan will connect pilgrimage sites like Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, and Gokul with the memories of Dwapar Yuga. He said, 'Our government is committed to respecting the sentiments of revered saints and enriching the Braj region. We are making possible the works which were once considered impossible. 'In Kashi, where earlier not even 50 devotees could visit together, now 50,000 devotees can have darshan at once. In Ayodhya, the grand Ram Temple is reviving the memories of Treta Yuga. Similarly, a grand corridor has also been completed at Vindhyavasini Dham,' the CM claimed. Citing the purity and consistent flow of the Ganga, he said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ganga has today become worthy for bathing and rituals. He said, 'In the 2019 Prayagraj Kumbh, 67 crore devotees took a holy dip. Similarly, the double-engine government is working with full honesty for the uninterrupted flow and purity of Yamuna.' He also mentioned the ropeway facility in Barsana, calling it a great relief for the elderly. He said, 'This is the benefit of development, that we are continuously working for the convenience and safety of devotees'. Remembering the purpose of Lord Shri Krishna's incarnation, he said that he took birth to safeguard the virtuous and to destroy evil. He turned the battlefield into a land of Dharma. Yogi said, 'The inspiration of Shri Krishna's selfless actions gives us strength. As long as this inspiration remains among us, no one can harm us.' The chief minister noted that India has completed 78 years of independence and highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of new resolutions for the centenary in 2047. Referring to the recent 24-hour discussion in the UP Assembly, he said society and government must work together to make Uttar Pradesh prosperous and developed by 2047. The CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 118 development projects worth ₹646 crore for Mathura-Vrindavan. These included the inauguration of 80 projects worth about ₹273 crore, and the foundation laying of 38 projects worth ₹373 crores. These projects include beautification of Parikrama paths, entrance gates, restoration of kunds facilities for devotees, connectivity, water conservation, and environmental protection. He described the bhajans, kirtans, and Shri Krishna lilas organised in the Panchjanya Auditorium as part of the devotional atmosphere. On this occasion, the chief minister greeted children dressed as Krishna, lifting them in his arms, and fed them kheer and performed their annaprashan. During the ceremony, a documentary film, prepared by Shruti Anandita Verma, based on the glory of the Govardhan Parikrama, was screened.

The chief minister was addressing a gathering of devotees at Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura on Saturday. He arrived at the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi around 11:50 am, offered prayers to Thakur Keshavdev and Mata Yogmaya, followed by a pooja at the Shri Krishna Chabutra inside the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi. After visiting Bhagwat Bhawan, he addressed the devotees chanting 'Vrindavan Bihari Lal ki Jai' and 'Jai Shri Radhe,' as the premises reverberated with devotional echoes. He extended greetings on the occasion of Janmasthmi, a festival celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Krishna in Mathura, and said that Braj Bhoomi is the land of Lord Vishnu's complete incarnation as Lord Krishna and his divine Leelas. At Krishna Janmabhoomi, CM Yogi extended Janmashtami greetings to believers of Sanatan Dharma all over the world and called for its protection. He urged people to walk Dharma's path and work for the nation's welfare. 'There is a need to preserve Sanatan heritage alongside modern development and this is what our double engine government, both at the centre and state, are working for,' claimed Yogi Adityanath. 'For the past eight years, I had the privilege of participating in Janmashtami celebrations and Barsana's Rangotsav. Our government is committed to restoring the glory of Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, Gokul, Baldev, Govardhan, and Radha Kund, and developing them as global pilgrimage destinations,' he claimed. He said that efforts are being made to provide better facilities to devotees. Extending greetings on the 5252nd birth anniversary of Shri Krishna, the CM said that it was the good fortune of Uttar Pradesh that several incarnations of the Lord have sanctified this land. From Ayodhya to Mathura, he noted, these places stand as enduring symbols of India's spiritual heritage. In his address, the chief minister stressed the importance of cow protection, describing 'Gaumata' as a symbol of Sanatan Dharma. He said his government is ensuring the care of destitute cattle and providing ₹1,500 per month to farmers who rear cows, with over 1.6 million cows currently being protected. Urging people to guard against divisive tendencies of caste, region, or language, he called for honouring soldiers at the borders and fostering social unity. 'As long as the flag of Sanatan Dharma guides the world, the values of universal brotherhood, peace, and harmony will endure,' he said. He referred to Prime Minister Modi's 'Panch Pran,' which includes eradicating the remnants of slavery, adopting Swadeshi as a way of life, preserving heritage, honouring soldiers, and fostering social unity. He also noted that the corridor at Vindhyavasini Dham is now attracting large numbers of devotees. He praised the Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad for driving the development of the Braj region under the guidance of public representatives, saying it is 'our duty to link this 5,000-year-old heritage with modern progress'. Addressing devotees, he also urged them to remain vigilant against negative forces that seek to weaken the country. The CM emphasised the need to respect the symbols of Sanatan Dharma, including rivers like the Ganga and Yamuna, Gaumata, Gayatri, and sacred pilgrimage sites, saying they are integral to the nation's identity and their preservation is the shared responsibility of the citizens.

