'Of course, she is the patron, so it is expected that she will appear,' Mr Sullivan told Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power.
'I think she will rally for this, I think that she takes it very seriously, and it is very special to have the Princess of Wales handing out the trophies.

Carlos Alcaraz's classy act melts hearts after Jannik Sinner retires ill from Cincinnati Open final

Jannik Sinner has retired from the Cincinnati Open final just 22 minutes into the match, as the tennis world commended Carlos Alcaraz for his classy act towards his distraught rival. Meeting Alcaraz in the final for the fourth time this year on Tuesday (AEDT), an out-of-sorts Sinner quickly fell behind 5-0 in the first set on the back of nine unforced errors. The Wimbledon champion was seen with an icepack on his head during a brief break at the end of the fifth game before pulling the pin just 22 minutes into the match, telling his team he felt like he was about to collapse. Sinner told trainers and a tournament official: 'I cannot move – I feel like I can collapse.' He apologised to fans as medics rushed over to treat him. Sinner was heard saying: 'I tried, but I can't. I'm sorry for the fans.' The 24-year-old was on a 12-match winning streak and had won 26 straight matches on hard courts, and was only defeated by illness. It also halted his bid at becoming the first player to win back-to-back men's Cincinnati Open titles since Roger Federer in 2014 and '15. You can watch the Sinner incident in the video above Sinner cast an emotional figure as he sat down before Alcaraz came over to console him in truly beautiful scenes. Speaking from the heart as he received his runner-up trophy, Sinner told fans: 'I'm super sorry to disappoint you. From yesterday, I didn't feel great. 'I thought I would during the night, but it got worse. 'I tried to come out and make it a small match, but I couldn't handle more. I'm very sorry for all of you. 'I know some of you on Monday have to work or do something else, so I'm really sorry.' Sinner also congratulated Alcaraz on the victory, which was the 22-year-old's eighth Masters title. He added: 'Congrats to Carlos for another title. For sure, not the way you wanted it but it's amazing what kind of season you are producing. 'To you and your team, I wish you the best for the US Open and the rest of the season. 'To my team, thank you for pushing me every day and understanding me and the situation today. 'I'm sorry to disappoint, but sometimes it's like this and we have to accept it. 'It's been one of the hottest tournaments we have faced, so thank you for all of the support and organisation.' Carlos Alcaraz's classy act Alcaraz admitted it was not the way he wanted to win the game before also issuing an apology. But in a classy gesture, he called Sinner a 'true champion' and declared that he would 'come back better, even stronger'. He also wrote the words 'sorry Jannik' with a sad face on a TV camera. The 22-year-old then took to social media after leaving the court to again offer a message of support to Sinner. 'I'm so sorry for Jannik! Nobody likes to win because their opponent retires, especially in a final like this. Wishing you a speedy recovery! ï¸Very happy with my week in Cincinnati and feeling ready for the US Open!' he wrote on X. And the tennis world was quick to heap praise on the Spaniard for his classy response. 'Congratulations, Carlitos! You are such an exemplary tennis player on and off the court,' one fan commented. 'What a classy young man, truly selfless! Great sportsmanship Carlitos,' another wrote. While veteran tennis journalist Jose Morgado wrote on X: 'Carlos Alcaraz wins his 8th career Masters 1000 title. Beautiful scenes in the end between both players.' Sinner's withdrawal has also sparked fears over his participation in the US Open. The Italian ace is due to play alongside Czech tennis star KateÅ™ina Siniaková in the mixed doubles event against Alexander Zverev and Belinda Bencic in the round of 16 tomorrow. The main draw for the men's singles at the US Open will commence on Sunday.

Alex de Minaur absent from US Open mixed doubles as Nick Kyrgios withdraws

Australian veteran Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of his proposed US Open doubles pairing with Naomi Osaka, casting doubt on his participation in the singles. Kyrgios's absence was revealed when the US Tennis Association released the draw for the controversially remodelled event, which also confirmed Alex de Minaur's plea to be included with British fiancee Katie Boulter had been rejected. Kyrgios has been troubled by injuries for three years and recently posted his knee was 'cooked'. Australian world No.8 De Minaur, who had asked for a mixed doubles wildcard 'pretty pretty please' via social media, is the highest-ranked man not in the event. This was despite several other withdrawals, which left new pairing Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper as the No.1 seeds after both their planned partners pulled out. But De Minaur may have also been denied by his fiancee herself. Boulter has struggled for form in recent times and entered herself into a tournament in Cleveland this week in a last-ditch bid to improve her grand slam chances - something she had not done so far this year. 'Day by day, momentum forward,' Boulter wrote ahead of the event. De Minaur and Boulter have previously been a popular pairing in Wimbledon's mixed doubles tournament but the US Open's much smaller new-look event worked against them. There could yet be further withdrawals from the mixed doubles draw. The event begins Tuesday local time with the first round and quarter-finals being played then. Yet Carlos Alcaraz plays Jannik Sinner in the final of the Cincinnati Open in Ohio on Monday. They are due to partner, respectively, Emma Raducanu and, in another new pairing, Katerina Siniakova. The Czech women's doubles No.2 has replaced Emma Navarro as partner of the men's singles world No.1. French veteran Gael Monfils, who partnered Kyrgios in the DC Open in Washington recently, has replaced him as Osaka's partner. Another eye-catching duo are 45-year-old Venus Williams and fellow American Reilly Opelka. They are among eight wildcards with the other eight pairings selected on the basis of combined singles rankings - thus Draper and Pegula as top seeds. The qualification policy is just one reason why the event, designed to attract attention of fans, sponsors, television and social media, is controversial. Prize money has been increased five-fold to $US 1 million ($A1.5m) but only four games will be required to win a set in matches before Wednesday's final, with no-advantage scoring (four points will be needed to win a game) and 10-point match tie-breaks instead of a third set throughout. Last year's US Open mixed doubles champions, Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori have dismissed the new format as a 'pseudo-exhibition focused only on entertainment and show' that would shut out true doubles players. Having been given a wildcard they will have the chance to make their case for doubles specialists on court with their first match against No.2 seeds Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz. US OPEN MIXED DOUBLES DRAW Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper (1) v Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz Olga Danilovic and Novak Djokovic v Mirra Andreeva and Daniil Medvedev Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud (3) v Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe Naomi Osaka and Gael Monfils v Caty McNally and Lorenzo Musetti Katerina Siniakova and Jannik Sinner v Belinda Bencic and Alexander Zverev Taylor Townsend and Ben Shelton v Amanda Anisimova and Holger Rune (4) Venus Williams and Reilly Opelka v Katarina Muchova and Andrey Rublev Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori v Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz (2) (seeds in brackets)