NCERT special module says Jinnah, Congress, Mountbatten 'culprits' of India's partition
A special module released by the NCERT to mark "Partition Horrors Remembrance Day" has held Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Congress and then Viceroy Lord Mountbatten responsible for India's partition. Trains filled with refugees arrived in India and left for Pakistan during the Partition(HT Archive) The module has also noted that post-Partition, Kashmir emerged as a new problem, which had never existed in India before and created a challenge for the country's foreign policy. It has also flagged that some countries keep giving aid to Pakistan and exert pressure on India in the name of the Kashmir issue. "India's Partition happened due to wrong ideas. The party of Indian Muslims, the Muslim League, held a conference in Lahore in 1940. Its leader, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, said that Hindus and Muslims belong to two different religious philosophies, social customs, and literatures," the module said. In a section titled "culprits of Partition", the NCERT module said, "Ultimately, on August 15, 1947, India was divided. But this was not the doing of any one person. There were three elements responsible for the Partition of India: Jinnah, who demanded it; second, the Congress, which accepted it; and third, Mountbatten, who implemented it. But Mountbatten proved to be guilty of a major blunder." "He preponed the date for the transfer of power from June 1948 to August 1947. He persuaded everyone to agree to this. Because of this, complete preparations could not be made before the Partition. The demarcation of the Partition boundaries was also done hastily. For that, Sir Cyril Radcliffe was given only five weeks. In Punjab, even two days after 15 August 1947, millions of people did not know whether they were in India or in Pakistan. Such haste was a great act of carelessness," it said. While the module blames Jinnah, it also quotes him saying he never thought it would happen or that he would see Pakistan in his lifetime. "Later, even Jinnah admitted that he had not expected Partition to happen. He told his aide, 'I never thought it would happen. I never expected to see Pakistan in my lifetime'," it said. The module quotes Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as saying that the situation in India had become explosive. "India had become a battlefield, and it was better to partition the country than to have a civil war." It cites Mahatma Gandhi's stance, noting that he opposed Partition but would not resist the Congress' decision through violence. The text states: 'He said that he could not be a party to the Partition, but he would not stop Congress from accepting it with violence." NCERT has published two separate modules -- one for Classes 6 to 8 (middle stage) and another for Classes 9 to 12 (secondary stage). These are supplementary resources in English and Hindi, not part of regular textbooks, and are meant to be used through projects, posters, discussions and debates. Both modules open with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 2021 message announcing the observance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. Quoting the prime minister's post on X (formerly Twitter), the book mentions, "Partition's pains can never be forgotten. Millions of our sisters and brothers were displaced, and many lost their lives due to mindless hate and violence. In memory of the struggles and sacrifices of our people, 14th August will be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day." The module for middle-stage classes asserts that Partition "was not inevitable" and resulted from "wrong ideas." Patel had called it "bitter medicine," while Nehru described it as "bad" but "unavoidable". The secondary-stage module traces Partition to Muslim leaders' belief in a separate identity rooted in "political Islam," which, it claims, "rejects any permanent equality with non-Muslims." It states that this ideology drove the Pakistan movement, with Jinnah as its "able lawyer-leader."
